  • "The music was so loud; it felt like a club and not a restaurant. Toro tries to be more experimental rather than let the ingredients speak for themselves. The tapas are overpriced for the portion that you get. The patatas bravas, one of the simplest and most common tapas, which we were served last by the way, were subpar - the romesco sauce was barely on the plate. The boquerones portion tasted very fishy, and they were served alone - something I found odd. The croquetas dish had three (makes a lot of sense for a table of two, huh?) and were very greasy. The blood sausage dish was mediocre - the texture of the al dente fava beans with the sausage was not great. The only dish that was good was the octopus. Wouldn't recommend Toro to anyone."

  • "The restaurant is great as far as the food, drinks and table service. The biggest issue we had was that we showed up early for our reservation and had to wait over an hour to sit. After checking in with the front 5 times over the course of the hour, they finally agreed to buy us a drink at the bar as we had been waiting for so long. Definitely try this restaurant - but not when you're really hungry!"

  • "This was our 4th visit and our 4th round of following dishes that are hard to give up: setas (wild mushrooms with poached egg), white anchovies in olive oil with drop of red pepper and bread crumbs, new dishes were gazpacho, lamb blood sausage and beans. Only issue is noise is very loud even early evening and they do not bring bread without asking, a natural desire to soak up sauces."

  • "Loved my dinner here! Ordered (among other things) the Puplo a la plancha, the huevos diablos, setas (mushrooms with a farm egg) , and the croquettas de baccalao. Everything was outstanding! The noise level wasn't bad until around 7:30-8pm it got a bit louder, but still manageable. Definitely going back to try the rest of the menu!"

  • "Went with some girlfriends. Sat by the bar before our table was ready. They have great drinks; loved the sangria selections and the cape town mule. The soft shell crab sandwiches and baby squid over farm egg are both must haves! The hamburgers were very good too. Will definitely go back."

  • "The food and portions are very good. We ordered the Paella (small) and the size was quite large, plus 3 other dishes recommended by our waitress which was all TOO much food. If you order a paella be careful not to over order. Very cool vibe and great ambiance for groups of friends, a fun dinner out. Suited for the younger crowed who want a great meal with some fun. However the service was not the best. They rush you quite a bit and when you ask for recommendations they rush through the menu so fast you don't even remember what they recommend. Great spot, but the service can improve. It was my boyfriends birthday that night and I could not even get a hold of the waitress outside of our table to ask for a birthday desert discretely."

  • "The tapas was great. We were a froup of five, and picked a lot of different dishes that we shared. That worked well, we ate as they came to our table. Sometimes I thought the time between each dish was a little bit too long, but at the same time this gave us time to let the food sink and really enjoy every dish. I think the music was too loud though, it was hard to talk to each other. But the place had super cool interior!"

  • "Had a fantastic dinner here. The menu offers nice variety. Every dish we had was delicious. Uni bocadillo, the crudo, octopus, lamb blood sausage, home marrow and the blowfish tails (fun and unique). Great service . Our waitress really knew her stuff. She recommended blood sausage and the blowfish tails and we were not disappointed. Fun but casual atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back"

  • "Would not return-from the greeting by the snooty receptionist who would give us any table but the one we wanted-preferring to leave the better table empty until 9pm--through to the waiters inattentiveness -- totally disappointed. Cocktails were brought AFTER THE WINE WAS SERVED -- Really? The only good service came from the bus staff, pleasant, smiling & generally congenial. The bill goes up very quickly - if there are an even number in your party, you need to double up on items since they serve 1 toast with the tuna belly for example or 3 squash blossoms, for example. So much nicer when a restaurant offers to put 4 items for a small supplemental fee rather than forcing the double order. Four of us easily spent $600 without much thought."

Service, though a disaster, rushed asked 3 times for our order, had been seated 15 min with extensive menu then couldn't find server the rest of the night. Empty wine glasses, no help whatsoever, at top tier prices. Check for two close to $300!"

  • "Came early and seated immediately. All service was great. Ordered 6 dishes to share and the first two were very oversalted/close to push away and pass on, but we didn't. Ham and pig face fritters were chopped too fine and there was no distinctive taste to it, sort of a coated and deep fried undefined ball. Abalone dish was cooked perfect but again overpowered by topping. The abalone itself was delicious and cooked perfectly. I love sweetbreads and couldn't pass on the crispy offering. It came drowned in a sweet sauce and tasting the sweetbreads wasn't possible. The lobster, sea urchin, and parsnip was a standout, not over salt or sweet and every taste came thru. Overall I'd say pass on this well touted restaurant."

  • "What a mistake. This is not fine dining, it's a pickup spot for the bridge and tunnel crowd. Deafeningly loud accented by frequent screaming . Average food thrown at you haphazardly . We were warned the paella would take 40 minuets and ordered 4 small plates to start . The paella came out in 15 before any appetizers bland and burned to the pan. The other plates came with long spells of time between , none but the salad very memorable. And the server never ordered our White Sardines which we waited patiently for but left without . Our server tried appeasing us by topping off our wine and a free dessert wine but could be plainly seen drinking between the infrequent visits to our table. Our complements to the bus staff who were most efficient."

  • "Couldn't be more pleased with our experience! Each dish that came out was better than the next. The white Sangria was off the charts and since it was rather busy and our entree took a while to come out they gave us a free round of drinks while we waited and we weren't even complaining! That is good business right there. These managers know how to run a place, need more of this in NYC. Just wish there was a big building obstructing their view of the water!"
