  • "This new restaurant on Boylston Street is hip, elegant with a vibe. We're an "older couple" and though most of the patrons were 20-30 somethings we enjoyed the energy of the place. Food was terrific, service was friendly. But you have to enjoy LOUD - by 9 p.m. it was hard to hear the person across the table. Definitely would return, though I imagine in the summer it will be very crowde."

  • "Very large restaurant. Menu looked interesting but when food came out it wasn't...Kale salad had way too much vinegar and maki rolls bland. Waiting 30-45 minutes after appetizers for main course and were starting. Not sure what happened in the kitchen but the table next to us ordered at the same time and waited about the same amount of time as us. Once our food came out it was well prepared, whole sea bass but still didn't make up for bland appetizers and the bad timing of the food. Won't go back again."

  • "In the heart of Boston by the Prudential Center Restaurantier,Lydia Shire, has created a fabulous eatery at Towne. With executive chef Mark Alan at the realm the palate is never disappointed. For an appetizer try the Maki roll. Absolutely delicious and a good item to share for two. The monkfish with the fingerling potatoes and carrots melted in your mouth. The salmon nestled on top of a bed of spinach was equally superb. Both entrees were cooked to perfection. The food keeps getting better and better."

  • "I'd been to Towne before, and loved the bar menu for a quick bite. The dinner offered up for Restaurant Week though, was disappointing. I had the Wonton Soup, which had broth like liquid salt, and the texture of the wontons was too chewy. The sole I had for the main course was much better, but nothing exciting. For dessert, coconut, almond, and sorbet, which was quite good. The highlight of my dinner was actually the cocktail I ordered. I can't remember the exact name, but it was gin and thyme, with a name like "Just in Thyme" or "Out of Thyme." It's a nice place to have dinner with a friend, but there's nothing special here in terms of food."

  • "I used to love Towne for brunch - they had an awesome menu with good portions etc. This weekend I went with some friends in town from NY and told them how great it was, however they rolled out a new menu on this Saturday apparently. The food took a really long time to come out. The server kept repeating "they rolled out a new menu today." The portion sizes weren't great and the new menu choices weren't either. Such a bummer I really used to love this place for brunch!"

  • "I went here with my girlfriend during restaurant week and we both really enjoyed it! They have a pretty large selection of wines along with some specialty cocktails and other spirits. We were seated upstairs and it was lovely! It was a little more quiet than the downstairs dining area and not as dark. We both loved our waiter and the meal as a whole and will definitely go back here!"

  • "I reserved a table this past Sunday for the Dine Out Boston lunch special at Towne Stove. The only problem is, Towne only serves brunch and a few sandwiches on Sundays. Nowhere on the Dine Out website did it say we could not, in fact, have lunch on Sundays. Aside from that, the burger is great, the Bloody Mary decent, and it was fun watching the Anime Boston attendees."

The service provided by the staff was courteous and attentive without hovering. Our wait person was just wonderful. We all agree this is a restaurant worth coming back to."

We were looking forward to the prix fixe lunch menu and had to settle for standard brunch. And the waitress messed up a simple meal elimination. Probably won't go back."

  • "Towne is consistently good and some dishes are even great (like the lobster popovers). The dining space is comfortable - and the view into the kitchen shows a ship-shape operation. Portions are pretty huge so be careful. Everything was tasty - our only disappointment was the shrimp cocktail which was soggy, frozen (to be fair it's not the season.) The Wellfleet oysters were great and the lobster popovers were good enough to write home about. The service is what makes this place - our waiters (yes plural, we had a waiting team) were ON IT. They were right there when needed without hovering. We were just two people, but I imagine they do a great job with a bigger table and we will be back with friends."

It is almost like that want it to seem like it is super hard to get a reservation there (and it isn't). When we finished our dinner we ordered more wine and the waiter said he would have to check to see if he could get that for us because they needed the table (WHAT?)"

  • "Awesome food. Had the pepper steak, really enjoyed it. My girlfriend got the lobster baked ziti and really, really enjoyed it. Clam chowder was awesome too - she said it was the best clam chowder she's ever had. Service was a little meh. We didn't feel as though our server really wanted to deal with us too much, perhaps because we didn't buy drinks. All in all a good experience. Especially loved the free cotton candy they gave us for our anniversary - made us feel very special."

  • "From the second I stepped into Towne Stove and Spirits I knew I was going to love everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant with the dim lighting and dark wood finishes throughout makes for a great experience. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and were able to make good recommendations based off what the table was eating. The menu was lacking some vegetarian choices but the Cauliflower and Leek soup was absolutely phenomenal. Other friends dining with me raved about the Steak Arrabiata and Duck Confit and Fig Pizza. Towne has a fluid and functional layout making it a great place for large groups to dine. I without any reservations recommend Towne for your next night out!"

  • "Towne Stove and Spirits is not stuffy at all but still fit the elements of a romantic evening for us. We sat upstairs as we wanted something more elegant than the casual setting downstairs. Our server was attentive but let us linger long over courses and we did not feel rushed at all to move from dish to dish which we greatly appreciated. Realizing it was our anniversary, they provided our Prosecco gratis. We enjoyed the arrangement of a restaurant kitchen that is on view to the diners which adds to the enjoyment."

  • "I started in the bar, waiting for a colleague. There were few customers when I arrived. It took twenty minutes for a waitress to ask for my order. To be clear there were three employees on duty. Apparently none of them was able to figure our that their pay checks ultimately depend on serving customers. Bad start. Moved to dining room for dinner. The food is quite good. Presentation of dishes is attractive. Room was stylish, hip. Service is cheerful but utterly inept. Our sweet waitress brought us the wrong cocktail, the wrong wine and a wrong main dish. All was fixed, but my salmon was returned to sit under a heat lamp while my conpanion's duck was being prepared. With so many good restaurants in the area, no need to come back."
