Top of the MarketAlways consistentI have never been to Top of the Market for brunch and I don't know what took me so long to go. the food was amazing, (as always) the service was impeccable (as always) and we had a great time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day dining at it's bestfirst i must say that my parents do not dine out and do not like paying a lot for food (even if they are not paying the bill). My mom wanted to go somewhere with a water view but by the time she told me most places were booked. I got us a table at Top of The Market but when I told her the prices she was a bit hesitant but agreed. We were seated on time and were given a window seat as requested. First I will tell you that Stephanie was a delightful waitress and totally enhanced our experience. The food was perfect and my dad who is a bit picky even found something he really liked. We were not only celebrating mothers Day but my parents 56th anniversary, my birthday and my new job. My mom liked it so much she wants to go back. Best moms day5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTop of The Market, RomanticTop of the Market is great for a romantic sunset dinner with someone special. The seafood selections are amazing. The wine list pairs the perfect wine with your entree.
The service staff were excellent. Just the right amount of attention.
The view is one of the best bay views in San Diego. Highly recommended5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food as usualMy husband & I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary there. The food was excellent as usual . Both dishes we selected were tasty & plentiful. We had enough to bring home to enjoy for another dinner. The service was slower than usual as it was very busy. Our waiter was friendly. I believe his name was Gerhig. He did slip up when he failed to bring the dessert tray to us. We probably would have ordered something. He also did not recognize the special occasion for us. Other restaurants do this & it is a wonderful added touch.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice restaurant.Good food and terrific service. Excellent bar and wine list. Great view of bay in San Diego.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant dinner by the San Diego bayTop of the Market is a restaurant on top of the Fish Market restaurant. It sits out on the point and we got a great table on their enclosed patio area so we could watch the sunset while we dined. The waitress was friendly and very helpful in recommending a wine that met our description. Overall, a very good experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AM4th Visit, Looking Foward to 5thOur server was superb as was the food, wine, and view. Well for the price for a memorable evening.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AM5 StarsGreat staff and great food. We come from southern Utah once a year and always make a trip to The Top of The market.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLarge Group at Top of the MarketGreat location and views !
A little tough squeezing in a table of nine, but the food and service were very good and we really enjoyed our meal.
The wine list was exceptional and the big seafood appetizer was amazing. But be sure to ask for some garlic butter and extra sauce for all the shellfish. I would go back for a more intimate dinner outside with my wife.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date spotGorgeous restaurant. Inside is very old school steakhouse looking with white tablecloths, candles, and no frills. We sat on the glassed-in porch overlooking the water which was STUNNING. The food was pricey but very good. My date and I shared the tuna tartare which was fantastic and very refreshing. I got the scallops which were delicious and cooked perfectly, served over orzo with edamame. My date got the swordfish, which the waiter highly recommended as it was fresh and caught locally by the restaurant's own chartered boat. Unfortunately the swordfish was a bit overcooked, but still flavorful. For dessert, we shared the s'more cake. I've never had anything like it and it was heavenly. Very rich but very tasty. Highly recommended!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a regular patron andI am a regular patron and I never ceased to enjoy coming at the Top of the Market. I love the fresh seafood and the ambience - the serene and calming view of the bay. The customer service is always excellent. If you're in just for a light salad or a heavy seafood meal, like my favorite cioppino, this restaurant has it all. I would go here for lunch in a single thought or have a romantic dinner with someone in the evening. The price is just right for the type of food they serve and the services they provide. This place is definitely good for special occasions or a place to reminisce with a good friend. The noise level is normal on the inside but gets better when you're in the patio. Great restaurant as always.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA special place for excellentA special place for excellent food and a wonderful view and ambience.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTimTop of the Market has always been one of our go-to restaurants for a great meal or special occasions. We celebrated our anniversary there and it almost couldn't have been better. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food is always fresh and fabulous. The view is incredible. You are paying more, but whereas some places charge more for the location and serve mediocre food, Top of the Market always serves top-notch food. It will continue to be one of our favorite restaurants in SD.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy HusbandMy wife and I had a fantastic time. Made the reservation via open table, requested a table at the window overlooking the bay for date night and got it. Awesome! Service, food and drinks were excellent. Portions were large so we skipped dessert. The flow of service was really pleasant and we felt like we weren't rushed and had ample time to talk and reconnect. All in all it was a very romantic evening.
Be careful the wood floor is very slippery and a few women almost slipped and fell.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI continue to be impressedI continue to be impressed by the quality of food prepared by their chefs. The service was outstanding. Our server was personable, professional, and ensured our glasses were never empty. The nighttime view on the deck was quiet, romantic, and cozy. I would highly recommend Top of the Market to anyone who is looking for a special ambience coupled with fresh and high quality seafood.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile on a short vacationWhile on a short vacation in San Diego, I took the opportunity to dine again at the Top of the Market restaurant. Previous experiences were always outstanding. This one was no exception. Great food, excellent service, and a superb view. I will look forward to another fine dining experience when I visit San Diego again in the future.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was extremely busy on theIt was extremely busy on the day we were there. No parking was available, even valet parking was full. We were late for our reservation because of this but we were still treated very well by all the staff. It was 3:00 PM and we had a small room all to ourselves with panoramic views of the bay. This is one of our favorite places and we love the food.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAdd to my favorite listFantastic!!!
