A word from Toula Restaurant
Toula is located in Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle Hotel. Its location, on the edge of Lake Ontario, presents a stunning view of the city and it's surroundings. The rich Italian fabrics, mirrored in the gold leaf ceiling, provide guests with the perfect setting to compliment any occasion. Toula has a well established reputation for using only the finest of ingredients. Of course, no menu would be complete without a wonderful selection of wines. General Manager Adriano Vicentini has been acquiring a substantial collection to compliment any dish. The main focus of our list has naturally fallen on Italian Reds, from the regions of Piedmonte and Tuscany. With a cellar consisting of over three hundreds labels, however, our ababundant range of flavours, from both Old and New World regions, will surely yield the perfect bottle to satisfy even the most discerning of palates.

Very poor service. The meal lasted a while and allowed ample time to talk and enjoy the scenery, however, it was near impossible to refill water glasses or ask for an additional drink due to the poor service. Considering they pride themselves on the view, we were not asked where we would like to sit even though it was not very busy. The food was only okay. If you are interested in trying unique food, this is the place to go because the flavors were quite different.

This was a Winterlicious experience. For this type of event, the food was good. As for service, our waiter was polite and friendly; however, the maitre d' at the front did not do a good job at keeping track of the arrival of guests. She asked for us to wait for our table but then forgot about us entirely. For fairness, I would go back on a normal business day to re-evaluate.

The service was satisfactory and the view was good but the food was sub par. The Rib Eye steak was almost inedible ( more grissle than meat). Would not recommend to anyone who has experienced fine dining.

We booked a table for 7 at lunch on Feb 6 for the Winterfest. When we arrived there were 8 chairs and the waiter pleasantly took one away for us. We were surprised the restaurant was not full. The menu had a wonderful selection but when we arrived one of the options had been substituted, which disappointed a few people. The appetizers were wonderful accept that the soup with Jumbo Seared Sea Scallops had no scallops. At the end of the meal our very wonderful waiter gave us our bill for food and drinks and had charged us for 8 people. When we brought this to his attention he quickly apologized and had it taken off our bill and did not charge us for our coffee's. View was incredible and it was a lovely lunch.

There were 5 of us in our group and we all truly enjoyed our experience at Toula. The food was delicious, and the service was sound and friendly even though it was a very busy Winterlicious evening. The sea scallop chowder was amazing-light and flavourful. Rack of lamb, beautifully encrusted, was roasted to perfection for each person's taste. Roasted Sea Bass was melt-in-your-mouth. Lemoncella cheesecake(!) and tiramisu were delectable. (I recommended Toula to my boss, and he immediately booked for Valentine's Day dinner.) It was a crisp and clear Winter night and the view was breathtaking. The light show on the CN Tower was the icing on the cake. P.S. It was particularly convenient to be able to use Open Table to make our reservation.

Our dining experience was superb!! The moment we stepped out of the elevator on the 38th Floor we were greeted by a friendly hostess and introduced to our server, Natalia, who was a warm, cheerful person who took wonderful care of us. My husband, his Mom who is 80 years old and doesn't get out much, and myself couldn't have had better service anywhere. We had a very leisurely lunch where the food was so delicious, the view spectacular, the service was so warm, friendly and kind and our every request was cheerfully fulfilled! We have already recommended this restaurant to friends and will continue to recommend it to everyone who wishes an incredible dining experience unlike any other.

We went there for the Winterlicious event and the menu was varied and interesting. I had a hard time choosing from the appetizers and mains as they were all to my liking. The food was cooked perfectly - with my steak being just a right medium rare. My husband and I both enjoyed drinks from the varied wine and cocktail menu and enjoyed the spectacular view of Toronto from our seats. It seems that you can't really have a bad seat for the view the way this restaurant is designed. It was romantic and although quite busy, not noisy like most restaurants. The only downside was our waiter seemed a little preocuppied, bringing me an empty pot of hot water without the tea I had ordered. Go for the food and the scenery.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 2/1/2009
We ate at Toula's as part of the Winterlicious event and found it average at best. I may have been expecting more due to the fact the restaurant is located in the Westin Harbour Castle. The southern view we had of the lake and Toronto Islands was spectacular. The decor of the restaurant seemed dated and the food was average. The main course two of my guests were expecting was unavailable and the substitution was less than suitable. The substitution for the meal was a supposedly spicy pasta with a lobster tail, which was half a tail & over-cooked. The wine list was very good and the server was attentive and helpful with any questions.

