A word from Tony's Oyster Bar and Restaurant
Tony's first opened in 1995 as Tony's Bourbon Street Oyster Bar with a distinctly Cajun/Creole flair. Named after the handicapped son of one of the original owners Tony's soon became known for fine cuisine and its live entertainment on weekends. Having won numerous awards from local magazines for
its outstanding cuisine and entertainment, Tony's has been a fixture within southern Wake County for over 15 years.
Tony's Oyster Bar & Restaurant serves the best in fresh seafood, steaks and Italian dishes in a casual relaxing atmosphere. We also have a full service steamed bar featuring fresh oysters, shrimp, crab legs and more.
As one of the few "dinner only – made from scratch" restaurants in the area, we invite you to enjoy our fine food and beverages and hope you will make Tony's Oyster Bar & Restaurant one of your favorites!

We were very pleased with the
service, the staff was very cordial and efficient. Food was very good and we did not have a long wait for our group of ten. We had made reservations and we were seated as soon as we arrived."

Not the best experience. Made a
5:45 reservation, restaurant was nearly empty, yet our table for 6 wasn't ready. Apps were good, first round of drinks took a while. Our server was knowledgable and polite but didn't check back with us until we were nearly done with our entrees. The fish entrees were dry and poorly seasoned. Oysters and crab legs were tasty and done well. We were all underwhelmed by Tony's. We will go to 42nd Street in Raleigh next time."

Overall, it wasn't bad. The
service was just horrible. Long time to get drinks, even longer to get appetizers, much longer to just get food. At one point, one of the meals still wasn't out and the rest of us had just about finished eating. The manager did comp that meal - I will give credit for that. But, this was a graduation dinner and mother's day. We went early (it was not busy at all - 1/3 full at the time) and yet, the service was brutally slow. I have read complaints of this in the past, but thought it would have been rectified by now - guess not."

