A word from Touch of India
To impose a delicate charm in the midst of midtown, we started this great restaurant “Touch of India.” Our aim was to design a harmonizing balance of taste & feel of a fine Indian home. Touch of India serves a plethora of cuisines encompassing different regions of India including (South, North, Jain, and Gujarat). Delicacies such Masala dosa from southern India to chat combinations from Bombay are complemented with variety of Indian and American liquors. Our guests enjoy shrimp/chicken briyani, Samosa Chat, Vada Sambar, Nargisi Kofta, Masala Dosa, Kadai Chicken, Mutter Paneer, Butter Nan with a hot cup of masala chai or a cold glass of mango lassi.
We cater a wide array of services from buffet, take outs to party hall with festive style and decor. Our convenient location in Midtown near to all transportation is a plus for our guests to have small gatherings, meeting or other occasions.

Food was ok, but service was awful. When it took nearly 20 minutes to get our drinks, we should have walked out. But we didn't. I might have expected a backup in the kitchen if the place was packed, but there were only 5 tables filled. Other diners commented to us about the slowness and poor service. If you have 2-3 hours for dinner, perhaps this is a good choice, but otherwise, avoid at all costs.

I was in NY for the day and was glad to find an Indian restaurant for lunch in the dining program close to where my morning and afternoon meetings were. I enjoyed the buffet, though some of the items (like the chicken tandor masaala) weren't well/regularly stocked so it was a bit difficult to get a taste of everything. Also, even though I love mango lassi, I think $5.99 is a lot to charge for it. I did appreciate that the staff promptly cleared plates from the table, refilled my water, and was friendly.

Horrible food. Not worth spending money at. Anything but authentic. Went during lunch... was anything but full and yet my guest and I had to wait a good 15 minutes before a server came to take our order[s]. The buffet had empty trays and looked like leftovers from the previous day. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. Many better options available.

Appetizers and tea were great. The main courses dishes we ordered were very disappointing. The chicken was tough and rubbery and the dosa was average.

Amazing Indian food for the price/location. It has all the ambiance of an Au Bon Pan but delivered a wide variety of delicious dishes - from dosa to samosa. The only off note was the Rogan Josh where the quality of the lamb just wasn't up to snuff.

This restaurant is in a bit of a dead area and presentation is certainly unimposing. I was entertaining an Indian friend for lunch and we both felt this was a much more genuine interpretation of the cuisine than usual in New York. Menu is comprehensive e.g. goat biriyani, and food is well prepared. Definitely recommended if you are in the area. point cloates

Very limited buffet (as Indian "all you can eat" buffet lunch offers go), and of very average quality (although not bad). On the plus side, only $9.95, which is one of the cheapest deals around. So if you're looking for fast and cheap without looking for high quality, this is a decent choice. Very basic ambience. Ok for a quick, casual lunch with a couple of friends.

FOOD: Excellent quality. No complaints at all. Definately a good place for indian food in the city. AMBIENCE: Very poor. The place looks very old and run down. Had we not been so hungry, we would have left just based on the appearance of the establishment. SERVICE: Excellent. No complaints. LIKELYHOOD OF RETURNING: Low unless they improve their interior.

We were greeted by a cheerful server who brought us immediately to a table with a pitcher of ice water- very welcome on a sweltering NYC summer day. She personally took us to the lunch buffet and explained the dishes. Tasty vegetarian and non veg options. We had only an hour for lunch so appreciated the expediency of the service in a very busy establishment.

We went to Touch of India on a summer Saturday evening, arriving early for our 6 PM reservation. We were the only ones in the restaurant - not only when we arrived, but for the entire time we were there. While normally that would be a red flag, our meal was quite good, served promptly, but not rushed, and very reasonably priced. Maybe it's their location, in the middle of the block between 7th and 8th on 37th St, which is not exactly a restaurant mecca on a Saturday evening. Maybe it's a lot more crowded on weekdays, and/or maybe they get a crowd later on weekends. Anyway, the Indian food was tasty, fresh, and a good value for the money. Try it.
