A word from Tra Vigne
Tra Vigne is a ristorante set apart among the vines, creating the illusion of an enchanted Italian village. Behind the ivy covered walls are Three distinct environments: The grand dining room with 30 foot ceilings and a hand-carved bar, the courtyard with alfresco service, and the Magnum Library for special events. Chef's creations from antipasti to pastas, entrees and desserts pay passionate homage to traditional Italian cookery. The restaurant's extensive wine cellar features Napa Valley vintners and Italian varietals.

Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed the Lamb pasta for dinner and the butterscotch panacotta for desert. Very good and great atmosphere on outside courtyard."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Tra Vigne. We sat outside, where the atmosphere is amazing. It's a courtyard with many tables on 2 levels. Little white lights hang throughout the trees in this courtyard area making for a beautiful setting. The food was great, high quality, creative, well cooked and presented. We thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely visit again!"

  • "Loved everything about Tra Vigne. A friend recommended the restaurant to us and she is a foodie, her hubby a wine distributor. The food was great! Loved the homemade mozzarella on bread (to die for!). Definetly a must do if in Napa."

  • "All the food orders were unbelievable and the patio was an outstanding venue"

  • "We dine here a couple of times a year and consistently we get excellent food and service. Tra Vigne has held up its standards over 20+ years. This time we were there for an early dinner and sat outside in the courtyard. Service was friendly, prompt and professional. Everything we ordered was very well prepared and delicious. Great job !"

  • "The atmosphere at Tra Vigne is at once romantic, sophisticated, and relaxing. Seated at a table on the outdoor terrace in what was a gorgeous summer evening, we were ready for a splendid time, & we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We loved everything about it, and lingered long after dinner to explore the premises, admiring all of the artwork, furnishings, and rooms at this gorgeous place."

  • "This is the type of restaurant where the food is great and you could eat without breaking your wallet or purse. I had the black homemade pasta with tuna prepared 3 ways. It was good, but I felt it had too much olive oil: 50% less of the oil would have made the dish perfect. The dining area is large and so is the outside patio; so, many seats and tables and, hence, family friendly."

  • "The restaurant is very nice, the service is good but the food is nothing special. The mozzarella it is not soft as it should be even the flavour es different. The pasta was not al dente"

  • "A picturesque porch setting worthy of a movie set. The mozzarella is wonderful. Served tableside, it starts the meal off with a creamy treat drizzled with the nutty goodness of rich, fresh olive oil. The rabbit, lamb, duck and pork tenderloin dishes were all packed full of rich flavors. We would certainly visit again."

  • "We love this restaurant and always make a point to stop when we are in the Napa area. I gave the restaurant a 3 star this time because I was disappointed that they did not have any tables available in the main restaurant for the two of us even though we had made a reservation. We were going to be put outside but it was very noisy and crowded out there so we decided inside would be better and the only thing they had available was a bistro table in the bar that was barely big enough for our plates. The food was still fantastic and the service very good other than a little glitch with us getting the wrong tables order."

  • "Always great food and great service! WE eat there every time we drive through St Helena."

  • "Tra Vigne is a favorite of ours.....the food is exquisite, the atmosphere [inside or on the balcony, or their patio] delightful. Their house made mozzarella is delicious and also their house made pasta"

  • "TraVigne seems to always pop up as a recommended spot for dining in the wine country. However, I have been underwhelmed on both of my visits. The service is friendly, the patio is nice and the food is fine, but if you are a foodie there are several better options out there such as Farmstead, Redd, Ad Hoc and the AMAZING Archetype in St. Helena, which are truly special experiences."

  • "First time for brunch here. Was not expecting a different menu considering we have gone to this place almost a dozen times already. Overall still love this place. Pasta is absolutely amazing. It sounds easy to make pasta but they not only make it an art form but the make it so good you find yourself cleaning the plate off with a piece of bread when done. The fresh mozzarella (mozzarella minuto) will make me think about driving there for lunch during the week from San Jose that is how good it is."

  • "After Michael Ciarello sold this restaurant, we felt the quality decreased. However, I would have to say, whether or not that was accurate, that the food is really good and our party of 4 were all very pleased with their choices. We had rabbit pappardelle, salmon, steak and the unctuous burger. Pomegranate Bellini (a little too sweet for my taste); Bloody Mary (not the best according to the guest); Pinot Rose, delicious. Lovely to sit on the patio."