Warm welcome, attentive service,
and hot food. The oysters were delicious, piping hot, and juicy. Excellent pinot noir at a very reasonable price."
Dined on 4/8/2014
Food (steak and lobster mac) was
good and price-appropriate. Server was very professional. Manager stopped by numerous times which was nice. All in all a good dinner."
Dined on 3/29/2014
Wonderful fried oysters! Not to be
missed. Everything else (shrimp, tiny bay scallops, veggie sides, lobster) only acceptable--not memorable. Excellent server-- added a free dessert with candle for my birthday."
Dined on 10/22/2012
This was our first time at Tony's.
We had a great time here . The food was excellent as well as our waitress Jackie..She really made our dining experience enjoyable! We will definitely come back!!"
Dined on 10/12/2012
The food was really good. The
service was so-so. Seemed a little unorganized and slow. A great place if you're planning to stay awhile to eat or watch a game -- not so good if you're trying to get in and out in an hour. Save room for the homemade desserts!"
Dined on 10/7/2012
We came for dinner at 8:00 and it
was not noisy or crowded, but we stayed for the live band that started around 10:30 and it was loud, crowded, and lively for the live music. But that was what we expected and hoped for, so it was a great experience."
Dined on 10/6/2012
Great birthday dinner at the
oyster bar at Tony's! The oysters were delicious and the fried shrimp were perfect!! The clam chowder was a little thick for some. Would definitely come again."
Dined on 10/2/2012
Very good food here, much better
than expected, will return"
Dined on 9/15/2012
Loud (but it is a bar, after all).
Most folks ate at the bar; we were the only "table" used for dinner on a Sunday evening. Waitress was pleasant and efficient. No prior notice, but as we started to order steamed oysters, she informed us that they don't serve steamed shell fish to the tables, only at the bar. It was 20 feet away and we were the only folks not at the bar!! Are you kidding me? They can't carry it across the room?! Bizarre. Food was ok; nothing special. If you live really close, this may be a "neighborhood bar" you'd frequent, but it's not worth a drive when better seafood and more extensive menus are available at many places around the Triangle."
Dined on 9/9/2012
We had a great time...food service
seating and price perfect."
Dined on 9/8/2012
The service was excellent but the
food was terrible!"
Dined on 8/31/2012
The clam chowder is amazing. The
oysters were fresh and delicious. I got the Admirals platter and, while it was good, they only gave you 2 scallops and a fillet the size of a postage stamp. Would have given 5 stars if they didn't cheap out on the portions."
Dined on 8/22/2012
Overall was a very good
experience. Raw bar might be the best around, will go back. Great specials, drinks were very reasonably priced, and the service was good."
Dined on 8/19/2012
Terrible terrible experience! I
would absolutely never recommend this place to anyone and would not eat there even if my meal was free. Tried it out since I got a living social deal for the place and when I got there the menu that I could choose from was terrible. Nothing at all like their actual menu. Not sure if this was a living social issue or the restaurant's. Either way I felt they should have shown the menu online before I purchased the deal because I absolutely would not have bought it. On top of that our waitress was the worst possible server I've ever had! She acted like she did not want us to be in the restaurant at all, she had an attitude the entire time, she never came to check on us and rushed us through the dinner."
Dined on 8/17/2012
This place had awesome food and a
great feel. Our friends hit a home run suggesting Tony's."
Dined on 8/5/2012
Popular place with a large
selection of seafood nicely presented."
Dined on 8/4/2012
A touch on the pricey side for the
amount of food. I do realize that it is an oyster bar, though. The service at the oyster bar was outstanding, and our group had a lot of fun."
Dined on 8/2/2012
OK atmosphere. Bar cannot
accommodate 'frozen drinks'. Really only beers & spirits. Way too much salt in food. Very basic dishes (nothing really stands out / differentiated from any other place). Service was poor - parts of orders were forgotten & when reminded waitress, she acted as if we were bothering her. Location is poor - hidden corner of a slowing 'dying' shopping center (lots of vacant retail spaces)."
Dined on 7/28/2012
A party-atmosphere restaurant, not
a place for a quiet romantic dinner. The service and staff were very nice and cooperative. I used a Living Social voucher and enjoyed the food. I would not want to pay menu prices for this food, since it is pricy."
Dined on 7/22/2012
You can always count on a good
meal and service at Tony's."
Dined on 7/18/2012
Pretty good restaurant. Food was
fine but service was excellent!"
Dined on 7/11/2012
Worst Oysters Rockefeller I've had
(covered with Brocolli) and the best Jambalaya I've had - service was OK."
Dined on 7/6/2012
Tony's is certainly a hidden gem!
Their $5 app specials will get you in the door but their warm and friendly service and fantastic seafood will make you stay. Be sure to try the Raspberry Martini."
Dined on 7/6/2012
Breanna was an excellent server,
and did a wonderful job. We used a living social coupon, though, and were limited to very few menu items, most of which were fried. Our meals were just average, but we look forward to eating there again when we can choose from the regular menu."
Dined on 7/5/2012
Most of the issues dealt with the
staff. The poor guy who was our server must have been new. He was very confused with the menu and had no clue what we were ordering. The food was good and the oysters were awesome. Again the server was very confused when it came to the bill. I was over charged by $20 and had to ask him to fix it. It took us almost 2 hours from time seated to the time we left. The food was slightly overpriced. I might return if I am with a group who was interested in going."
Dined on 7/2/2012
Manager on duty was terrible. He
was our server for the evening, and took our order by saying "What did you want?", and was irritated that we asked for a list of beers. The server we spoke to afterwards gave us comment cards to fill out because she clearly did not enjoy him either. I will not go back, or recommend the restaurant because of this. There are too many other great restaurants in Raleigh!"
Dined on 7/2/2012
Food, absolutely delicious.
Service, awesome. We are so pleased with everything with this restaurant."
Dined on 7/1/2012
This was unfortunately the single
worst restaurant experience we've EVER had. They were so disorganized that the staff forgot to wait on us for the first 20 minutes after we were seated, and afterwards other random waitstaff would come to the table and ask if we had been helped yet. Very very strange! It took another 20 minutes to get our drinks from the bar, and then the food took about an hour to arive...we were there for nearly 3 hours for a casual Sunday night dinner! The waitress totally forgot one of our drinks, and then laughed when we reminded her about it. The food really wasn't very good either. We'll never go back."
Dined on 7/1/2012
We had dinner at Tony's on
Saturday night. We were in a group of six. We were promptly led to our table. The waiter was friendly and capable. We received our food in a timely manner and all of it was delicious. We had 3 separate checks at our table. Each one was correct. We would go there again."
Dined on 6/30/2012
Despite using open table, we still
had to wait over an hour for our table. Our waitress didn't bring us menus, but asked what we wanted to order..... generally poor service, very loud, and expensive for what you get."
Dined on 6/28/2012
Good restaurant though in a
declining shopping center."
Dined on 6/26/2012
Food was HORRIBLE and definitely
not worth the price. Don't waste your time or money."
Dined on 6/25/2012
Food was good, but over priced.
Service was horrible, beyond horrible, dinner took us over two from when sat down to when we finally left."
Dined on 6/23/2012
Things have changed. Walked in and
waited for a hostess to acknowledge us. At the oyster bar we waited again for someone to acknowledge us for a drink. We were given cold and hard hushpuppies. We noticed they were pre-making raw oyster platters and many other dishes. While having our oysters shucked, by who appeared to be a manager, we asked what was going on and were told that the restaurant has new owners. We told him about the terrible hushpuppies and how Tony's was known for great hushpuppies. He didn't apologize or replace them, he just shrugged it off. To summarize the changes: mediocre food, understaffed and poorly trained employees, premade dishes(like fastfood) and apathetic management. They risk alienating their loyal customers."
Dined on 6/18/2012
We have been to Tony's many times
and will continue."
Dined on 6/17/2012
The food was outstanding as well
as the service. I will definitely be dining there again soon!!!"
Dined on 6/15/2012
We had high hopes for Tony's but
alas the food just didn't measure up and the prices while not exhorbitant were also not moderate. The food was mediocre to blah. The only discernalbe flavor in my pasta dish, which included shrimp and scallops, was garlic. The seafood was totally flavorless. The breading on my husband's fried seafood platter was extremely salty. On a positive note, the service was very good, although they left our appetizer dishes on the table long after we had finished with them. There are so many options in the Triangle that this is not a place that I will recommend or return to for dinner."
