Even on a Sunday evening, Toulouse Petit was crowded and lively. The many candles added a lovely quality to the setting, but the lively bar scene reminded you how popular TP is. Everyone in my party enjoyed their appetizers, entree and desserts. The Mad Hatter chicken and duck confit were both done well. The chocolate lava cake was especially good.

There is no restaurant in Seattle more overrated. Don't be deluded by the difficulty of getting a reservation, the appeal of the menu, or all the hype: this place is serving up mediocre to lousy food in an incredibly loud, uninviting environment. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

  • Noisy sport bar feelingwith nonstop hits

Went there for a romantic evening and instead of enjoying the company of my partner I had to listen to the bachelor party brigade sitting next to us and the loud hits stream from the speakers competing with the constant background noise of other tables. Ordered the $49 menu including two tasteless intros and a good steak. Which, IMHO, all together was worth no more than $30 top. Don't be fooled by the romantic interior: it's a sport bar-like beehive for which a ~$140 bill is definitely overpriced

We arrived late (due to parking in a busy section of town on a Friday eve), but Tolouse was very accommodating, and got us served and out in time for our play at Seattle Rep, which is within walking distance! Food tasted great, however, both husband and I didn't feel well that evening, assuming it was something that we ate. Halibut and steak dinners were well prepared and tasted excellent! Wine Steward went above and beyond, since the wine we requested was unavailable. Only suggestion: Hostess was a bit off putting... she could have been a bit more welcoming than she was!

We celebrated our daughters birthday and had a marvelous dinner. We enjoyed several appetizers and unique delicious entrees. The service was outstanding. The delivery of our meal was well timed and allowed sufficient time to finish cocktails, and each course to follow. The restaurant is high energy and noise level is relatively high but it fits the ambiance. We have dined at Toulouse Petit several times, all on special occasions and have never been disappointed.

The food here is great and it is fun to try lots of different choices. The pork bruschetta with shaved apple was delicious. The wait staff is the best I have ever encountered. They are always there when you need them, they cooperate with each other and try to do what they can to accommodate. They were able to get us in and out in 45 minutes for our SIFF movie and never forgot our time constraint from food service to delivery of the bill. This is the second time going there and being impressed with the wait staff. They must have had lots of team building because they all seem to constantly help each other.

Almost every visit to Seattle, each month or two, includes dinner or lunch at Toulouse Petit. Really delicious, flavorful, creative dishes. Love the crawfish beignets, salads & soups are unique & full of great seasonal ingredients, they do salmon & halibut very well with flavorful veggie & starch accompaniments. Even though Toulouse Petit offers many cajun &/or creole dishes, I have not tried them. Friends love their jambalaya. It's always busy & packed & is a very loud space. Not a good place for quiet, intimate meal. Some dinner entree portions are not huge (salmon dishes) so, if you are very hungry, order starter or salad. Missed their flourless chocolate cake with peanut butter ice cream but flourless chocolate lava cake was very good.

Had tried this restaurant 2 years ago when we were looking at moving to the area and had been really impressed then with just their appetizers. Last night was able to enjoy the full menu; We started with the duck and wild boar terrine which was rich with the right amount of succulent fattiness and the sides of pickled items were the perfect way to cut through the richness. I then had the braised rabbit over pappardelle pasta. Run don't walk to this fabulous place. Well worth the night out and the price is well worth what they charge.

I should have known better, but I was intrigued by a menu that went on forever, nothing to do with the cuisine of Toulouse. Companion had a beet salad that had been sitting and marinating in the fridge for eternity with taste and odors of other foods. Halibut that had obviously been of the frozen variety, with the added gift of fish. It arrived swimming in a sweet wine/vinegar sauce, which I presume was employed to mask the unfreshness. I, on the other hand, ordered the catalan/chorizo Gulf shrimp (these shrimp never came anywhere near that body of water), dangerously over seasoned with an after taste of vinegar. What followed was a duck breast overcooked, tasteless, and swimming in the same halibut sauce. Hostess us with attitude.

Toulouse continues to deliver delicious, complexly flavorful food. The shrimps (3) and crawfish (shelled),from the Gulf shrimp, crawfish and housemade andouille over grits, were cooked well; sausage was tasty and grits were creamy, cheesy and spicy. The duck confit was moist. The thick cut "porterhouse" pork chop, from the regular menu, was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, the duck and pistachio terrine was not available. The prociutto-wrapped asparagus was a favorite. The beet salad got a thumbs up. However, the evening was marred by the unexpected response from the hostess after she spilled water on my back and my coat (after placing the water pitcher on the ledge behind me): "was there really that much water?" Really?

Love, love this place. Went recently during Restaurant Week and it was the perfect opportunity to bring several "foodie" friends who hadn't been there before. The servings were adequate for sharing and every selection excelled. The only problem was that the amazing cauliflower and crab soup wasn't offered on the Restaurant Week menu. But 2 side-orders and 4 spoons later, everyone was happy. Our server was patient, made wise and reasoned suggestions==when asked. Despite the crowd, we never felt rushed and will be back again very soon.

We were a party of 6 & some of us arrived late and we were all needing to get to a show by 7:30pm. Our waitress and other wait staff handled everything with ease, friendliness and great attitude. Always a fun and flavorful eating adventure with wide range of food options. Service was impeccable from waitress, sommelier and servers. They were very busy on a Friday at 7pm but food was timely, not rushed nor delayed and uncompromised as to tastiness, presentation and warmth. Drinks and wine great. The slice of pecan pie that finished the meal was huge but luckily there were four of us to share. We do find the bistro noisy atmosphere a bit of a distraction and the installation of some acoustical softening would be our only minor suggestion.

Toulouse Petit never disappoints. And sometimes even surprises me by taking their service to the next level. This visit, in particular, we had outstanding service and attention to our 2 & 4 year olds. While not ideal to bring the little ones with us to dinner, we couldn't avoid it on this bustling Friday night. However, our server was instrumental in making it an easy experience. Right when we sat down, at the same time she delivered our menu's, she verbally listed options for the kids & put their order in immediately. Our most noteworthy dish this time was a dessert: bananas foster. Wow. So good! We all agreed we'll need to come back and try their "french toast" version at brunch! Overall wonderful meal & experience. Love this place.

The food is great, with pairings that are surprising but excellent in taste. The wine menu is almost overwhelming. At no point do they pretend to be authentic french (which is good) but the influence shows in a good way. the service for a full place was very good. the only draw back was the very loud music and everybody trying to talk even louder to compete with the music.

Pro: We had a table of six and everyone liked their dinners. The service was spot on and the menu had enough items for everyone to find something they liked. Faux Orleans, mostly. Con: Remarkably noisy. It was tough for everyone at the table to hear anyone but the person directly next to them. The staff cleared plates so quickly it felt as if the priority was turning over the table, not the dining experience of the customers. Not really New Orleans beyond jambalaya on the menu and some marketing.
