My wife and I recently dined at Top Notch and were impressed. I had the flat iron steak and she had the chicken pot pie. Both were excellent and the portions were more than ample. In addition we shared the apple cobbler for dessert and it probably was the best we ever had. Top Notch was friendly and informal but with great service. What's not to like?

Food was above average, although the server was very good and provided some recommendations. We had the brisket, although the meat was tough and pull apart like you were expect. My wife had the chicken potpie, which was much better!! The desserts that we tried were also above average!

This little gem in downtown Medford serves great comfort food, salads, gourmet thin crust pizzas, lunch, and Sunday brunch. Menu changes seasonally. Excellent salads (okay as an appetizer but not quite large enough for an entrée) and specials. Small kitchen so food comes out a bit slowly, but worth the wait.

We went here because it was close and on open table. Great selection on the menu,. We had the coca cola meat loaf , cheesesteak spring rolls and roasted chicken. Truly surprised at the great taste, qty of food and moderate pricing. We brought our own wine but they had some local bottles if desired. Was also impressed with their electronic use of iPad waitress tool with a product called Touch Bistro which gave us the impression that the restaurant was forward thinking and ready for the real world. We will make this place a habit. Enjoy!

PRO: They were having a special "From Farm to Fork" event when we made the reservation but the fixed price 4 course meal had plenty of options & meals we selected were very good (especially liked Jersey Corn creme brulee dessert). Main course of flat iron steak with brown mushroom sauce and raosted half chicken were tasty; came with the most delicious "smashed' potatoes I've ever had. The service was excellent, from a smiling and pleasant server. CON: The decor is sparse/non-existent and in a small space with so many hard surfaces (brick walls, hard floors, no cloth on tables) it could easily get very noisy in there. On a Tuesday night in the summer with few other diners so it wasn't a problem but I would hesitate to go on a busy night.

The service was great. The waitress was nice and answered the few questions we had about certain meals. I loved the rosemary potato cake. However, the frittata was so-so because it wasn't formed like a typical frittata. I would have preferred the vegetables and cheese inside the egg not placed on top. My friends raved about the banana pancakes and the creme brulee french toast (which was large enough to satisfy several people). We looked over their lunch/dinner menu, and we plan on going back there as many of those meals sound very interesting to try.

Our first outing to Top Notch in Medford was very pleasant. Its not a fancy place but our meals were delicious, and the server was very friendly. The bread and oil was fresh, and different than just a basket of rolls. My date gad the scallops and enjoyed them. My salmon casino was really good. We did not order salads or dessert, as the meal was plenty (i had assistance in finishing) but my date was content but not overly stuffed. Would definitely go back.

Our recent dinner at Top Notch was a great experience. The service was excellent and the food was great. We had two of the daily specials as well as one of the regular menu items and all of them were tasty. We would order them again, they were that good. The desserts were homemade and delicious. I would recommend Top Nothch, more importantly we plan on returning in the near future.

This was our third time dining here since it opened. Food is certainly very good but the service was a bit sluggish with one waiter handling every table and for the second time in three visits there was some sort of glitch with their computer system. This time they couldn't process credit cards. I had to let them write the number down for processing at a later date which, quite frankly, left me feeling a bit uncomfortable.

This spot in Medford has had many different restaurants. Most did not last long. I am afraid this one may be headed that way, also. We had dinner there on a Sunday evening. Only one other couple was there. For a restaurant with little atmosphere, no table cloths, etc. the items are fairly pricey. Dinner for 2 with 2 entrees, 1 soup,1 appetizer, 1 dessert & 2 coffees was $100. I ordered the special, pan fried crab cakes ($26).These were quite flavorless, not a lot of filling, but really no flavor. My husband had scallops with risotto, there were 4 medium scallops and not much risotto ($26). Since we brought our own wine, $100 is sort of pricey for dinner for 2.We may give it another chance perhaps at lunch. But we were not really impressed.

My only complaint with Top Notch was tht it ruined my taste for any other restaurant. The cheese steak spring rolls were excellent and the flat iron steak, mushroom demiglace, smashed potatoes and asparagus all had flavors that complimented each other - better than any combination on one plate than I have had anywhere else. The bananas foster creme brule was creative and tasty. Service was friendly and knew the menu well. The room was a little noisy and chilly, but the over all experience was wonderful. We'll be going back soon so I can try the Coca Cola meatloaf.

I would like to see this little place succeed since Main Street needs more life. There were 3 in my party. My couscous was very good and I enjoyed it. The meatloaf received an okay review and the pizza was very good as well. Service was great and friendly. Decor is mixed and needs more cohesion.

We had a gift certificate for dinner that we had won. First we had a cocktail and app. at a local bar across the street! Then went over to Top Notch on a Saturday evening, . Soups where great! My husband had the scallops that where tender and sweet, and I had the CocaCola Meatloaf and that was ok! I would have prefered dimmers on the lights, which I thought where to bright. Other than that we enjoyed a nice stroll on Main St. afterewards!

We go here often for lunch or dinner and we have always reviewed it the same "excellent. They now have wine you can buy either 1/2 bottle or bottle or you can BYOB. Reservations are a must for dinner. Ask for window table if you have 5 or more. We did request but think we were too late to actually get it behind someone else who probably reserved it before us. Cute cute place to eat. Owner/Chef is just excellent personality that no request won't be thought about I'm sure.

The first time I tried Top Notch was restaurant week, unfortunately my party of 6, waited an hour to be seated with reservations, so we decided to go to Braddock Travern. Gave it another try with my husband and friends, We were seated promptly. No bread or salad comes with your meal. appt. were $10 spring rolls philly cheese steak and special spring rolls they were the highlight of the meal. I had the salmon risotto dish $21. it was bland and tasteless had to add salt . Flat iron steak $21 was just ok way too much gravy. our guest had pork chops $24, and sea scallops $26. they liked their meals. Dessert was awful I had the Blondie it was so stale I had to use a knife. 9pm came the chef came out of the kitchen, it was time to leave.

To keep this short the food is always pretty good. I enjoy the unique menu selections and after many visits I have always been happy with the quality of the food. The service and management are weak. The servers are kind but inexperienced and owner has a lack of a connection with the customer. I am a regular customer who will not be returning. I tried to write about my bad experience but there isn't enough space. My last visit left us very angry - not a feeling I want to have when going out to eat.

1st time for dinner here after an outstanding brunch. Seated quickly. Specials were recited right away. This is a byo so we were immediately brought all the accoutrements for our drinks. We were not rushed to order, so we leisurely ordered appetizers while we perused the menu. Stuffed long hots were excellent, prosciutto wrapped shrimp were flavorful and juicy. Shipping sauce was divine. The entrees we ordered were all cooked and seasoned perfectly. The crab cakes special was delicious. The salmon amazing! Scallops cooked perfectly. All of the risotto was also well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My guests and I raved while we ate at how delicious the food was. No desserts this time but they sure looked great!!
