Diner Reviews
  • "The view was wonderful but the food wasn't edible. $16.95 for2 pieces of scallops that were so chewy, you couldn't even manage to swallow them. We gave up on eating it. The waiter took it out of our check but the rest of the food wasn't good either. We used to eat here regularly when we lived in Waikiki and it was pretty good. I don't know what happened."

  • "The ambiance and view was awesome. Reservations was for 7pm (seated pretty quickly)able to see waikiki, the sunset then the city lights. My husband steak/shrimp and my filet mignon was very tasty and not that expensive either. They validated parking from about 5-10:30pm Had a great time!"

  • "There is nothing good about this restaurant even the view is not so impressive. The drinks were terrible, the bartender made our White Russians terrible, they were undrinkable. Then we ordered dirty martinis tasted like olive juice. The service was not attentive. No dress code. Simply this place have no quality, the service, food, drinks have no quality. We just went there to enjoy the view but the view was not impressive either. Simply terrible experience."

  • "View is great. Steak is delicious. Steak is great. Cocktail you have ordered is slow in coming. The staff was busily. A little noisy but no problem. I think a good restaurant, in Waikiki. I also want to go. Thanks for the good time."

  • "Each time we go here, we are more and more grateful for the experience. One of the best views in Waikiki (albeit not on the beach) where you can feel like royalty and have creative and reliably delicious meals. The chef's preparation of the mongchong cannot be beat-we're having a hard time moving to other choices each time we go because it's so good! The pear salad is inventive, fun (cracking open the lumpia filled with warm salty cheese) and an explosion of flavors. Our waiters are always top notch."

  • "Great atmosphere to dine in during the sunset. Service and scenery was over the top. Food however was mediocre. Really disappointed with the surf and turf. Steak was good but the "half lobster tail" was as big as my thumb. For almost $50, I reccomend you order something else"

  • "The view is spectacular and the food is excellent. Chris and Charlie took great care of my fiancé and me and John was a gracious host."

  • "It was really loud there and I had to send my steak back twice. First time it had a hair on it and the next time it was rare when I ordered it medium well. The staff was nice about it and of course I requested it be removed from my bill. I wouldn't eat there again."

  • "They have a great view and i think they think that people will get distracted by the view and not focus on the food. The garlic fries were too sweet the duck seemed old and was not cooked well the only vegiterian dish was like a third grader made it. The only thing that was okish was the corn chowder and that was barley okish."

  • "The experience here was great from beginning to end, service was great, chad and edward were very attentive and helpful. The food was great, will be going back."

  • "Brought my fiance here to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We came during the end of happy hour. We ordered 3 rounds of drinks from the happy hour menu. Our appetizer (ewa sweet corn chowder) and that was amazing. The entrees we ordered were delicious. The dessert (toasted hazelnut gelato pie) was just as amazing as everything else we ordered. The service was great and prompt. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We will be coming back again."

  • "The view was very nice, you can see the water most of the way around as the dining room rotated. If you get there earlier than your dinner reservation is set for, service at the bar was very good and is a nice place to start. The entire staff was very nice, pleasant and spoke to you, not at you; which as a refreshing change from other restaurants. We went just before sunset and had a good table for most of our dinner. The only con I found was if your one of the people facing into the sun, as it drops below the top of the restaurant, you‘d get it straight in your eyes for about 15 minutes as you swing around. My mom and I had to hold up a menu to shield ourselves and still be able to see the other members of our family across the table."

  • "We went here for the kids. The concept was neat but the restaurant is dated. It needs a remodel. Food was okay at best. My husband's steak was extremely chewy. Bad! The kids meals were extremely lacking. Tempura battered chicken strips does not equal chicken nuggets of worse quality than costco. Skipped dessert. Won't be back or recommend."

  • "The food was ok. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I had the filet and it was a little undercooked but I honestly didn't mind. My mom had the snapper and she loved it, she doesn't like shrimp though so the risotto wasn't a good for her. My dad had the lamb two ways but he only enjoyed that half that was bone in. The servers were nice though. The view was awesome. I will think about coming back again but I don't know"

  • "The food here was amazing definitely worth the money. This was the best place my husband and I ate on the Island. The food was just amazing, I had salmon and my husband had the filet mignon. We felt a out of place the scene was much nicer than we are used to. The staff and waiters were all so nice and helpful. They truly catered to our every need. The view was so nice i got alot of great pictures of diamond head and the ocean."

  • "The view is what you are here for. The service was ok we had to wait a long time for service but he was very nice. Food left a little to be desired, salad dressing tasted like olive oil and no pomegranate flavor. Ribs were excellent. Salmon very good, pasta not very good."

  • "We had the special of lobster for me - nothing notable, just simple and steamed, husband had the steak special. The steak had good flavor. Happy hour appetizers are the same items and pricing as any other time of night from the main menu, and it's all fried."

  • "We go to Top of Waikiki every time we visit Hawaii and are never disappointed. Appetizers, entrees and desserts are one-of-a-kind, the only problem is that there is not enough choice for vegetarians. Other than that, service is excellent and we will continue to visit Top of Waikiki."

