Took a group of 7 to Toscana on a
Wednesday evening. Those who ordered the seafood dishes really liked them and the veal was a winner. I ordered the grilled salmon over avocado risotto, which sounded really promising, but the rice has no seasoning and was tasteless and th esalmon was overcooked. One of our guests described the service as "casual" which was generous because we had to hunt the waiter down to place our orders, get drink refills and get the check."

The front door board listed the
nightly special as ribeye. My wondering mind should have picked up on this..I'm about to dine Italian. The crooner "a la Frank Sinatra" also should have been a warning lable. One diner ordered lasagna...how can you mess this one up...answer they did..no flavor, small portion. Other diner ordered Tuscan Ditalini with mushrooms and ham. Well...the dish was served with elbow macaroni, a thin bland white sauce, 3-4 mushrooms, and very salty cubed ham. Our Caesar salads were lacking flavor. All said and done..it was the worst meal I had in San Antonio."

Live entertainment provided, but
singer was in the back of the room which made him just part of the noise instead of a feature. Food was okay, but nothing outstanding. Appeared to be short on wait staff which was a problem for many diners who were having dinner before the theater."

This was our Valentine's Day spot
choosing based upon menu from out of town. We got there pretty late and it was still packed so this would be a good one to eat late at night. The menu was fine...its a typical Italian restaurant. My wife had an appetizer and a couple sides and I had the lasagna. All were good, but the appetizer was not really enough for two. Overall it was okay, not sure if we'd go out of the way to go back. There is a parking garage across the street, but this place doesn't have valet parking so its not the easiest place to get to by car. If you are already parked and walking then you are good."

Took my girl there for Valentine's
Day. The food was too expensive bland and service was terrible."

I had a House Salad and Pasta
Mediterranean and my wife had Chicken Picatta. The food was nicely cooked, reasonably good and priced but gave the general impression of being tossed together from precooked ingredients. Flavors were not as developed as they should be and the pasta was not as hot as it should be. Good but with a bit more effort should be MUCH better. Altogether a somewhat disappointing meal that was significantly less successful than it could or should have been. Good news is that the prices are reasonably good and generally lower than nearby restaurants."

I recently ate at Toscana for the
first time on a Friday night before a show at the Majestic, and I thought that the service we received was really good, but the food was incredibly bland. It wasn't bad food by any means - my avocado risotto was creamy and had the right amount of bite, and my salmon was cooked well - cooked through but still moist and flaky. However, nothing had much taste at all. I also had the lentil soup, and again, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. I actually prefer what I get out of a box at home. Our waiter had a great personality, took great care of us, but didn't hover by any means. I actually struggle criticizing the food because he was so nice. But will I go here again? Probably not."

Overcooked pasta, lack of
refinement. Good service and an excellent lounge singer. Decent place for a vacation meal, but hardly fine dining."

It was a quiet night. Food took a
while and was just ok. Service was sloppy and indifferent. I think it was the owners or managers sitting directly outside the front door smoking so every time the door opened it was all you could smell. For a slow night, they could do better."
