Diner Reviews
  • "Our group had a wonderful dinner at Torc. The deviled eggs and pakora were wonderful small plates that we shared. I had the fig and arugala salad which was excellent with nice ripe figs. For my main course, I had the squab with Chantarelle mushrooms which was fantastic. My wife had the Hslibut and others had the hangar steak. All were very pleased with their meals. We also had a Rioja and a Chateauneuf-du-Pape which were both very good wines. The wine list was interesting and had many well-priced selections."

  • "We were very impressed! We are from Sonoma and just wonder why we cannot have more wonderful restaurants like this in Sonoma. Milt was our waiter and he was so good. We had several small plates..... Crudo; Pedrone peppers; Soft Shell Crab and the Jambon. Everything was special. We cannot wait to return. We spoke with the owner/chef (Sean) at the end and thanked him and he was very approachable and engaging unlike many chef/owners."

  • "Fantastic food. Unfortunately if you're seated at one of their two tops, you may feel like you're eating in the laps of the people who have a table on either side of you. The tables are so close that even a relatively small framed person would need to turn sideways to scoot through. Not only is it a personal space invasion thing, it makes it impractical for service."

  • "The menu is always interesting, changes seasonally and the food & service are consistently very good. We are never disappointed."

  • "Torc-Tasty,Original,Real,Comfortable--Torc delivers what it promises with out hype-not often the norm in wine country dining. Ambiance is very pleasing but not overwhelming-you can hear what your dining companions are saying - the menu is not extensive but everything appears worth trying-a meal can be make of two starters or a main-the service is not slick, but concern for the satisfaction of the client are foremost. It is a place to go to when you want a good meal."

  • "The experience was great. We had three Canadian guests so it was a nice group. All of us enjoyed the wine, food and service. Lots of friendly staff. The wine list only offered one Merlot, and when we wanted to order the same bottle, they informed us that we had drunk the only bottle that they had. What is with that? Our tab was $410.00 and we were charged $4.00 for one cup of coffee. They could have given us a comp. cup. All and all, we were pleased with the dining. This was our 2nd. time there."

  • "This is the 4th time we have been there. The food is great every time. The deviled eggs, tuna tartar, Halibut all cooked perfect. The service outstanding."

  • "Food was awesome and service even better. Kampachi, sweet potato side and yellowfin tuna were impressive dishes."

  • "Torc is a great spot for "foodies" and wine lovers. The portions are small and the prices are high, but it's very feasible to get a bunch of things to share, and the food is very high quality. The staff were very friendly and informed. Corkage price is VERY high, so I wouldn't recommend bringing more than a bottle or two. If not, they have a very impressive wine list. I especially recommend this place for date night or a special occasion. Great overall!"

  • "To put a nerd spin on it, there are a lot of details to notice in the food. I had the yellow fin tuna - and it goes far beyond just fish on a plate - and I am not the kind of person to be able to describe all the food details, but I want to convey that there are little bits of lots of tastes that come with your order. If you are looking for something interesting and tasteful try this, eat it slowly and pay attention - it's worth it."

  • "The food is spectacular. Not sure what else I can say other than I smell a James Beard nomination in the future. Torc's pastry team is putting out some of the best desserts I've ever had. Simply remarkable."

  • "TORC is just fair, nothing special, ridiculously priced for the meal you receive. We left feeling eh....just ok, and that we had ripped off."

  • "Fantastic meal and superior service. Truly gourmet with reasonable prices. We enjoyed the NY Strip for 2 and it was amazing! The sweet potato app was delicious too. Great wine list as well! Will definitely come back"

  • "The food was outstanding at Torc. Definitely a must in Napa!"

  • "Food was prepared with high end ingredients and the presentation was lovely. For the most part, we enjoyed everything. However, we spent about $150, despite ordering fairly light (1 glass of wine each instead of a bottle, small starters instead of appetizers, shared dessert) and were hungry a few hours later. I had the short ribs and the eggplant was oddly tasteless. All the other dishes were outstanding. There are so many choices in the Napa Valley, I am not sure that we will be back."

  • "We created reservations through Trip Advisor. I put in our comments that we were visiting Napa Valley for the first time in celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated right away and congratulated warmly on our anniversary. They brought us complementary glasses of champagne, which were refreshing and a great way to start the evening. Throughout the ordering and service everyone congratulated us and were very attentive. The culinary skills were impeccable and you could tell much thought was put into it. The courses were amazing. We highly recommend for ambience, food, and service."

