Towne Stove and SpiritsFabulous meal at Towne thisFabulous meal at Towne this past Friday. We were seated upstairs, where the open kitchen was fun to watch in action. Quite busy, with the bar in full swing and the outside patio crowded since it was a gorgeous night. Lydia Shire was making the rounds, stopping at every table, which we found really impressive. She recommended the lobster popovers for an appetizer, and they were outstanding - 2 on a plate - perfect for sharing. I got the strip steak, which was perfectly cooked, and my friend ordered the chicken which she loved. We both ordered a side of sauteed spinach, and the waiter very wisely just brought one to share - explaining that he thought it would be enough for us - and he was right. We were a party of five and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. We ordered crispy veg. spring rolls, pork dumplings, and heirloom salad to share. I had chilean sea bass for entree and friend ordered tomahawk steak(which I got to try). Both cooked to perfection and very tasty. Food was not so exceptional in the way of feeling like, "this is the best I have tasted." However, everything was consistently good and cooked to perfection. Right down to the panna cotta. My friend had the halibut and brussel sprouts which were also delicious. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, wait staff appropriately attentive. It was awesome from the wonderful food to the awesome staff and atmosphere!! It was perfect for all as grandparents loved it as well as the my College age kids.. I arrived early and had to wait a few minutes for a table, no big deal. I stopped at the upstairs bar. The bartender was very helpful. He made a very good drink and offered me some great advice on several things that were on the menu. We were seated and our server was friendly and attentive. The food was great! The little donuts and muffins are always a yummy treat and a great way to start off the dining experience. I opted for lunch this time. The ham of the ham & cheese was melt in your mouth, but not too visibly recognizable as ham. The sweet potato fries were fabulous and done to perfection. My partners entree of chicken and waffles was huge and delicious. Restaurant week offerings were sparse, so ordered from the regular menu. Lunch for two-$85 with glass of wine, lunch, dessert each. Food was good but not great. Service was excellent. It was not too busy. Probably return only for special occasion. Best Bloody Mary's.. And everyone ordered something different from the brunch menu and we all raved about what we had. Chicken and waffles fantastic, roast beef hash to die for.. Hurry up and GO.. Don't miss this place. Service was attentive and pleasant..

The Friday special was rich in flavor and the presentation was outstanding. The server was very attentive, but not intrusive. Great atmosphere, food, and service. We come here everytime we visit Boston. This time, we made reservations two weeks in advance but for some reason when we got there, there was no table ready for us. It was a little frustrating, especially because we were really hungry. However, the staff made it work and then sent us a free lobster pizza! We were more than happy and very impressed with the pizza as well! Delicious!!
