Diner Reviews
  • "This place was great. The food was fantastic. The crusted onaga with risotto was to die for. Our server was awesome, he gave great recommendations. The Tower moves but it's not a huge move. It's very subtle. It's quite cool one you realize that it is moving. When we come back to Hawaii we will most definitely be back. "

  • "I decided to take my girlfriend to this restaurant so we could watch the sunset over waikiki and it delivered. The place has great unrestricted views of the tourist area. I was somewhat disappointed at the food, nothing that really "wowed" me and honestly I felt the food lacked taste. I would definitely go back but just for drinks."

  • "My wife's steak, ordered well done, came medium rare, and in-laws side orders of Garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus came after they had finished their main course. I came to celebrate a birthday, and was told when I made the reservation that there would be a small desert given gratis, however no one bothered to notify our waiter. Enough problems to rate above annoyance and below serious issue. "

  • "This was our first chance to taste new Executive Chef' Lance Kosaka's update menu for the Top of Waikiki. First of all the view is immaculate. No other restaurant in Hawaii has a view so breathtaking. The service was wonderful. The scallops were heavenly. There was a nice sear on the outside, while the inside was cooked perfectly. The flavor was divine. We also had the Korean Poke. The fish was so fresh, it practically melted in our mouths. We had the corn chowder with green chiles. The roasted chiles offered a nice contrasting flavor to the creaminess of the soup. The pork chop and lobster we had were also outstanding. The pork chop was full of flavor. Such a great experience! We hope to go again soon!"

  • "Beautiful restaurant. Not as much smiling from the workers as I expected, but everyone was very cordial. Excited for the food because I don't treat myself to fine dining except for occasions. I happened to come when they served their Sunset Menu. I decided on an entree from that it since it's only available at that time. I got a cocktail from the regular menu because I wasn't given the Sunset Menu until later. The dinner rolls and mango butter were my favorite part. So soft and the mango butter was a delight. However, my mango colada was too sweet that it took me the entire length of dinner to finish it. My fish was very salty and my chips were too sweet. A couple of bites were ok. Everything after, I needed water after every bite."

  • "Had an awesome dinner with family. All the employees were great, friendly and very professional. They make you feel special. Also great and accommodating for kids. They go out of their way. And the view--- Priceless! Food was delicious too! Eating at the Top of Waikiki was actually one of my favorite parts of vacation!"

  • "Whether you are just popping in for a quick dinner or have special guest in town, Top of Waikiki is always a great option. The scene and views are always great, lively atmosphere and the service staff is helpful and upbeat. Food is tasty but not pretentious and they validate if you park in the building."

  • "The restaurant has great food and service! However, we went hoping to see a spectacular sunset from high up. What we quickly realized is that Top of Waikiki is nowhere near as high as other tall buildings between the restaurant and the beach (to the west). So the sunset was hidden behind other tall hotel buildings. In general, I found Waikiki much too busy and congested for my liking. Reminded me of an area trying to mimic Las Vegas, but looks more like Atlantic City (in the busy summer)."

  • "It was interesting to note that a family of six who arrived right before us without a reservation that there weren't any tables left, but there was at least 20 tables available when we were seated. The service was excellent, if a bit disjointed. I only say that because we had six different servers during the course of the meal. However, I will take that over slow service any day! The food was excellent -- the only surprise was the scallops appetizer was only a two count. The only disappointment was the dress of some of the customers. One guy with a cartoon sumo wrestler on his t_shirt, and a lady with her Metallica shirt on. Otherwise though, a great meal and a neat atmosphere!"

  • "Another great dining experience, all around. We were there while the "Sunset Menu" was offered (5 to 7pm). It had some things from the regular menu on it, at the same price, and some items unique to that menu. All were good, apps and entrees. Service was prompt and professional, and we were recognized and thanked for our repeat business. Highly recommended."

  • "I have been here several times and enjoyed the experience. With the taller buildings in the neighborhood, the view isn't as great as it once was. In fact, the sunset was blocked by a high-rise. Rotating restaurant is still unique and fun. Just wish there was more to see than buildings. Short rib was EXCELLENT but the potatoes were a little heavy on the wasabi for my taste. Overall good experience...just disappointed that you couldn't watch the sunset (went the 2nd week of April). Still a must if visiting Waikiki."

  • "So glad we came during happy hour, soon after (6ish) it got very busy. The view was amazing and the waiter/server was very nice. The food was good and prices were reasonable. Deffinitiely had a good meal."

  • "My husband and I dined here mainly for the views of Honolulu and those are beautiful. The the food was good, not great but good and presented well. Our waiter's service was a little slow, considering that it was not busy at all. The staff filling our waters was very attentive. The decor of these rotating restaurants, many built in the 70's can get dated as was the case for this one. I realize the restaurant is not the owner of the building but the inside the building, up the escalators was a bit dingy and dirty, especially the wall paint where you can see dirty hand prints on the walls. The whole night could be more special/romantic-better ambience-especially for the price that you pay for drinks/dinner if the place was spruced up."

  • "My husband and I were greeted immediately by friendly hosts as soon as we arrived for our date night. Once we checked-in, the staff called us by name throughout the night, which made the experience more personable and memorable. Our servers, Chris and Nick were very friendly, attentive and knowledgable about the menu items and recommendations for drink and food choices. We were very impressed and appreciative of the excellent customer service we received. The food and drinks were all very good and pricing for Happy Hour was exceptional...best Happy Hour in Waikiki. Of course, the view was outstanding! We are definitely looking forward to another date night at the the Top of Waikiki!"

