  • "My husband and I recently celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at Toscanova, Calabasas. Loved it! The menu is very well rounded and the food was excellent. The service by Loren was awesome, always right there but never hovering. Would highly recommend this resturant."

  • "Everything about this restaurant was a 5 star experience. Generally you either get good food OR good service, but that night we got both. Billy our waiter was attentive and friendly. We'll be going back. This was my first experience with Open Table and I have to say, making a reservation was quick and easy and I love the sending of the invitations part!"

  • "Beautiful patio dining in park like setting. Relaxed atmosphere of casual elegance. Food is the best. Steamed salmon was wonderful. Good portions. Wine on the high side for $10. I can buy a bottle of same for $8. Cost should be less at lunchtime."

  • "I met a friend for lunch. She works near the commons. We were seated outside and it was a lovely afternoon. She had the salmon salad, which says in her favorite. I had the Ceasar salad with ad chicken for $4. The salad was a little under-dressed and I had to ask for anchovy, so they were brought on the side. The chicken was nicely roasted and sliced and remained tender. They did charge me $3 for a few anchovy, which I thought was kind of petty, but whatever. I guess they're hard up because it was kind of slow in there. The place across the way was very busy and I guess they are feeling the pinch. Our waiter, cannot remember his name, was very professional and very calm. Nice guy. Thanks! s"

  • "Chicken Marsala was tough both parties couldn't chew it. You should pound the chicken thin and add capers. Italian food very good. Nice hostess good waiter. Clean place. Train your cooks from Italt. We will be back but we will just order Italian food."

  • "a little more expensive than I was expecting. It's pricing level is not quite right"

  • "The food was good and the waiter very nice. The layout in the restaurant was not attractive to me. It appears to be a large room with many tables (much like a cafeteria, although I know it doesn't equate). The noise level is also akin to a cafeteria. Luckily we were seated in the rear room where there were only 4 other tables. The noise level was much quieter in there, so thank you to the management for understanding my online request of a "cozy" booth to mean I wanted a cozy/quiet dining experience."

  • "Been there numerous times. Menu is boring and preparation of food mediocre. Last time the waiter lost track of us for about 15 + minutes and was clueless. Do not expect top of the line here."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed this place. She is 6 1/2 months pregnant and in the reservation I asked for a corner table where she would be more comfortable sitting down and getting up away from tables too close where she could easily be bumped into. Better safe than sorry... and they were very accommodating. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. Great experience overall and we will be returning again."

  • "Most items we have tried over several visits were delicious. One dissapointment was the fried calamari and zucchini. It was quite tasty, but terribly greasy. Oil was running out of it all over the plate. Had dinner on the patio on a lovely warm February (13th) evening, with a combo playing on the bandstand 20-30 feet away. Made for a perfect evening."

  • "very loud music, cannot carry on conversations, the acoustics in the main dining area just echo every sound making it just like a wall of noise. Food is good, but Century City location has much better food"

  • "The Osso Buco and Short Ribs were the bomb. Also, try the octopus appetizer.... will knock your socks off. Altogether a great evening. Brought our own '01 Brunello and corkage only $20."

  • "This was our first dining experience at this relatively new restaurant in our area. The menu was exceptional with many Italian dishes we were not familiar with. Everyone in our party of four was very satisfied with their choices, and mine, tortolloni with wild mushrooms, was exceptional. I would go there again just to have this dish again. Our waiter, a young Italian man, had the perfect combination of efficiency and charisma."

  • "SERVICE was great, food was pretty good but it's really loud...so recommend going when there are at least 4 in the party..too loud for a romantic twosome."

  • "Good but not great Italian, but outdoor patio on a sunny afternoon it's a wonderful place to be."

  • "Really good house wine and great beef dishes. Although it's in a bit of a strip mall, the place has a very formal set up and the staff are very attentitive and knowledgeable about the wines and food."

  • "Our server made the experience- an Italian native who was fun and and knowledgeable. Some of our food was fantastic- Burrata Mozzarella course, osso buco (special), and pasta with veal, ricotta, kale and mushroom sauce. Other dishes were just good- eggplant parm appetizer and gnocchi (special). The wine list was excellent and reasonably priced. Nice ambiance as well. Probably even better in nicer weather when they open the patio doors. I would definitely return."

  • "Needed to find a halfway location between Ventura & Pasadena so I decided on Calabasas. Not my usual place to dine so did some research online. Came across The Commons and saw Toscanova. Since we were meeting the day after Thanksgiving, we thought Italian cuisine would be a nice change of pace! The service was attentive (but not overly so), & the food was outstanding! We had the spaghetti scampi. I love my pasta al dente & my favorite is when the sauce is cooked right with the pasta. That's exactly how our dish was prepared! The decor was very modern and the lighting was just right (dinner time). The only issue--the noise level. It was extremely noisy where a table of 5 couldn't hear each other. Other than that, we will definitely be back!"

  • "Food and service were good...but the seating arrangement is beyond uncomfortable. You lost us the minute you sat us on top of another table. That's an immediate 3 strikes and you're out for me. We won't be back."

  • "Great appetizer, expensive entree for the area / setting and so-so service"

  • "Food was good, although the lentil soup was bland. Wine by the glass and specials wee pricey. Nice experience, but not a great value."

  • "Crowded Friday night... noise level inside was a bit high so we requested a table outside, which was much better. Food was very good!"

  • "They prepped for my newbie with private rooms chair bf I arrived. The beautiful waitress was personable, accommodating, patient, n made dinner a comical banter with our male companion. Only cons: Mediterranean fish special has small bones still in it n was so overly salted in many areas of that it was inedible, tho we tried hard to enjoy it & chicken parmigiana is thin as a milanesa so it was dry n lacking in texture or taste of chicken. The rest: grilled octopus, calamari, filet, paparadelle pasta...delish!"
