We spent the night in Phoenix prior to my son's departure from Skyharbor airport. Top of the Rocks offered a perfect opportunity for a farewell dinner. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the noise of a large group in the upper level of the restaurant. Our server, however, skillfully guided us to a table directly next to the large panoramic window with a great view over the city and very acceptable noise level. The veranda looked very inviting but one member of our party is particularly temperature sensitive and requested inside seating. The food was excellent and we found a great bottle of wine to go along with all our entre choices. Overall a an excellent dining experience. Our only regret was that "The Buttes" was sold out and we had to stay in a nearby hotel.

  • Maitre D serving food....its a bad sign

Walked in and first thing we see is the maitre d serving tables and the hostess bussing...probably not a good sign. Got a great outside table on the point looking over the city. The problem was that after waiting an hour and a half for our dinner, the patio heater near us burned out and the wind came up....even with jackets we froze. Had to ask to be moved inside...Herculean feat obviously. Once inside at a little bar table they seemed to have lost us. We saw the maitre d take our food to our old table and then back to the kitchen (this was 30 minutes after our waitress told us our food was next up). Our waitress was MIA most of the night so I had to flag another waitress to tell her about the table move because the hostess had not. Another 5 minutes goes by and we get our "warm" dinners. Asked the maitre d for a steak knife...3 days later and I am still waiting. Throughout the night they kept saying "sorry the kitchen got slammed" however food was coming out very slow the 3 hours we were there and they kept seating tables like they could handle an unlimited number of guests. Finally, we asked the hostess to call us a cab as we were not guests of the Marriott....we waited 30 minutes until another cab actually dropped someone off and we grabbed it...not sure if she ever remembered to call one. Food, once we got it was decent but definitely not worth the wait or the drama.

Our reservation was 7:15pm. We were seated by 7:35pm and got a great table outside. Our server notified us the kitchen was very behind so we ordered drinks, apps, and entrees right away as recommended by our server. The drinks and apps came in a reasonable time. We noticed the table that arrived well after us eating their apps, then entrees. We were never offered bread that other tables received. When we questioned how much longer our entrees would be our server didn't remember what we ordered. By 9:30pm, two hours after being seated, still no entrees. We asked for our check and voiced our frustrations to our server. We paid the bill minus entrees. No manager stopped by our table to acknowledge our poor experience. We left without dinner.

This restaurant has such potential but it appears to be managed and operated like a start up diner. It would seem that the Marriot wants to run the place similar to any bad restaurant attached to a cheap hotel Air Conditioning was set to freezing cold and fan noise was very loud. Hostess could not find wine menus The two best desserts were out by the time we had dinner (which was pretty early at 7:00) My $45.00 steak was certainly not as good as any steak a 1/3rd of its cost at a chain restaurant Menu was very limited Wait Staff seemed overwhelemed

We went for our wedding anniversary and it was even better than we expected! We were seated as soon as we arrived, we enjoyed a seat right by the window with a view of the sunset while enjoying our complimentary bottle of champagne. Our server was very attentive to all our needs and was able to provide helpful suggestions when choosing our meals. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back!

Although the food was good the portions were pretty small and the price was pretty high. I suppose that is what is expected at a higher end resort restaurant. Our waiter was wonderful but a second hand dropped the ball on getting us our bread. The night was not very busy at all and we would have expected our bread much sooner. The bread again was small and not very good. The ribeye I ordered was one of the best I have had. I ordered a medium though and was definitely medium rare. We did appreciate on celebrating our anniversary that we had received free dessert. For the look and feel of a higher end restaurant we expected to hear more soothing romantic music but heard all the latest pop rock songs. Sorry if picky...just my thoughts.

Service and food were very good. Got seated right away, and service was very good, we didn't have to wait for our food and water glasses were kept full. Ordered a Rib Eye steak, which was prepared perfectly with wonderful flavor and and it was very juicy. Wife order Salmon and it too was prepared perfect. A bit disappointed with desert, the Creme Brule only came with strawberries and rhubarb, and the chocolate cake we ordered tasted ok, but looked kinda weird, as it had a thick ribbon of gelato and some kind of strawberry paste. All in all though, it was a very nice dining experience.

This place offers outstanding food choices. The servers went above and beyond to meet every need we had throughout the whole night as well as very personable. The chef does a great job with the entree's. Food was Delicious with a capital D. Your going to pay as it is pricey, but well worth every dollar. The views from the tables by the windows were breathtaking at night. Above exceptional and a must try.

The waitress visited our table maybe 3 times the whole meal. Got our orders wrong. It was our first time there and it was our anniversary. When we rsvp'd a time and table at Top of the Rock they asked if we would be dining there for any special occasion we said yes our anniversary and then they concluded to say we would get complimentary champagne. When we arrived at the restaurant there was no mention or question if there was a special occasion and throughout the entire meal to the end nothing was ever said or done. Definitely overrated.