Everyone nailed it!
Celebrate our anniversary with our children and their husbands, request a special table which we received. The wine, starters, main course was very good.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal although I wasGreat meal although I was not fond of the swordfish tacos as the fish was a bit dry. great ambiance with view of San Diego Harbor. Great service. Definately go there again when in San Diego4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous view of San DiegoMarvelous view of San Diego harbor, if you request a table with a view. Outside is quieter than inside, and also more romantic, so keep that in mind. We enjoyed a wonderful, wonderful meal with great service and terrific food.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dinner...great menuExcellent dinner...great menu choices and once we finally got a waiter assigned to our table, everything ran smoothly! Definately will return next time in San Diego. On a busy Saturday night reservation was ready for us...walk ups had a 45 min wait.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe reserved a table on theWe reserved a table on the outside enclosed deck when we had out of town guests visit San Diego last week. Not only was the food top notch, but the wine list, service and the view were superb. An extra added bonus was watching the carrier motor past the windows from our view of the San Diego Bay. I know that wasn't something you could order off the menu, but it sure added to the overall experience.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA Bit PriceyThis seemed overpriced for what we got for lunch...both the food and the wine seemed a bit skimpy! I guess this is because it is located in a "tourist" area, but $16 for 3 shrimp on a small 'Shrimp Cobb Salad', and $10 for a (smallish) glass of wine seemed like a bit much for lunch...(plus, my friend's real, but small, 'Crab Louie Salad' was $19) However, the salads were very tasty, and they did bring my friend a delicious free dessert to celebrate her birthday!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSpent my daughter's 24 thSpent my daughter's 24 th birthday here. Delicious food, beautiful view and they went out of their way to make our lunch special with a beautiful dessert with no singing. It was a great choice.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMplace to be happyFor sheer pleasure this is the place to be in downtown San Diego. Next to the battleship Midway and a giant sculpture of a sailor kissing a nurse AND a set of metal sculptured GIs honoring Bob Hope complete with excerpts of his radio broadcasts during WWII AND the harbor at sunset, the Fish Market is a great choice for any party or simply as a date nite out. I dined alone for the Fishermans stew. I started with a Tuna tartar but before putting that away the chef sent out a tasting of a spicy coconut and crab soup which was almost exactly what the chef at the dining room at the Biltmore Estate served me several weeks ago. Do these chefs talk to each other or what? All was good & waitress excellent.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLinguine with squid ink, scallopsLinguine with squid ink, scallops and prawns was absolutely wonderful! The scallops were cooked perfectly and the linguine was intensely flavorful! Our waitress was attentive, but not intrusive, efficient and prompt, great service! My friend did not like her entree salad, however. The dressing was too vinegary and the cheesecake not sweet enough.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant!!!Beautiful venue on Coronado Bay. We sat outside to enjoy the view. The service was perfect. We all received our appetizers at the same time, same for the main course. We all had different kinds of fish, and each was outstanding, including the sides. Everything is cooked to order, so food allergies were all accommodated. Will definitely come back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA San Diego classicGreat ambience, beautiful view, prompt service, and of course, the food, which was delicious, all make Top of the Market well worth it! Recommend valet parking.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe waterfront view is outstanding,The waterfront view is outstanding, as was ALL of the food. Our waitress was excellent3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lobster was wonderfulThe Lobster was wonderful as was the fresh swordfish (some of the best I have tasted) Many tempting desserts, we had the chocolate hazelnut tort which was delicious!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous. Sit outside on theFabulous. Sit outside on the glass porch. Expensive, but a real treat!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service, and bay viewsWonderful menu, all items fresh and delicious. Terrific service. Unbeatable view of gorgeous San Diego Bay, Coronado Island, USS Midway Naval musum, sailboats, military craft, and commercial ships ply the waters immediately below this "must do" restaurant.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is incredible andThe food is incredible and the seafood is some of the best I've had. I thought it would be a tourist trap with medicore food that was way over priced, but I was pleasantly surpised to be wrong. The happy hour deals are incredible, if you don't mind sitting at the bar. If you strike up conversations with the cooks, you might get some special tastes. The griled swordfish entree is incredible.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing SettingThe views are better in the daytime but anytime would be great to experience this place. Set on the waterfront, you enjoy a very serene atmosphere while being served by top-notch staff.5/13/2012 12:00:00 AMThe view was fantastic. OneThe view was fantastic. One of hte best in all of San Diego (We live here so we've seen a lot of views.) I loved the specialty I ordered: the Grand Banks Sea Scallops served on a bed beluga lentils, spinach and bites of slab bacon. In fact the next time we go there, I plan to not even open the menu anf just order the same thing! OPen Table made setting a reservation very easy.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