  • "BUT your "host" "greeter" "front person" needs professional/personable training; Restroom inquiries were met by not looking up & telling us where to find it. We couldn't hear her clearly so we said "I'm sorry but we didn't hear you past "left" so she repeated again without looking up. The quality of the restaurant requires a little more professionalism than that."

  • "My wife and I went to the restaurant on our wedding night and we had a very romantic evening. The staff there are excellent at their craft and very personable, professional and absolutely friendly. Our waiter Chris was fantastic, very courteous and kind towards us; a true gentleman & professional, thanks Mr. & Mrs. Victor Martin."

  • "The overall is OK, the price is right but is something noise. In facts, the most important value is the view."

  • "The evening was pleasant. The ambience was good, just a bit too loud. The steak and mashed potatoes had a good flavor. I had the Maine Lobster -not so wonderful. The presentation of the lobster on the plate was wonderful but for $60 I got about 10 bites of meat. There was not plate to put the shells -when I was able to get them open-on and since I had to crack all of the pieces I cam a way with stains on my dress. All in all too much work for not enough food. I will say that the coconut shrimp appetizer was amazing!!!!! Will likely return but won't be having the lobster."

  • "We have eaten here several times and had excellent food. This time we were very disappointed. Service was very good. We had to eat earlier than usual for us and we had food from the sunset menu. I ordered fish & chips. I have never had fish & chips made with Ahi and it was terrible. Neither myself or my husband ate the fish and he loves ahi and orders it most of the time. The fries had some kind of weird seasoning on them and also tasted terrible. My husband had the steak & shrimp. The shrimp were good but the steak was very tough. Based on this experience I do not know if we will ever return."

  • "Great food, wonderful service and a view that won't stop. You feel like you stepped back into the past and were having a romantic dinner on your Pan Am layover on the way to the South Pacific."

  • "The service was terrible. There were not many people there but we still were ignored and the waiting was overly long. It was very bad."

  • "An amazing view, attentive wait folk.. but menu choices for vegetarians were limited to one dish unless you want the ubiquitous and deadly boring offering of pasta and salad as entrée alternatives. Wouldn't rush to go there again"

  • "A bit pricey, but not a tourist trap. Wonderful views. Friendly, professional staff. Most importantly, delicious food. Highly recommend the scallops, pear salad, pork chop. Certainly one of the "top" places to eat in Honolulu and Waikiki."

  • "This has to be one of the restaurants in Wakiki! Service was great, wine selections are wonderful, food was fantastic, and the view of Wakiki while enjoying your dinner is breath taking!! I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone!"

  • "Panoramic view of Waikiki, great service and wonderful food delights! For locals and tourist alike, Top of Waikiki is a gem! Bar staff is EXCELLENT! Max, Garrett, Ernie and Cameron - best bartenders in Waikiki! Even with all the amazing options in Waikiki, make sure you stop in for their 2 happy hours, yup - 2 happy hours in one night and catch the sunset!"

  • "Looking for a place to treat my brother and sister in law while they visited Hawaii. I checked OpenTable for a list of restaurants (first time to use mobile app ... loved it) and saw Top of Waikiki. Although I have lived here for several years I had never eaten here before but knew the view would be great. And it was. Great food ... not "the best" but very good. I will eat hear again. This is not a one and done place. Service was good and we could hear each other talk. In-laws loved their drinks. I am very happy I took a chance on this new place and plan to visit again."

  • "How lovely! My daughter and I had an early dinner for her 15th birthday. Interesting to be on a 'carousel.' By the time we finished our meal, we ended where we started. The views of Waikiki are spectacular and the service and food was excellent! The highlight was, we got to see the sun dip into the ocean..."

  • "1st two times have been great; atmosphere, views, service, menu selection & food which is why we took our party there on Friday (14th). Friday's visit was a little disappointing with our meal; I ordered my ribeye medium/medium well - it came well done, my husband ordered his filet well done - came medium, my friend ordered her steak well done - came medium, her husbands ribeye was perfect. Don't know what happened here but it wasn't usual perhaps an isolated night - hope it improves."

  • "It was my first time at the Top of Waikiki.. Everything was outstanding. The noise level was overwhelming, most times we couldn't hear what he was telling us. I was hoping to bring my mother-in-law for my next visit but feel she would have difficulty with her wheelchair and to the ladies restroom."

  • "Took the family to Top of Waikiki while on vacation. The kids enjoyed the view as much as the waiter. Got the whole 360 degree experience including fireworks. Kids wanted to go back which is a telling sign."

  • "I took my wife to this restaurant for her birthday dinner. We thought it would be really fun as it is a rotating restaurant with 360 degree views of Waikiki. The view is beautiful, and save for the several minutes you spend passing the ingress/egress hall and kitchen access, it's really nice. Cocktails were well made and delicious, and the staff was courteous and attentive. At first we felt a bit rushed by our server however, we casually mentioned that we wanted to take our time and he immediately adjusted in response. Service was great and our server was friendly and fun. The food was only alright, so this isn't a place to go if you're looking for fine dining. Here, it's all about the view, and the view is exceptional."

  • "First date night away from the kids. The food was outstanding. I had the tasting choice. It was five plates of items on the menu including a dessert for 65.00. Well worth it!!! The short ribs where amazing, the filet was out if this world. My husband and I had a great view. The service was attentive, and helpful. The cocktail, naughty and nice" was spicy and sweet it was amazing!!! I would defiantly spurge here again. My only complaint is the carpet between the escalators needs to be replaced. But that's it..."
