Tower Oaks LodgeJust perfectWe selected Tower Oaks based upon our prior experiences here. We had friends in from out of town and wanted them to experince the ambience of the main dining room. We were there for two hours and our guests had a sonderful lunch and atmosphere.
tks5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place but noisyLove this restaurant - but it's not a good place if you'd like a quiet dining spot. Food and service and the decor itself are all wonderful. It's just hard to have a nice conversation without raising your voices. If this doesn't matter - then this is a #1 place.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the rustic ambianceFood is good and moderately priced, but the big draw is the rustic Adirondack ambiance.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal; fantastic ambienceMy husband go here regularly and have always found it have consistently good food. The fact that they change the menu and specials regularly is a bonus, especially for regulars. You also can't beat the rustic lodge atmosphere which is perfect on cold winter days when the fire is lit, or spring and fall when the flowers and leaves in the surrounding woods are on display.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food & Handicapped AccessibleHeretofore and also on May 18th, Tower Oaks Personnel have always have made accommodation for a colleague who uses a motorized scooter----and she does not transfer to a conventional chair.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat diningTrout and brisket were outstanding. Bartender made a great Manhattan. Fresh strawberry shortcake excellent.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely environment, good foodLovely environment, good food , good service and friendly waiter!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMOre detailI said that I recommend the lodge for outdoor but there is no outdoor, but where we sat, if felt so open and airy in the woods that my entire family felt outdoors. We had one of the best birthdays for my wife on record. A wonderful time; a gorgeous place; good food and vibe.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely LunchI love the Great Room for lunch with outdoor view and hunting theme decorations. The service is always excellent, allowing us to take our time and yet moving quickly when our orders were in. My friend enjoyed the curried chicken sandwich, while I chose the monthly special Alaskan Halibut. Both were delightful. The Lodge never disappoints.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways reliableThe Haddock was excellent. Everyone liked their martinis. Excellent waitress.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI am not a frequent dinerI am not a frequent diner at Tower Oaks, but dine there regularly. Have never had a bad experience. The food is consistently good, the servers are always friendly and personable but not obtrusive and the atmospher is relaxing.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GoodWe go often - the food is always good, the prices are reasonable, the service is exceptional, and if you like the upscale hunting "lodge" ambiance, you'll love Tower Oaks Lodge.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMUnfailingly Satisfying! The Lodge is our favorite local eatery. My husband is a seriously critical diner but has never voiced a complaint about the food. We know we'll always find both new meal choices to pique our appetites as well as old favorites, and the service is top notch. Always a pleasure!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Halibut !The Alaskan Halibut special is exceptional. Nina's service excellent as always !!!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA great catchAs usual the trout parm was delicious, the crab chowder was delicious and the service was excellent.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEven on a very busy nightEven on a very busy night they did a very good job meeting our expectations.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu needs a little revampingAlthough I love this restaurant -- I find the menu is a little off. I found it hard to find more than two things on there that I liked. My whole family agreed. But we will come back here again and again because the food we had was great. So are the staff and also they serve the best margaritas in town!!!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorableTower Oaks Lodge is a beautiful venue in a beautiful location. The "Lodge" ambience is thorough without being overdone -- no kitsch here. The tunnel of fairy lights you walk through to get to your table puts you in a festive mood, so it's a great place for Mother's Day and similar celebrations.
The food is very good but not superlative; nothing pretentious or daring here, just a dependable kitchen that turns out fresh, hearty meals every time. Portions are ample but not excessive and prices are very reasonable. Save room for dessert, because the house-made desserts are excellent.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's our favorite restaurantIt's our favorite restaurant which is why we selected it to celebrate Mother's Day. The food is always amazing as well as the drink selection. Highly recommend it!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMnice ambiance, good servicemediocre food however, was a little disappointed in the entrees5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMhalibut specialthis is one of the best of the Clyde"s monthly specials that I have had so far. A halibut fillet served on bed of barley and mushrooms with an asparagas salad. Cooked perfectly. For desert we tried the rhubarb crumble tart that was also great. Excellent service and good wine at a moderate price.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe had our 17th anniversary dinner at Tower Oaks and had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was very good, although we would have preferred the deck the dinning area was very nice. Highly recommend this restaurant.
SteveB5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWell-hidden treasureThis Clyde's Restaurant has a great ambience -- hunting lodge décor. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, as do all Clyde's menus, and service on the day we were there was excellent. We enjoyed the food and the surroundings. Noise level is moderate so you can carry on a conversation without having to shout.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the Clyde's RestaurantOne of the Clyde's Restaurant chain, it easily meets the high standards set by this Company. Added to that is the old tavern ambiance, which is unique these days.
The staff was most accommodating to our party, as we arrived in separate groups.
Food was excellent and not over-whe liming with portion sizes.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful eveningI brought visiting colleagues to Tower Oaks for our evening meal. We ate in the great room and admired the beautiful historic structure. Everyone was happy with their meal. Service was great because we weren't interupted by too frequent staff visits but the waiter was there evertime we needed something.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceThis a great place for groups with varied tastes.