  • "Best meal I ever had! Food was fresh, delicious. Couldn't make up my mind between two different pasta dishes so the waiter gave me a half portion of each. Both were amazingly delicious. We will go back."

  • "This is our 4th visit to Tra Vigne and we continue to be ecstatic and very pleased with the food and service. Every dish is remarkable and the price is reasonable for the flavors. Great energy and ambiance. Well done management."

  • "I have been TraVigne many times. They have always been great and compare to anywhere in the vicinity. Great presentation, creative and delicious dishes, wonderful ambiance especially on the patio, quality service."

  • "We love Tra Vigne and go there often for the delicious appetizers (mozzarella al minuto), great pasta, and find desserts. This time, we had an experience we have never had before. I asked our waiter the cost of the fish special and he said $89. He was trying to make a joke, but I did not appreciate it. If I want to know the price of a special, I have the right to know the cost! He never did tell me how much it was going to cost, so I had a different entrée. But it really interfered with my enjoyment of the evening. Other things were wrong as well: we asked for a glass of wine and never received it; we asked for chocolate ice cream and he brought espresso instead and we could never find him to change it. Poor service!"

  • "It is a must when in town! Mozzarella is awesome! You have to have it! Everything was so fresh, healthy and good! And the patio is so beautiful."

  • "Had dinner here with my husband and teenage son. Mozzarella was great. So were rice balls. My son loved his carbonara and I thought the duck risotto was tasty."

  • "We spent four days in and around Napa Valley and this was by far our favorite dining experience. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous and very romantic. I highly recommend asking for an outside table as the courtyard is spectacular. The house made pappardelle with rabbit ragu was to die for. The real star here is the Mozzarella al Minuto. I could have cancelled everything else we ordered (not that it wasn't delicious) and eaten 5 lbs of this. The entire rest of our trip we talked about that dish and how we could get another "fix" of it. It is that good. Service was outstanding and I cannot stress enough that Tra Vigne is not to be missed."

  • "Great food, atmosphere and reasonable! The menu is perfectly well suited to the weather. Had the signature fresh mozzarella / bruschetta dish which did not disappoint. We coupled that with the kale/karo salad which was a perfectly balanced mixture of citrus and olive oil which worked well with our other apps. The only disappointment was the carpaccio. The quality of the meat was fine but the garnish overpowers the natural taste of the meat and should be addressed as they're ruining a perfectly good dish. The halibut was fantastic and well balanced while the pork tenderloin really came together nicely with the cherry-sauce working well with the smokiness of the meat."

  • "We first ate here six years ago, and were so pleased to find everything just as good - if not better - than last time! Exceptional food, outstanding service and a beautiful setting combined to make our afternoon meal here memorable."

  • "Our experience was mostly good. The service was good, but we just somehow didn't click with our server...he talked us into ordering different entrees that we weren't wowed by, so I think it left us with a "less than expected" experience. That said, the ambience was lovely. We were fortunate enough to be there on an uncrowded night, so the noise level was low. Great wines by the glass. Loved the fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomato appetizer and the salads. We tried the haddock piccata that the server raved about but were disappointed to find the fish overcooked. Would try it again and assume the fish being overcooked was just a hiccup...but there are a lot of great places to eat in Napa also."

  • "Recommended by a friend, not disappointed! Great food, great waiter - wine recommendation was spot on. You have to try the mozzarella."

  • "Tra Vigne's ambiance is great whether dining on the patio or inside the very high ceilinged and nicely decorated re-purposed industrial building. Layout of open kitchen and spacious bar on two sides of inside dining area is a neat design. Romantic Tuscany style. Only real downer was there was a full-of-himself, loudmouth lout a few tables away but that certainly is not the restaurant's fault, just life. Service was very good and our waiter was very knowledgeable and dry witted. Sorry to rate the food down as it was very nicely presented; while my halibut was truly excellent my wife's organic baked chicken was abysmal (very dry and tough as shoe leather, thank the good Lord for a sharp steak knife) and dessert was at best sample size."

  • "We visited Tra Vigne after reading several positive reviews. It is a 5 star restaurant for sure. We had an appetizer of peppers, which were seasoned perfectly and not spicy hot. We had the duck and rabbit dishes, both of which were amazing! The homemade pasta was so fresh and the meats were prepared beautifully in their sauces. We wished we had room for dessert but just couldn't do it! The gardens were lovely, our service was perfect and the food was delicious - - - 5 stars all the way around!"
