  • "I went there last Tuesday with two of my friends with a reservation. We had a meeting at 7:15, so we were in a slight rush, and I am amazed at the quality of service we received. They were able to get us in and out at the times that I requested through the reservation. The food was fantastic as well. My vongole had the perfect al dente, and my friends loved their meals as well. The only concern was at the end of our meal, they got the dessert wrong, so the service loses a point there. However, overall it was a very enjoyable experience."

  • "Toscano Harvard Square is normally one of our favorite restaurants. The service is very professional, and the atmosphere is nice. My favorite appetizer is the baked eggplant. It is warm and tasty, and it does not have any breadcrumbs which is great! My husband ordered gnocchi for his appetizer, and he really enjoyed it. He ordered sautéed softshell crabs for his meal, and we decided to split them so we each got one. The big disappointment of the evening, however, was the veal chop that I ordered. It was stuffed with prosciutto and cheese, but it was not a rib chop. It was a loin chop. It came extremely undercooked, and I had to send it back. Then, it was tough. I ended up spitting most of it out on my plate. They took it off the bill."

  • "Took a friend out for her birthday and wanted it tobe special. I'd been here before for lunch during restaurant week and my friends and I loved it. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the restaurant decor was lovely. The bread salad is so different and so good as was the wild boar ragu and veal with lemon. Very fresh"

  • "First off our server what a guy!!!!! Honestly he is the best waiter I've ever had at any restaurant! My husband and I went to grill23 Friday night and the experience we had with Samuel at your restaurant was a thousand times better then the grille23! He made great recommendations from the wine, to the apps, to sauces and entrée! All I can say is this gentlemen made our anniversary weekend something to remember forever. We will return and will request that magnificent waiter!!!!!"

  • "Meal 1 - my husband's) linguine with porcini mushrooms - these were NOT porcini mushrooms, they were flavorless little round buttony mushrooms. Linguine was also flavorless. Meal 2 - my mom) gnocchi with tomato sauce - the premade ones from Trader Joes are better. Tomato sauce flavorless. Meal 3 - mine) salsiccia pizza, with mushrooms added - same bad mushrooms. Homemade sausage good. But pizza not special - was wishing I had just done takeout from Emma's or Area 4. Meal 4 - my dad) linguine lobster special - didn't taste, but looked like same flavorless linguine. Bread was good. Tricolor salad was fine. If you must go, sit and bar and have bread and a drink."

Had the melon and prosciutto also and then salads. And tiramasu. Our waiter was great. Love Toscano's, always fantastic!"

  • "A bad start after I was seated early: when my two guests arrived the staff could no longer see my reservation and put them at the bar. After 15 long minutes I was finally "discovered" and reunited with my guests. No real apology from our waiter who simply launched into an aggressive, barely understandable, description of the Daily Specials. The very good food compensated for the sketchy service."

  • "Came here for my S.O.'s birthday. Excellent service, excellent food, and we were delighted when the waitress brought a tiramisu with two spoons to the table - compliments of the house. S.O. claimed his fillet mignon was better than most of the upscale steak houses we'd been to. My scallops were perfectly melt-in-the-mouth. Not the cheapest restaurant around, but you leave with a very favorable impression. We're definitely coming back!!!"

  • "The restaurant was so loud, on a Tuesday night, that the waiter would cup his ear and ask us to repeat things. Very loud, and it seemed unnecessary, since the room isn't that big. But as for the food, the oysters were fabulous, fish and vegetables all cooked perfectly. The prices are quite high- a tiny garden salad is $10, and really no thought went into it, nor any precious micro-greens. So go when you are feeling wealthy!"

  • "Our 5th visit, never disapointed in any item we have had. the swordfish, chicken and salmon are highly recommended. deserts are spectacular and difficult to decide which one to have---you must try the white chocolate blueberry pie and the apricot pie. extremely unusual and delicious. Service no better anywhere, especially if you have Sara as your server. Actually we always ask for her to make the experience just about perfect."

Although among the higher priced restaurants in the Harvard Square area it is worth the cost. The ambience can be lively near the bar or more intimate in the adjoining room. The menu choices are good and at lunch the prices will not break a moderate budget. Staff is friendly and open to requests like a table by the window if one is available without making you feel that you are being unreasonable. Have eaten lunch here in the past and will again on my next trip to the area. O"

  • "With a gift certificate, we chose to celebrate at the Cambridge Toscano. We found the fried oyster mushrooms delicious, the shrimp with an asparagus reduction sauce, a delicate and truly delicious gentle entrée, with berries and zabaglione a perfect dessert. We had one glass of sparkling wine, a larger and fresher glass than often served, and was ample for the whole meal. The other diner found the night's risotto delicious and found Toscano's signature beef Rossini a little overwhelming, or just richer than we were comfortable with, although mighty tasty. The bread wasn't particularly notable. Susan, the highly professional, helpful, and knowledgeable server, helped make the meal—and evening— memorable and delightful."

  • "Not the first visit to this restaurant...One of the best meals I have ever eaten. The four of us shared four antipasti— caprese, meatballs, eggplant, and canteloupe with Tuscan (not Parma) prosciutto—all wonderful, but the melon and that prosciutto were perfection. Others followed with pappardelle and sole; I had soft shelled crabs. I have a lifelong weakness for ss crabs and have eaten plenty (grew up on Maryland shore) and I promise I've never had better. Absolutely sensational. All accompanying vegetables (spinach with garlic, roasted baby potatoes) were excellent. Waiter was terrific and chose a wonderful Italian white for me to try with the crabs. Fresh berries and cheese for dessert. Could not have been a better experience all round."

  • "Based on a Globe review I wasn't expecting much. However, the service was friendly and attentive. A negroni was terrific !The bread was fine. We had the ravioli and the papardelle in appetizer sizes. Both were very good (if rather similar). The soft shell crab dish and the salmon were both very good. The tiramisu was okay. It was served in a parfait type of glass. ( I prefer being told if the presentation is going to differ from the conventional one). We were quite satisfied with the overall experience, especially at the moderate price."

Food choices on and off menu tantalizing and our selections delicious. Although on a schedule never felt rushed and we could enjoy our food with no time pressure. Definitely a go-to place when in the area. Excellent value all around."

It was inappropriate for this kind of restaurant. The dining room needs more sound absorbing materials to make it more comfortable. The food was certainly good, but not up to the standard of the other Cambridge restaurants in this price category."

  • "I grew up in Florence, Italy. The food, the wine and the overall experience matched my expectations for a typical trattoria in Florence. I wasn't impressed by the pizza, and I would have hoped that the minestrone was a bit denser. I especially appreciated the olive oil, the bread and the cheeses. Special mention for the vin santo with cantuccini, a real rarity in the US."

  • "We had a group of 7 after one of the Harvard Graduation events and it was perfect. The staff was polite, flexible, accommodating and very efficient. Everyone had good meals.. the fish stew was excellent, the cod and pasta dishes were great too. Seven people, seven different meals and all excellent. Great variety of menu selections and great service. A gem right in Harvard Sq. Would highly recommend and can't wait to go back. "