What a gorgeous setting and wonderful view. I could imagine the architect seeing what he envisioned before it was built. What a perfect spot! It won't be the last time for us. We are already planning a brunch. We watched the sun set from our dining table while having a glass of wine and eating our appetizer. Our server, Laveda could not have given us better service. Just the right amount of time between courses. Had the answer to every question. Changed our tableware in-between courses. Perfect size napkins. Did not have to ask for extra napkins as we do at most restaurants. Presentation of our foods was over the top. Food tastes complimented each other. Good chef.

We recently went to Top Of The Rock for our 5th Anniversary. I asked for a table outside & mentioned it was an Anniversary dinner. When we arrived we were seated at the end table outside which had a free bottle of champaigne ready. The view, champagne, rosemary infused cocktail, meat & cheese appetizer were awwwsome! The food & the service were good. The ambiance was GREAT!! We found out they have a great HH... That's what I'll go for next time. LOVE the infused alcohol!

My husband and I were looking forward to dinner at this cool looking restaurant situated on top of a rock. The indoor architecture is beautiful and there is a pretty evening view of Tempe. Unfortunately, the service & food was sadly disappointing. We sat for over 30 minutes in the 'lounge' without being approached by the staff regarding drinks. We asked about going downstairs to the 'bar', but were then told that it had closed 4 years ago (even though the sign is still on the building). Once seated for dinner, the food served was embarrassing. The crab stuffed filet, came out in 2 pieces the size of diver scallops with a small smear of potato, and 3 baby carrots on the plate. We both left the restaurant hungry, even after a measly desert.

I have had this restaurant on my list of places to try for a very long time! It lived up to everything I expected however it was a little bright inside the restaurant. It could have been a little darker and been perfect. The food was incredible! My friend and I went for restaurant week and I ordered the T.O.R. House Salad, Brown Butter Seared Scottish Salmon, and the Ancho Chile Chocolate Ganache and honestly all three were spectacular! We also tried the Local Organic Kale Caesar since the entrees were delayed and both salads were incredible. I ordered my salmon medium rare and it was perfectly cooked and the chocolate ganache was to die for. I will for sure be back! Can't wait and thanks for using local food!

The food was so horrible, I'll never come back. I took my best friend for her birthday, and spent more than 200.00. and I would have been better off getting a pizza. My husband and I thought we were taking her someplace great, and we were there several years ago, it was great then. The food was cold, the filet was overcooked...the veggie was barely there. The only thing that was good was the salad. The bread was stale and the spread they served with it had no flavor.

I always have a good time here. Service is always outstanding. I used a promo code for free champagne for an anniversary. I wasn't sure when the waiters normally bring out the champagne. At one point, I thought they forgot and I had to ask for it, which ruined the surprise for my date. Aside from that, great experience as always.

My partner and I came here to celebrate his birthday. It was restaurant week and so we took advantage of it. We had an amazing three course meal. Each course was excellent. The outdoor seating was great because of the view. Jane was our waitress who topped off the experience by being very friendly and shared a little bit if history about the place (only because we asked). I would go back for a special occasion, but probably not out of the blue only because it was spendy. But for a special occasion, it was well worth it!

We went here for 1 of our last outings prior to having our 1st child, and were expecting a nice experience. The service was the slowest we've ever had. From the 1st- last course, we waited longer than was acceptable, as the server repeatedly returned to make excuses, interrupting conversation every time. Other tables came and went around us before we got to finish our main course. The worst part was that my salmon was raw! The server didn't offer to take my husband's plate to be kept warm while I waited. He had almost finished his meal before my plate returned. The replating was rushed, missing the original topping that was on the salmon. Serving a pregnant woman raw fish should have warranted at least a table visit, but no manager came.

Everyone raved how wonderful the food is. The portions were incredibly small. The salmon was quite fishy. The kale also tasted fishy and was bitter. The polenta was chewy. Although the view is spectacular I was not at all impressed with the food and had wished I had gone elsewhere. I probably would've spent the same and enjoyed my food a lot more.

I'm sure the food is good on most days. We attended a special 7 course from 7 chefs brunch. The food was terrible. This was not a course as indicated when I booked it was a tasting. Small portion for 2 to share. I should have asked about the menu. It was brains, tar tar, cheek and a few others that I did not enjoy. I tried each one but the flavors were not good. You need to make sure your guest understand what type of food you are serving when they book a reservation.

We made reservations here to celebrate my dad's 73rd birthday. The service was VERY good. We never felt smothered by service or like our server was nowhere to be found. I would highly recommend the AZ Mule as a pre-dinner drink. Very light and refreshing for an Arizona summer evening. Dinner was very good, everyone enjoyed the salad, entree, and dessert. My wife and I did the wine pairings, but were very underwhelmed. Not really worth the extra expense, I would have rather had a bottle of wine of my choosing. Overall, very nice evening spent with my parents that we will remember for a long time to come. SUGGESTION: Be aware of what time sunset is because it can be VERY bright and HOT with the sun beaming in the windows.
