Diner Reviews
  • "Quick to be seated and the place looked very nice. The family style ceasers salad was small and not very good, large uneddible piece of lettuce in mine. Spaghetti was really poor, almost no sauce, all noodles and a couple meatballs. I make better at home! Calamari was large portion and tasted very good. Ravioli was not very good, all cheese no taste in sauce . I am saddened that the food was not good overall, had hoped the close location would make us be repeat customers. Will have to go downtown or to the west side for Carmine's ."

  • "Generous portions of well-prepared italian staples. Very noisy (on a Sunday eve). A quieter area (not advertised) available in an adjacent location by prior reservation."

  • "We were a group of six and had a great time. Food was very good and the family-style was lots of fun. The only negative was that we felt rushed. We were going to order appetizers first and wait for the main meal; however, our waiter told us to order everything at the same time so the kitchen could time everything just right. Unfortunately, we were not done with the appy's and dinner came to the table. Hate when that happens. Otherwise it was a good time."

  • "Tony's popped up in my head as I was thinking of places to take a coworker in the city for the very first time. The atmosphere was perfect, our server was experienced and so nice. Bruce, the manager, could not have been friendlier. It reminded me how easily I take this city for granted and the true gems that exist right in front of me. Food was great! Dessert was amazing."

  • "I've been to the restaurant in midtown, but the upper east side location is to be the better one. Great home like feel with the decor despite the noise level. The Customer service was great and the bathroom decadent. There Wasn't a thing we ordered that we did not like. The fried zucchini is always great, the penne aka vodka delish, the chicken parm amazing, the chicken and eggplant dish was also surprisingly good. The wine and sangria decent. Overall, it was a good experience with the family. The servers were very friendly with the kids which I always Appreciate."

  • "When this place is not overwhelmed it can be a great experience for a family gathering. The food, especially some specialties like lobster ravioli and veal saltimobocca, are outstanding. We had a friendly young lady who did a great job. Let us enjoy our dinner, order as we choose and gave us whatever time we needed so we didn't feel rushed. I have been here many times and continue to return because this place works and you come away satisfied you had an enjoyable dining experience."

  • "Four of us (two couples) "meet halfway" geographically to dine at Tony's UES. We enjoy the food, find the prices very fair and have done this at least four times. Our only problem is the noise level. Our last visit was a weeknight (Tuesday), and, with few exceptions, the sound in the main room downstairs forced us to raise our voices -- or even shout a bit -- for the two hours we were there. We understand that young people like the noise, but we are no longer young and it is a disappointing element here. We're not quite ready to make an "early bird" reservation to avoid others in the place, so we have some difficult decisions to make for the future."

  • "Tony's DiNapoli never disappoints! Delicious food, great service, and festive ambiance for large groups. It's one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city!"

  • "waited 1 hour between appetizers and main course, all dishes were in the $ 17.00-18.00 range except for the specials @ $ 32.00 a bit of a shock"

  • "Our experience with Tony's DiNapoli, both on 3rd Avenue and in Times Square, has been consistently superior - the Times Square location has been a family favorite for years. We recently found the 3rd Avenue/Upper East location and have never been disappointed. We had our favorite salad and the baked ziti napolitano - both a perfect ten. Some many Italian restaurants do not know how to make baked ziti - they should come to Tony's for a lesson. Of course, one of the reasons we go there is for the bread. Crispy, crunchy crust and a soft fresh center...I am sure it is what they serve in Heaven!!! Our waiter, Joseph, explained the specials clearly, answered several questions accurately, and was a quiet professional throughtout our dinner."

  • "We found this place because it was close to our hotel. We loved it. Loved Mario. Loved, loved the calamari. The chicken Marsala was great. Oh, and the mouse cake was incredible. In fact, we were tempted to go back the second night here. Just great."

  • "This place is perfect for the family. You feel like you are on the set of Goodfellas or any Scorsese movie and the food is incredible. Family style and the prices are right! If you live in NYC (but are from out of town!) when family comes to visit take them to a place that is super authentic and is real experience for folks not from NYC!"

  • "Food was subpar -- veal piccata was overcooked and tasted like leather. Service was extremely rushed -- they were intent on getting us out as quickly as possible. Disappointing."

  • "The service was simply perfect! Even the manager came to confirm our satisfaction. The food was tasty, perfect temperature and at the right time! We had a lot of fun over there, will come back and will recommend!"

  • "I have never been to the UES restaurant but I love the one in the theater district. I wasn't sure if the food was going to be as good. The food was just as good and the area is less busy. I was able to enjoy my delicious food and not feel hurried. I will be returning."

  • "I took my team here for a holiday meal. The service was very good, the food selection was broad enough to accommodate everyone and we enjoyed a great time. We were not rushed and it was quiet enough to have conversation. I would return again."

  • "A get together with out of town relatives, who loved Tony's and said they will be happy to return next time they are in town. Great food, huge portions, helpful wait staff. A little too noisy but not enough to spoil the fun."

  • "We have been coming to Tony's for years. We were big fans when they were on 83rd and 2nd. We still love the food but the service is "eh" (we order take out more than dining in these days) This go around we weren't even asked what we'd like to drink. Not the biggest of issues but that's usually the first thing asked after being greeted. We enjoyed our penne ala vodka, the chicken parm is always perfect and we love the caesar salad. The chicken piccata, chicken marsala, baked ziti bolognese and the baked clams are always delicious too."

  • "Tony's staff was so accommodating! Our flight was delayed on a weekend trip to NYC to visit our daughter. We had an earlier reservation but I called TWICE to see if we could bump it to a later time due to the delay. It was Valentine's Day so I was so surprised when they responded that it would not be a problem. When we finally arrived, our table was ready for us, flowers for the ladies and absolutely delicious food! After a frazzled day of winter airline travel, our Valentine's Evening Dinner at Tony's was so wonderful. We had a beautifully relaxing evening catching up with our daughter, eating incredible Italian food and enjoying the very happy surroundings of Tony's. Thank you!"

  • "This was my 2nd time and first time bringing my significant other to dine! As always the waiters were attentive and awesome! After a minor situation (thank you so much to everyone that calmed me down) the staff helped me and my boyfriend really enjoy the rest of the evening! they even discounted a major portion of my our meal after the situation. I can genuinely say that had this been another place, I am sure we would not have gotten the care and concern we received. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect! I can say that we will be returning again. Thank you to Tony S. for being so attentive to our needs! Looking forward to dining again!"