  • "Top of Waikiki was a great anniversary dinner. Everyone was friendly and the drinks from the bar were great! It was awesome to overlook the city. Overall it was a great experience. I'm so happy we decided to dine here. I recommend to at least try it once, the view is awesome. I would even consider just going for drinks at night."

  • "We had a special occasion - a birthday to celebrate. Our waiter was outstanding. We never had to look for him, he kept watch on his tables and appeared at the right time and had a good sense of timing our meal. We had fun pointing out different buildings and views of Waikiki and slowly watched the sun fade into a gorgeous sunset."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 4th anniversary, Saturday, 21 June at Top of Waikiki. I had special requests for candlelight and bubbly waiting table side before we arrived. The restaurant staff came through brilliantly. I received a call from the restaurant about 3 hours prior to our dinner confirming the reservation and requests. We arrived about a half hour early and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartenders were very diligent in their service, as well as friendly. Upon being seated for dinner, we were met by our waiter who was exceedingly pleasant. My wife and I didn't order appetizers, but our entree was outrageous! Although my side dish was forgotten, our steaks were overwhelmingly delicious! We will definitely be coming here again."

  • "We had 11 people in our party. The food was great the views were perfect the restaurant turns so you get views of everything. Our only issue was that service was very slow, they were busy and we did have 11 people however it seem to take a while to get someone over to take drink orders and get bread. Over all it was a great dinner we would recommend Top of Waikiki"

  • "Very nice scenic view perfect for picture taking. The service was mediocre. The guys that served us was not friendly at all and some of the other waiters must have been having a bad day because they did not seem happy to be there. It is not about the customer for this restaurant, its about getting you in the door for the scenic view. The food portions were small and expensive. We made the best of it, but definitely not impressed with the customer service and food."

  • "Dinner was delicious. The view from the beach side was amazing. The downtown side was beautiful after the sunset. Made our anniversary very special."

  • "I'm not sure why all the great ratings for this place. The food was mediocre, especially for the price. The calamari was salty, the coconut shrimp excessively sweet. The surf and turf was a joke. The meat had almost no flavor and came cold. The turf part of the equation included a piece of lobster so small it was gone in two bites. The rib eye much the same as the filet. While the view is spectacular, it was not worth the price with the sheer noise level of the place. Energetic is not the right rating, it was LOUD. It was hard to hear my date sitting across from me. Instead of being a place for a romantic date, it was anything BUT romantic."

  • "It was my first and most likely the last. Waste time & money. View was awesome. Personally would like to go there after dark to enjoy city view than bright day light because I got dizzy..."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Top of Waikiki for our anniversary, and it was truly a great experience. The food was delicious and the view was spectacular. The service was fast and friendly too. I would definitely recommend Top of Waikiki to others for a romantic date night. Even if it's not a special occasion, I would consider it a fabulous hot spot for dinner."

  • "The view is amazing so at a minimum I would suggest going for drinks. We went for dinner and had the steak and the pork chop - both were excellent!"

  • "This place has the best views of Waikiki! Our server (Frank) was awesome, but we wished they would have given us more time between courses. The kitchen definitely seemed to be rushing us."

  • "The view was lovely, up on the 18th floor in a revolving dining restaurant, but that was the only notably positive thing about the experience. I could have cooked a better meal with the ingredients myself. The seared ahi was under-seared, and it was a good thing I liked sashimi, because basically, that's what it was. I could have seasoned the Day Boat Scallop better than how it was served. The soy miso short ribs was way too sweet, even my husband couldn't help me finish it off----and mind you, it was from a tasting menu, so the serving wasn't large. The chocolate macadamia nut tart was also waaaaaay too sweet. Hubby's kurobuta pork chops were okay, he said----he's tasted better, but it was good. Waiter forgot the cutting knife."

  • "Expected tourist trap quality, but discovered a culinary gem. In addition, our waiter Frank was very friendly and provided outstanding service. The view speaks for itself."

  • "View was great. The happy hour menu was the only thing I would go back for. The short ribs we awesome. But the dinner was not. The service was great but when the food isn't good and u don't finish your meal it doesn't seem worth the $130 I spent."

  • "My experience with my wife at Top of Waikiki for our anniversary were good not great. The food was amazing and the best part of the experience, however having a mix of waiters and having to wait for such a long time to be waited on wasnt good. The restaurant was also semi-loud and it was hard to hear my wife sitting across from me. Overall, a great meal I just hope that maybe for the future the place with be more classy instead of shorts and flip-flops and that it can be significantly less noisy."

  • "Food was great, service was friendly. However the food seemed to have taken a little longer than usual to arrive tonight. Great 360 view of Waikiki. We miss the chocolate fondue dessert and hope they bring it back."

  • "Was very excited about going to Top of Waikiki, we have a revolving restaurant in Auckland called the Sky Tower, they could not be more different. The service and food at Top of Waikiki made even Deny's look good. The waiter had very little knowledge of the menu or wines. The comi waiter looked very scruffy more or less throwing items on the table, no regard for the paying customer. The food looked good when it arrived but, the flavours were bland, service very unprofessional considering the prices. I have no problem paying for good food and service. This didn't delivery on any of those. Sky City, Auckland, New Zealand, you have nothing to worry about, your food and service is far superior, not as a expensive and views even better."