Pleasant seating, very helpful server. Staff was inexperienced in wine service, as we brought a vintage wine which was not decanted, presented or poured well. View was very beautiful and romantic although cold near the window. Barolo reduced medium steak was terrible. It was heavily burned with a thick gravy as opposed to a Barolo reduction. The waitress was very friendly and kind to check on us frequently. She did replace the steak with the rack of lamb that was exceptionally good. Tiramisu is much better now than it was years ago. Too many birthday parties with staff annoyingly singing too loud, stripping the restaurant of it's assumed elegance and made you feel as though you were eating at an East Side Mario's chain of restaurant.

I went for Winterlicious 2009. The food quality was a little above average. I started with the jumbo sea scallop chowder that was lukewarm and almost cold. Quite a disappointing start as the flavours were there. The ribeye steak with Barolo reduction made up for the poor start. Not a big fan of wine reductions but the steak was still great and tender enough that I could use my butter knife to cut it! The service was subpar for a fine dining restaurant. I was not given a steak knife and had to wait for a spoon for my soup. My table felt like an afterthought as the restaurant began to fill up and the waiter couldn't keep up. Ambiance is romantic. Good experience overall but I didn't like it enough for the amount of money I paid. Poor value.

It was an exprience a little disappointing. They only had 2 bottles of the wine I ordered they couldn't even fill a full round of wine glasses. We were only a party of 12and they could of told us before opening the wine. They kept serving the wrong food to the wrong people.he portions of the same type varied in size and taste. The steak on the menu was very fatty and disapponiting. The ambiance was very beautiful and very relaxed and the view was fantastic.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 1/30/2009
Toula unfortunatly perpetuates the myth of 'hotel dining'. The service was as bland and non-attentive as the vegetables that accompanied the mains. Rack of lamb was mediocre and the sea bass was not cooked in a way that really allowed it's full flavour to come through- watery, not buttery. Water glasses went unfilled, coffee was not offered and desserts were un-special. Had the place been full I would have perhaps understood. What I saw was a tired space filled with bored staff serving an average overpriced menu. Expensive wine list that doesn't seem to fit the offerings. In desperate need of a make over as it's a very dated space with a nice view. And, don't trust the elevators to stop where you want!

A fine dining experience this was not. The food was mediocre, and we were told that because of Winterlicious steak was not being cooked to order, but rather all were being done medium. The service started out strong and went steadily downhill, food was rushed out before appetizers were completed, empty glasses were never replenished without flagging a waiter, coffee was offered 10 minutes after dessert was cleared and only because we asked for it, and at one point the bus boy asked me to hand him my dining companions dirty plate. The view was beautiful, but unfortunately not enough to compensate for the other issues.

Food was dissapointing - not outstanding as I was expecting. Appetizer *** Main ** Dessert * Did not even eat the dessert Baba With Rum and Vermouth Sauce filled With Custard,Whipping Cream Covered. Recommended by the waiter. Supposed to be drenched in liqueur & was dry as a bone. More like a cake than a custard. We didn't even ask for a recommendation, so I guess they were trying to get rid of them. If I would have read the reviews I just read on another site, it would not have been one of my choices for Winterlicious.

Overall a disappointing experience. Basket of bread served with bread still frozen/cold in the middle. Entree of Sea Bass fillet was nice sized fillet but again was cold in middle. Desserts average. Service was attentive in some areas (water glass filled frequently) but not so much in others (had to ask for ground pepper on several occassions, was never asked by any staff how our meal was/whether we enjoyed it). Expected much more from a fairly pricey spot in Westin Harbour Castle. Other than for the view we probably would not return.
