The food is wonderfully prepared with some items being signature dishes since Town Hall opened. Don't miss the delicious veal meatballs or the pork chop. The menu selections were adequate and gave a wide variety of options for every taste. The only downfall was that they no longer serve Iced Tea...My party and I found that quite interesting seeing as they had some southern inspired foods on the menu. I am a iced tea-aholic and was very disappointed and had to settle for a root beer (which was very good). We've tried to go to other restaurants and keep coming back. It's consistently good no matter what we try. We went for their fried chicken dish but they were out I'm sure because of the busy weekend. I was forced to try the halibut with sun chokes and it was SO good. The butter leaf salad is always a favorite. We had an amazing time and the food was so, so good. Oysters, hush puppies, breaded and fried okra, combined with a great selection of salads and entrees made dinner selections a challenge. The service was attentive, but not overly so. The combination of various spices rendered the halibut a distinctive treat. I particularly enjoyed the hush puppies because they were prepared without sugar and did not taste like cake. I had the trout, she had the pork chops. We both were very pleased and impressed with our choices. The location was perfect for BART and the Yerba Buena center (or the Ball Park). We weren't rushed and were able to take our time. I had the chicken sandwich, which I didn't see was smoked and it was really, really smokey - that was all you could taste. The fried root veggies with it were delicious though. Hubby had the ham sandwich. He loved the perfectly cooked egg on top, but there was way too much jalepeno cream sauce on the dish. For the price, it was good but not exceptional. The standouts were the bbq shrimp appetizer and hush puppies. We were late getting through traffic; the hostess was very accommodating and saved our table. By the time we arrived we only had time for entrees and wine since we had tickets to Jersey Boys. The waitress was fantastic-worked with the kitchen to serve us in 15 minutes. She also offered up a great wine recommendation...the Peay Pinot. Great atmosphere, hip decor, delicious fried chicken and trout, outstanding service. It was wonderful to see that all the great things I like about this restaurant did not change. The food is decadent and the service is outstanding. I was thrilled to see the Town Hall burger was still on the lunch menu. I ordered it with bleu cheese, bacon and avocado to boot and it's just how I remembered it.
