"I ordered halibut, and the seasoning overwhelmed the fish and was quite salty. It was the kind of overseasoning you'd expect when the kitchen is trying to hide a poor cut of meat. However, the halibut itself was outstanding once you scraped off the seared seasoned crust. The bed of capers the halibut sat on had no flavor what so ever. I've never not been able to taste a caper. Our server was very nice and reccommended a very nice wine that we enjoyed. My husband enjoyed his meal, the seafood stew, the scallops were especially good. We will continue to use The Fish Market as a source for fresh fish at their counter."

"This was a fabulous restaurant... went here to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were a group of 7, and the restaurant was able to accomodate us perfectly and comfortably. I'd like to mention our waiter, Vino, who was EXCEPTIONAL. His menu suggestions were outstanding. His service was impeccable... not to mention that he had a wonderful sense of humor. A restaurant can have good quality food, but if the service isn't up to par... I won't visit again. At Top of the Market, I'll be coming back for both the food and the service. Thank you for making my mom's birthday outstanding and memorable."

"The view of the lagoon puts one in a nice frame of mind for food. A palm tree and beach would have been great, but this is San Mateo, not Hawaii."

"The service was slow, the dishes were so-so, not tasty, etc. The apple/blueberry dish for dessert was also a disappointment. It came with a scoop of vanila ice cream that was half the size of a ping pong ball. I can't even begin to think what they were thinking about that. If the question is would I come back, the answer is NO!"

"I really enjoyed the food and quiet during my first time at this restaurant. The service was great, we had the mussels as an appetizer which was wonderful and my Pacific Fin Tuna Nicoise salad was delicious with the tuna cooked just right and a nice portion. It reminds me of Scott's Seafood restaurant, but more intimate and relaxed. I will definitely return."