  • "This was our first time at Torc, and we are completely satisfied, shall return, and we recommend this restaurant. We read other reviews that suggest the portions are too small. We do not think so. Yes, a bit more arugula with the fig salad would be nice, but our halibut main course was more than enough. I ordered a side of beans which, wile very good, were not necessary. Bubbles are available by the glass, and the Cabernet/ Petite Syrah blend was excellent and reasonably priced."

  • "We've been to Torc several times, always enjoying it, but I'm a little disturbed by my most recent main course--a boar chop. It was delicious, but there wasn't much meat on the chop--too much gristle and fat. At the price--$34--I expected a bit more. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but not always as attentive as they could be. I had to wait several minutes before my signal for attention was noticed and I could order another glass of wine. Still, the menu is the most imaginative in Napa, and well worth a visit."

  • "The place was pretty empty when we arrived at for our 6:45 dinner reservation but it was early, and a Wednesday night. Things quickly picked up speed as the night went on and by the time we left it was full of patrons. The food was amazing and the staff was on top of every aspect of service."

  • "Nice ambience. Ordered the white spring Crane Ranch lettuce salad with nectarines. It was ok. Too much mint in the salad though - it over-powered all of the other flavors. My husband and I both ordered the Eurasian Boar. Don't waste your money. It wasn't very flavorful and we were told it was a "double" chop, we probably had less than 2 oz. of meat. I was offered a sprinkle of Truffles on top of my boar, which I gladly agreed to and didn't realize it was an extra $30! Wow, a big surprise. The tomato salad was AMAZING. However, we were both hungry when we left. Don't think we'll be back too soon."

  • "Very little value here. Entree and risotto were mediocre. Service was great."

  • "The food was very tasty but portions were too small for price. We left feeling hungry. Ravioli entree is literally only 4 ravioli. I would have given more stars had the portions been a little more generous... Service was friendly and prompt. Although I enjoyed the food I probably won't go back. Definitively did not satisfy my husband and son."

  • "What a treat. I finally went to Torc on a date and we shared 4 different dishes -- minted peas, fritto misto (squash blossoms, black olives and snap peas), morel mushrooms with white asparagus, and halibut. Every one was outstanding, prepared to perfection. The flavors, aromas and textures made it a dining experience to remember. I'll definitely be going back."

  • "Napa Valley has many great restaurants, Torc should be on your list of ones to visit. I started with the cold asparagus and mushroom soup. The soup was visually appealing but lacked asparagus flavor. I then has the soft-shell crab, it was tasty and "light" not over battered. Along with the crab I had the sides of 1)fava beans along with fava leaves, and 2)fresh peas. Both vegtables were cooked perfectly. The wine section was some what limited in local wines, next time we might bring our own bottle. The service was very good, but not over the top. The food is good enough for a foody. Torc is a standout restaurant in an area of many great establishment. YOU SHOULD TRY TORC."

  • "We did not realize that there was no bar. Our friends were quite disappointed as they like their cocktail before dinner. I was especially sensitive about this since I had said "Torc is new...we have been out of town for a few months..didn't know too much about it...let's try it.." Soft shell crab was wonderful.."

  • "A friend suggested this restaurant and it was an awesome find! The food was unique and tasted wonderful! Our waiter was also very good. We basically let him pick our menu and the small appetizers were great to share with two people. We would definitely go back again!!"

  • "Came on the recommendation of several Napa natives. Great food, lots of wine choices by bottle; lesser options for just a glass. Wine and beer only. The waiter was excellent. The food was very good; a great choice for sharing plates or sampling several dishes. "

  • "This was our second visit, and the restaurant did not disappoint. It has a very attractive dining atmosphere with an attentive wait-staff, and a excellent menu. Our party of 4 ordered different dishes which we then shared. There was not a disappointing choice. We highly recommend this restaurant. Congratulations."

  • "We love Napa Restaurants. This one needs to find its stride. We dropped $200 and later that night I dove into a bag of popcorn. Four pork ravioli which was admittedly on the small plate menu did not do the trick. The deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake with Lavender Angel Food Cake was delish, but, again, very small portions. Service was so-so. You know the drill with new restaurants -- not very crowded, new employees not working as a team yet and seemingly not empowered. No sense of pace yet. We'll probably give it one more shot in a few months."

  • "A very pleasant bright modern restaurant, with great chef inspired meals however unfortunately it lets itself down with the lack of front of house management. Waiting staff are not at the same standard as the food. Not terrible but not good enough, for the quality of restaurant."