The oysters are great!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than I rememberHadn't been there for a while. Last minute res at 8 pm on a Saturday made at 7 pm from open table. Wife had halibut "delicious". I had tempura mushrooms and some sort of pickled vegetable appetizer. Excellent. With 2 glasses of wine and an ice tea came to about $50 and worth it5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful timeWe were greeted with smiles and directed to our table (even though we were very late). The staff could not have been more inviting. Our waitress was wonderful and gave us some great tips on what to order. Our food was brought to us in a very timely manner and was paced perfectly. We never felt rushed or left waiting.
There were a lot of latino meals on the menu this time no doubt due to Cinco de Mayo. Please bring back the duck dishes. They were wonderful. There also seemed to be quite a bit of seafood dishes on the menu. Would be nice to have a little more balance in choices.
I would recommend your establishment to anyone who asked where to go for a great meal with great atmosphere.
We had a wonderful time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways consistentThe beauty of Tower Oaks Lodge is that you can plan ahead or check on open table and nearly always get a table. The food is very consistent and tasty and there is enough variety to please most tastes. It is part of the Clyde's chain and as such you know you will always get good value. You should be able to look it up on open table as Clyde's as well as Tower Oaks Lodge. The decor of Tower Oaks is outstanding as is the decor in all Clyde's venues.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter Work OasisMy co-worker recommended Tower Oaks initially for an after work bar stop. I had never been, she had been there a couple of times before. She knew that I loved Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture. She said the bar wasn't crazy loud and the food was good. I went not knowing what to expect and let it wash over me.
I was so in love with this place I didn't want to leave. It's funny the food was good but I didn't even think much about it because it was my eyes that got the treat. This place is amazingly beautiful. It is rustic. Yes there are chandeliers that somewhat resemble FLW but its the colors, the attention to detail everywhere you look. I love American Indian portraits and there in the hall are at least five of them. A+++5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTower Oaks is consistently goodWe are never disappointed by the food - there is something for all tastes. But what we really like is their friendliness and willing to accomodate our needs. We like to go with there with my 88 and 90 year old parents. In our party of 4, one can hardly hear and uses a walker and another one has a fractured laryn. They always find a good table for us - it is harder when there are more than 4 of us. Also, they will split an entree between two people. This is espescially nice when we have appetizers, given the smaller appetites of older people.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFunAlways consistent, and good. Can't go wrong, good food, atmosphere and service. Always a crowd pleaser. Pretty good value as well.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMthe clydes, they are a-changinI have been going to Clyde's pretty much since it opened on M street in Georgetown around 50 years ago. Two days I ago I took a client to lunch at Tower Oaks. We are both moderate food nuts but go to Tower Oaks because it is quiet, and we can look at papers in private and the server knows not to intrude by asking "how is everything in the middle of my sentence".
But...I saw something compelling on the menu, scallops with mushrooms, ramps, and other things. OK, I thought, the chef is in charge and i gotta try this. My client chose the fish tacos. We decided on both and asked to have them divided on two plates
It was pure heaven. Both dishes. I never thought of clydes as being a foodie destination but tower oaks is for me now.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMore than Great Food and AmbianceMore than great food and atmosphere, Tower Oaks offers patrons wonderful people who serve and engage. Especially appreciated the cheerful camaraderie that Chris and Christian shared with us, more particularly noteworthy given how busy the establishment was as at the time of our visit. Juan Lulli4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten here dozens ofI have eaten here dozens of time and was pleased to get a last minute reservation on Friday night. Our server, John, was great. He recommended a couple of different wines we might like, didn't rush us as we finished wine and coffee. The menu currently being offered is far better than the St Patrick's Day version, but I'd love to see some less caloric and high fat appetizer offerings. A couple of large and exuberant parties were seated in the same room which made conversation a little difficult.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been here 15 or 20 timesHave been here 15 or 20 times and never been disappointed.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious - andThe food was delicious - and our waiter was great. We went to lunch early that day and it was a lovely meal. Three of us had the steak salad - delicious - and I couldn't finish my steak, so I took it home and had it for (a fantastic) lunch the next day.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe oysters are always incredible,The oysters are always incredible, the food is great and consistent, while the service is always with a smile and prompt. The calamari and the mussels were both excellent, although I would have liked just a little less of the aioli on the mussels. It added a nice flavor but it reminded me a little of sour cream on nachos (great for everything on the outside but a little overwhelming for the ones in the middle). Our server was very friendly and knowledgable, but could have given us another moment or two on check backs. She had a full section the entire time we were there however, so I'll give her a pass on that on.
Would definitely return the next time I'm up in Rockville.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best Clyde's locationsOne of the best Clyde's locations with reliably solid menu fare, great seafood, pleasurable atmosphere easy recommendation for a variety of occasions or just an enjoyable meal.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been here many timesWe have been here many times and have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere in the variety of special-themed rooms. Strong focus on pleasing the customer. Beef was grass fed, important to those of us interested in humanely raised animals.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, atmosphere andgreat food, atmosphere and an award winning executive chef make this a "Can't go wrong choice"4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceI have added Tower Oaks Lodge as one of my favorite place to eat.
