TownDelicious!!!Outstanding service, food, and cocktails for a festive birthday dinner with out of state visitors! We thoroughly enjoyed our appetizer and salads (manila clams & mango/avocado salads), fresh fish dishes with fresh produce, hand cut pasta, and steak! The well prepared cocktails (flavored with and garnished with dill was my favorite) kick started our evening and dinner!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently fantasticTruly fine food in a welcoming environment - we love this place. It's one of the few worth the effort to get out to dinner for well crafted cuisine that one would expect in Portland, Seattle or SF, and using lots of local ingredients. It's not your typical 'local' place - portions are ample but not gigantic - so you'll be disappointed if you're expecting typical 'local bargain' quantity over quality. Our hosts, waiter and servers were all so friendly and helpful. Clientele is mostly younger locals and hybrids (part time mainland/islands) and NOT tourists. A few families with kids/babes. Everyone's having a good time. We always eat here at least once when we're back (local born, mainland-residents).5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOrganic, Locally Grow, MagicTown has one of the most amazing chefs around taking the best of te Aina and turning it into delicious creations. The food is fun, appealing and delicious and very comforting knowing chef Kinney strives to keep it organic and locally grown. I would recommend Town to anyone looking for a really good meal in a great environment.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and reasonable pricesEnjoyed our first dinner at Town. Prices and portions age good and reasonable considering the quality of the food. Had the clams and strip loinas well as some decent wine. The clam broth was outstanding. One of the tastier broths I have ever had. The strip loin was cooked perfectly with a nice light sauce on it. My wife had the arugula salad and pa'i'ai. Both were very fresh and tasty as well.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably delicious and reasonablyReliably delicious and reasonably priced. My go-to option for both family and guests, including foodies.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceMet some friends for a lovely dinner. Inventive cocktails. Gnocchi with pork ragu was just heavenly. All other meals got high marks too. Very enjoyable experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHot spot Town in town! One of my favorite restaurants. Love asking for recommendations and the excitement on the server's face in giving them. Priceless. We ordered the pan roasted chicken and I had the pork gnocchi... Mmm, was I in heaven. I live how the menu changes, just right amount if items on the menu, and keeps it exciting to see about the next time. Second time to Town in one week... What a record! It's open air ambience with the small town scene, make it the perfect place to visit with long time friends. I even saw one of my super good friends celebrating her birthday (Town is her favorite restaurant too). That's when you know it's good if you keep on running into friends there! Too legit.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the waitI have been wanting to try Town for a couple of years, but the parking is not ideal and it's closed Sundays which also contributed to the delay. But, it was well worth the wait. Menu = very creative with organic and farm-to-table choices. Also feature a nice selection of French wines (which I love). Ordered the ahi tartare appetizer (so good, we ordered a second one!), roast chicken & strip loin entrees, tomato bisque and a salad. Almost everything was delicious, cooked to perfection and presented nicely; bisque was just average, but the ahi was outstanding, so there's the trade-off. Also, it can get very loud as the night goes on, so not the best location for quiet dinner conversation. Highly recommend & will go again.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this placeWe're so lucky to live within walking distance of Town. This is one of the best restaurants in Hawaii, or anywhere for that matter. The creativity of the chef makes every dish I've eaten here a flavor powerhouse. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the minimalist decor is perfectly matched to the maximalist flavors of the food. I eat at other places, but always come back to Town as my first-choice for lunch with friends and colleagues and dinner with friends and family.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA happy placeI showed up way late after rental car woes and they'd saved my table, so already I liked them, and then I had one tremendously inventive dish -- a taro griddle cake recommended to me by a local congresswoman I was interviewing: deelish! -- and one extremely good fish dish (monchong with multicolored spuds and baby bok choy) that felt less original but was very nicely done. If it hadn't been so late, I would've tried the three kinds of lamb, which looked great as it passed me by, and had a little more imagination and local eccentricity to it. All in all, a very happy place to go, with extraordinarily friendly service, and food that would be reckoned good anywhere. I'd go back anytime I was in HNL.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Food is wonderful, fresh & local. Great place for locals & visitors4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAhi tartare melts in your mouth! As usual, our experience at Town was fantastic. Really, the number one reason we go to this restaurant is for the unbelievably delicious Ahi Tartare appetizer and the fantastic bread. The food is exceptional and we're so lucky to live nearby.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AManother delicious mealOnce again we enjoyed our meal at town. Happy to be seated outside, due to previous experiences inside that were too cold and too loud (poor acoustics in main dining room)food was delicious, service was kinda slow but we were having a good time with our party so it didn't matter too much. It was Friday 6-8 and quite packed. I always want to go on Sunday, unfortunately the restaurant is closed that day.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love it. The food is preparedWe love it. The food is prepared perfectly and the home grown fresh veggies and herds are superb.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale local syle...The reservations staff were very accommodating in respecting my need to save several seats for latecomers (who ended up not making it). Very comfortable restaurant and the food is excellent. Loved being able to share.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Gnocchi in da World!I enjoyed Town immensely..It was our first time, and I decided to celebrate my BFF Michel's birthday with another of our BFF; Kalena. The food was amazing...The best gnocchi I ever ate in my life and I traveled a lot! The ahi tatare was scrumptious, the Nevermind drink was the bomb, our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable, not enough space. Could write a book! Thank you for this gem of a restaurant.
