  • Public Transit: Nantucket Town is nine miles from The Wauwinet. The inn provides complimentary jitney service 12 times daily from 9 AM to 11 PM. We pick up from the Information Bureau on Federal Street, we also pick up from the White Elephant Hotel from 6.00pm-8.00pm on the hour.

TOPPER`S is able to offer an elegant dining experience in our cozy dining room. Restaurant guests who prefer a more casual experience are invited to enjoy dining on our awning-covered, heated deck. The lower patio is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail overlookiing TOPPER`S garden and the Head of the Harbor. The sunsets are stunning. These outdoor areas are ideal to fully appreciate the tranquility and the magnificent setting of the inn.
TOPPER’S is located at The Wauwinet, the only Relais & Châteaux property on Nantucket. Winner of the Wine Spectator Grand Award for many years, TOPPER’S is known for it`s culinay standards and service standards, on-site herb garden, and innovative use of the freshest local ingredients guarantee an unforgettable dining experience. Visitors without vehicles can take The Wauwinet Jitney from Federal Street in downtown Nantucket, or enjoy a complimentary boat ride on The Wauwinet Lady which launches from The White Elephant Hotel

  • "My Husband and I took the launch to Toppers for lunch. Our son and girlfriend rented mopeds and met us at the restaurant. We were served outside. We all had lobster and salads. The Frits were very good. Bloody Mary's very refreshing. My husband and took the shuttle back because we wanted to have a leisure lunch. The lunch dropped us at toppers at noon and was leaving at 1:30 that did not leave a lot of time for a leisure lunch."

  • "Very elegant with wonderful service. The only reason for a 4 Star with regard to food is that the menu is very limited. The food had many flavors and was quite nice. My Halibut was soft but the flavors were from the veggies, not the fish and thus the fish was bland. The Beef tenderloin was excellent. Limited appetizers, entrees and desserts to choose from."

  • "A remote setting provided a quiet outdoor dining experience with views of the harbor. The food was excellent (although the omelette was on the small side) with the granola being a highlight as well as the island-roasted coffee. While the price was not insignificant it was no more than the restaurants in Nantucket Town were charging without the quiet and the view. (We had a cottage in Sconset so did not stay at the Wauwinet but it looked lovely.)"

  • "Having spent the last 20 years of my life coming to Nantucket over the summer Topper's was a place I visited occasionally. This time the food was outstanding but the service was just chaotic and playing the "Benny Hill theme music" could sum it all up. From watching waiters and management walk by our table with empty plates, making us pour our wine, listening to plates being dropped every five minutes, and seeing other tables looking at each other tables shrugging and wondering where the service staff was just not what I expected. The food deserves better staff and the customers should get better service considering the price we're paying and that it's a Relaix & Chateau. Inexcusable."

  • "There are so many fabulous restaurants on the island, each with their claim to fame, but Topper's is the only restaurant where you can enjoy amazing food ...and watch the sunset over the water while sipping your martini....and just when you think you are in heaven, the sun begins to sink lower and an unspoken custom encourages that you leave your table and walk through their gates to get as close as to the water without getting wet... and this is where we all wait. Wind blowing, quietly chatting, peacefully watching for the end of our Nantucket day. It is so spiritual and magical."

  • "Toppers is located in one of Nantucket's most beautiful hotel / resort. Fabulous grounds and spectacular views. Service is very polished and attentive. It might even be considered over the top but, enjoyable none-the-less. Food was terrific but the menu was a bit limited--could use a broader selection of fish entrees--seeing its on an island. I had short ribs which were outstanding. They were prepared sous-vide and were absolutely the most tender and succulent ribs I've ever had. Very attentive staff. Impressive wine list. As expected, prices were very high."

The dining room, while full, never feels "crowded", and the wait staff makes sure that each table feels like it is the most important. If you can, splurge on the caviar, a special treat that is beautifully presented, and tastes wonderful. Dinner here is always a special occasion! We never tire of dining at Toppers at the Wauwinet . . . a gorgeous and delicious ending to a 15 year anniversary stay."

Everyone enjoyed their meal but nothing stood out as THE BEST! Disappointed as we usually had great meals here. However, must say we did not go away hungry as the chef sent out numerous samplers to try of which the sampler corn chowder was wonderful. You should put it on the menu."

  • "We used to love this restaurant but the quality of service and food has gone way down. Everyone in our party ordered the hamburger but three asked for a temperature of medium rare. All the burgers came well done. We love to enjoy a cocktail before dinner and always order before they ask what kind of water we'd like. Drinks service is extremely slow. We do not mind paying for a quality drink but they have decreased the size of the martini glass. It's absurd!!!!the owners need to spend some money on decorating. There is nothing elegant about sitting on a deck under a hot awning. The air does not flow. The flowers are beautiful and the view of the harbor fantastic but the temperature under the white awning is 20 degrees warmer."

The food was very good and we expected it to be expensive ( and it was), but the service was snobby, and there were several missteps throughout the evening. We wanted to take the complimentary water taxi for dinner, but were never told ( especially by the employee who confirmed our reservation that day) that the ONLY water taxi for any dinner reservation (ours was 8 pm) is at 5pm and the returning water taxi is at 8pm. We had to resort to taking a very expensive cab ride to dinner and did not enjoy the "water aspect" of our evening. Once at the restaurant, we were seated in a remote table for 2 by the kitchen, and were told this was the only table available. We will not return."

  • "We celebrate our anniversary at Toppers every year for the past five years. We ordered two lobster dishes. However, it was not edible. It was translucent. I heard another table complaining as well. While we did not say anything to the staff, I think that the chef should cook the lobster a little more. Do not mind paying for a great meal but to pay $90 for each plate and not enjoy it was not good"

While dining on the deck one may choose items on either the "Deck Menu" or the inside "Dinner Menu", thus allowing one a multitude of culinary choices. We had a tasty Wauwinet-ini as the sun lit the sky in purplish pink hues. Then we enjoyed hamachi "pizzas" for delectable and artistic appetizers. This was followed by an entree that was so delicious...a duo of tender short ribs and perfectly cooked sirloin slices. Dessert was also a treat with a beautifully presented rendition of peach Melba. The portions of the beef entree and dessert were small but they were very delicious. We will certainly return again for a special occasion meal as the service, ambiance and food are first-rate!"
