We had a wonderful meal, the wine list was perfect. The young woman that served us was very attentive. But we were placed in a tight spot in stow of tables that back against some high top bar tables. The noise level of a group of men behind us was crazy loud & the very close table next to us were hoy using polite dinner voices? I'm saying just bad luck. Would return

Having not tried Towne for some time, we decided to try it again. While the service was good and the ambience was pleasant, the food was not very good. I got the "pizza". Very sweet. Not an adjective I would ever associate with pizza. And to make it worse, this sweet concoction was placed on top of a very dry and tasteless crust. My wife had the burrata. What little was there was very good but most of the plate was covered with greens. I would say the bread and butter were very good. We will not be back.

We had reservations yet were seated at a high top right next to the elevator. It was like they ran out of tables and just squeezed one in. We were next to the elevator and across from the stairs and felt like were were dining in the hallway. Would have been fine if we walked off the street and the restaurant was full but we made reservations in advance. Very disappointed. We even asked for a new table and they said that was all they had for 2 people. Food was great but doubt I will be back for awkward and uncomfortable seating. I also had to put my bag on the floor as there was no where else to put it.

nice ambience, great services and delicious drinks but I was really disappointed in the food. I had the Burrata appetizer which came with 3 tiny and cold brussel sprouts and the Cod/Shrimp entree. The seafood was cooked really well but the sauce was tasteless and I had to add quite a bit of salt because it was so bland. Would go back for drinks at the bar but not for a meal.

I chose Towne for Sunday brunch. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which were exceptional! The service though, was not. Our server seemed miserable, didn't check back and then was just gone. Our payment was taken by another server, who didn't introduce herself. I will go back for the food, but will set my expectations low for service unfortunately.

The ambiance and service were wonderful. The food was good but average. No tastes stood out with the exception of the double fried green beans. The burratta was tasteless and a disappointment. The salads were solid fare, but really, nothing held an individual taste. The lobster popovers were inventive and the lobster tasty, but the popover was nothing special either. The bar was hopping but the restaurant noise level was very manageable. The wait staff was great, but the hostess lacked knowledge on restaurant, how long it had been open, etc. For a restaurant with these owners, it was a bit of a let down.

Appetizers below average, the popovers were dry inside and the lobster chewy, enteres were all perfect, my Scottish salmon was perfectly prepared medium rare as i asked, friends sword fish was also perfect not dry like it can be. I had 2 friends in town for a seminar and staying at the westin Copley this was perfect walk through the prudential mall as it was a rainy stormy night. The place is large and spacy where other tables are far, and the ceiling is very high, tables with linen tableclothes, the expereince was wonderful, good wine selection, perfect service, expensive for what you get, its not an actual foodie place, its really just basics that are well prepared, good side dishes. expensive parking at Prudential garage

Had my wife's birthday dinner there this week. Food was excellent, and service first rate. It has a really cool layout upstairs, we sat close to the kitchen which was incredibly clean. The band came over unexpectedly and serenaded my wife, which we were very touched by. Several groups were in but the noise level was not a problem and the ambiance was great. I would go back there anytime. Hats off to the two servers who looked after us.

We went there with a group of six. This is Lydia Shire restaurant but as much as I enjoy Scampo, this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The service was slow, the ambiance was like family restaurant, loud with people dressed up quite casual. I ordered the ceased salad and the skirt steak. The salad was inedible because of its sodium content and the steak came with a piece of fat that was hanging from its side, soft but tasteless. The fries felt like they were a day old. We paid over all 70$ per person incl the tip, very expensive for the avarage food we got.

I never complain about restaurant noise, but this was pretty excessive- there were groups of drunks girls absolutely SCREAMING at the bar. It was so disruptive and really ruined the dinner. Disappointing because I had family in town and am usually a big fan of Towne.

Maybe we were there on a night they don't have the 'A' team on. We were there ealy on a Sunday evening (having reserved earleir and letting them know we were going to a show the evening). Wait staff was very friendly and clearly wanted to help us out. They lacked a bit in execution as did the kitchen. One of our party asked for the duck dish which came back very raw when asked for medium. Need a litlle work on the finer points of being a server, but there is a lot of promise.

Service was fantastic and atmosphere was great. Would have liked a little more options for vegetarians, especially entree wise. The cheif however was accommodating and created a delicous entree. The web site shows upscale decor and formal dining. The actual is more like a family style informal restaurant. Very loud and difficult to hold conversation - especially for older guests or any with reduced hearing. There are many better places to dine in Boston. We would not return.

It's my sixth time at Towne. Might have been an off night, since the previous five were outstanding. This Saturday evening the upstairs was 2/3 full, the bars downstairs likewise. Service was slow. A more experienced server had to help out or we would still be there. Tomato salad- small, tasty. Caeser Salad- don't bother. It was a party for a food processor- more like confetti than salad. Oysters were perfect. Bar was capable. My flatiron steak was over over salted. The bass got a good report. Cotton Candy for desert was a $6 spool of exactly what you get at the circus. Fun, but out of place. I think Towne has changed to a more current trend- lower prices, smaller portions.

My wife and I decided to take advantage of Dine Out Boston to try Towne Stove and Spirits. It proved a good choice. Our server was pleasant, well informed and efficient. The fixed price menu offered a variety of interesting choices. My wife's choice for a pre dinner cocktail was complicated, but the server was patient & got it right. Our meals were excellent and served in a timely manner without any sense of being rushed. The lobster popover starter was especially delicious. It was full of lobster with a light Golden Syrup. The restaurant is attractive. There's construction next door which blocks the view and we went on Sunday so there was no activity. It might be noisy during the day. We will be back to try the full menu.

The food was great. We went for restaurant week. Tuna tartar with avocado appetizer was the best. Lobster popover was good but I hope for $16 on menue they serve several. Salad had lots of excellent feta. Peach gnocchi was interesting but too sweet for a meal. Short rib was nicely cooked & taste. Choc dessert was perfect end.key Lime mousse was interesting if you like that type of flavor. Tart. Flavorful

Went during Dine Out Boston and this restaurant did not gain a new customer. Breadsticks and accompaniments which were free although I had to ask for them were great. And the dessert was excellent. Everything in between was too salty...and I am usually the one asking for a salt shaker. The vegetables were uninspired. I expect more from a Lydia Shire kitchen than completely plain vegetables a child could prepare. The only reason I knew the corn chowder didn't come from a can was that it was so salty. I took the short ribs bourguignon home to see if I can salvage this great cut of beef. Add the hostess in short shorts and, well, just not what I was expecting.

We ate at Towne recently to celebrate our anniversary. The reason we picked Towne was because the menu appealed to us. We were not disappointed. We both enjoyed both the appetizers and meals, although my husband thought the prime rib was a little tougher than some he has had. The restaurant was fairly empty for a Saturday night, but we attribute that to the fact that is was a nice summer night and Towne is at the Hynes Convention Center, not on the waterfront. Our waitress, could not have been nicer or more helpful. All being said, we would recommend and return to Towne.