Jennifer4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI love dining at Town whenI love dining at Town when we visit Honolulu. Great use of local produce, delicious menu & a fun atmosphere.
If you're a tourist, it's also great to get out of Waikiki & dine in a different area (though it's only 10 mins away).
Definitely one of our favourites!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pa'i'ai appetizer - ono!!The pa'i'ai appetizer - ono!! split the gnocchi with my dinner date, lucky enough to get the last one of twelve available.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, noisy atmosphereFabulous restaurant in a neighborhood away from the hotels of Waikiki. Menu changes daily, and food is local & fresh. Fish is perfectly cooked. Fantastic place, but very noisy if you have any interest in conversation.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEd and Dave know what theyEd and Dave know what they are doing with their food. We tried many items from the menu and all were expertly prepared. Their drinks are also very good. The passion and care that this restaurant puts into their product is an example of how it should be done.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was the first time thatIt was the first time that I went there. I wanted to go there for long. I liked the interior and mood. I had pasta that was a bit salty but I liked it. I want to go again.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe rabbit was good! TotesThe rabbit was good! Totes a clever idea to offer on the menu for Easter weekend.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood quality and creativeFood quality and creative use of fresh, local ingredients is always inspirational. Love the expanded dining room and the wall treatment. Staff is very knowledgeable and try to accommodate special seating requests when possible. TOWN is our first stop when we are back on island.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food from local farms.Great food from local farms. Menu changes constantly. Excellent selection of a variety of foods.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal we had in HonoluluBest meal we had in Honolulu by far - wow. Service was excellent but perhaps a bit slow.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambience was very livelyThe ambience was very lively and the service excellent! It was a great dining experience, but the (monchong) fish entree was very salty and the fish was over-cooked. The ohia ai tart was a little burned on the crust and seemed a bit small for the price.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMModern locavore style with alohaMy wife and I had a great meal here. I was very impressed with their wine list, it is suitable for wine geeks with things like Huet sparkling Vouvray and good Cru Beaujolais on the list. The cocktails looked well made also.
The service was very good, knowledgable about the food and timely. The setting is nice, kind of a bustling, busy place but we could still talk easily without shouting. The food was really good. The fish course was prepared perfectly, seared crisp on the outside and moist and flaky inside. The chef makes great use of the local in season vegetables. The gnocchi was outstanding, light as air with a savory pork ragu sauce. I would highly recommend this place, you'll need a reservation as it's deservedly popular.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great, unpretentiousThis is a great, unpretentious little restaurant. For a fair price, it serves fresh local creations that are head and shoulders above anything else we have seen in Honolulu.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and awesomeGreat service and awesome food as always. Finding parking is still rough.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat organicThis was the first visit to have a dinner with my parents.
I've spent a great moment with having a fine foods, drinks and services.
If we have a chance to visit Hawaii again, I'd like to go there .3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Town-- it's always great.Love Town-- it's always great. The reason for the noise review is because of a table of loud & rowdy women. Normally the noise level is acceptable.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI am now convinced that TownI am now convinced that Town has the best Gnocchi on the planet. You can go there for the great salads, and the food which is consistently good, but man the Gnocchi is really great! I find Town to be one of the most inviting places for older dudes like me. You go to some restaurants and there are all these 20 and 30 year old guys doing their best Food Channel commentator imitation. At Town you get a great crowd, a real mix of folks, and everyone there is having a great time. There is a really great energy in the room that contributes to the dining experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Wonderful restaurant with clean food, many choices for unique dishes and great service.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food at good prices.Excellent food at good prices. Decor getting tired.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTown is exceptional. To thatTown is exceptional. To that end, this was our second visit to Town in a 4-day period. Their approach to local foods and style of preparation is impressive. The wait staff was professional, helpful and provided great service.
This was a wonderful dining experience for us and we will be back on our next visit to Hawaii.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTown was our best meal inTown was our best meal in terms of taste, service, and ambiance on our recent trip to Waikiki. Their focus on local ingredients was a plus as was our waiter's excellent knowledge of the details of the menu. It is off the standard tourist track, but well worth the visit.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
