I have been to Toscsna many times with my family over tbe past two years. We have had many enjoyable meals there. Even though our reservation was at a prime Friday night time, the restaurant was nearly empty. The front display cabinet had been cleard out. Many tables did not even have tablecloths and it appeared they were prepared to serve a small customer base. The food was ok but not up to the level it has been in the past. Are they about to close? We are sorry to see one of our meighborhood favorites go by the wayside.

The location is great, but the restaurant did a poor job with a terrace decor - it comes out into the parking lot and you can see all the surrounding cars which is not relaxing. Food is controversial: one dish is good, the other is really disappointing. Wine list by bottles is only from Italy and for someone who loves Californian / International wines it's an issue.

Upon arrival we assumed a great meal was to be had. When I asked for items on the open table menu I was told it was 2 years old and changed. The food was very bland, nothing special, I would have rather cooked at home. On the bright side, atmosphere and service was very good. But... unfortunately we came for the food and it just wasn't good.

We had a very nice meal- tasty bread with a thin crust, a savory pasta dish with ham and cheese, a very good cannelloni, and terrific tira misu. And a delicous red wine from Tuscany. The owner is welcoming and helpful, and the ambiance was just right for a grown-up family dinner party. Loved the decor with the zany Murano glass chandeliers.

The first time we came to Toscana, we had a delightful experience. The chef happened to greet us at the door and proved a gracious, enthusiastic host, and a great cook. The second time we went, he was nowhere in sight. The service was dim, the food just dreadful. Too bad - we thought we had a new local favorite.

Though we love the everyday food and service we get at Toscana, Mother's Day was quite special. Many families with several generations happily celebrating. We had only two of us, but the welcome was so warm, the attention immediate. The Mother's Day menu had something for all and was tenderly prepared and served. My wife was glowing for two days afterward.

We have been to Toscana many times as a couple, in large groups and for wine tastings. They are much improved from when they opened. At first the food was decent but inconsistent. That has changed-love the thin crust pizzas, salads and desserts. Would highly recommend. The space is very beautiful and classic.

The most horrendous service! We sat all night with empty drink and water glasses on the table. We never received share plates after asking and ate our appetizers out of the serving bowl! The tables are set up with one side looking at the wall which I absolutely hate. The space is so narrow I could hear every word of the tables next to us. The food took forever to arrive. The pizza appetizer was ok and the calamari chewy. The main meals came about 30 minutes later. Pasta was actually delicious and the veal special which the waiter did not describe properly was tasty.

This place was a disappointment. It has potential because the food is good but it is poorly run. I fully expect Mr. Ardaji to indicate that this was voted best new Italian, but I don't know who was voting. As I said, the food was good, tasty, well prepared. The restaurant is simply poorly run. There was a wait of one hour between appetizer and entree and no one told us why. They made sure we had drinks if we wanted, etc. It seems that the waiters are assigned to the entire restaurant rather than tables so it was not clear who was responsible for us.

We had to wait more than an hour for our food to be served. I believe our waiter forgot to put our order in, although we seemed to have been forgotten about. After complaining about the very long wait for our meal, and no one coming over to us and offering at least more bread during our wait and acknowledging the long delay, a second bottle of wine was sent to us (at no charge). Although our dinner was very good, once it arrived, the long delay did not make for a pleasant dining experience.

Love their pizzas, and think they are about the Bes in Firfield County! Thinnest crust ever! Menu is terrific and I keep going back and trying new items and have never found something I don't really enjoy eating here. I wish their coffee cups were larger: my only complaint! Staff is friendly, the place is a bit too dimly lit for me, but makes for romantic dinners!

Very disappointing. Had 8:30pm reservations on a Friday night. Ordered my food with a bottle of wine, that was the only time that the waiter came to my table!!!!. I re-filled our wine glass over and over while the staff was hanging out on both ends of restaurant and the kitchen while the place was more than half empty, no wonder the food was very poor . Never again. Stay away!!!!

Our experience at Toscana was delightful. The greeting at the door was warm and friendly. The restaurant is lovely, beautiful, roman5tic decor in the Italian tradition. Tablecloths and well upholstered chair made for comfortable and quiet dining. All four of us enjoyed our food--excellent salads-i had cucumber, tomoato and onion salad-each ingrediate fresh and tasty. Salmon was excellent and portions very generous. Coffee good and hot and cream warmed. All in all a lovely evening, would definitely come back--gret spot for a family gathering.

With regret I have to say that Toscana has come down considerably from its initial start. The food is just so-so, served by a wait staff that is visibly unhappy (the empty restaurant on a Friday night is a good indication why). The two doors at either end keep the restaurant always uncomfortable and loud mouths at the bar, directly adjacent to the main dining room, make the meal even less of an attraction.

We enjoyed our three course meal. The Burratta and tomato salad was very good...great, fresh cheese. The cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe was also phenomenal. The pounded veal with greens and tomato was also very good. The only thing I would reco to improve the last dish would be to have the tomatoes be chopped and more plentiful, since the cherry tomatoes were not quite enough. Restaurant is very festive and decor/colors/warmth reminded us of Venice!

  • Got served the reheated Branzino
    DariaMVIP
    Dined on 12/28/2012
I'm usually very easy to please. It was my second time at this place and during our first time the food was fairly decent. And this place is very expensive for regular Italian menu. The first course we ordered was a Carpaccio Toscana, and it was OK, arrived very fast after we ordered, which made me a little suspicious. And then literally 15 min in total after we order arrived the main course. I ordered Branzino, and it was clearly re-heated, with vegetables on the side, looking worse than Branzino, reheated, microwaved or whatever. I think it's completely unacceptable when you charge 32$ for this main course or ever, if you pretend to be an upscale restaurant. According to the restaurant staff, desserts is not done in-house either.
