Diner Reviews
  • "A friend from Long Island recommended Tony's. It was worth going to Times Square square for-It was the best meal I have had in a long time. Out server, Linda was very helpful since there were only 3 of us (and 1 was only 12) and it is a family style , large serving type of place. Calamari was fabulous - tender with fresh marinara. Oh my, the homemade fettuccine was unbelievable and the eggplant and chicken was melt in your mouth good, without being heavy. We were in heaven. I spilled my mixed drink and before I could clean it up, another showed up. Really perfect dining experience. They have a smaller portion menu after 9 pm which was nice. We will come back every time and will recommend to everyone we know. Thank you Tony's and Linda!"

  • "Tony's di Napoli was perfect for our party of four. We ordered one salad, one pasta, one veal dish, and one dessert. The salad of tomato and fresh mozzarella was delicious. The pasta of rigatoni with eggplant and mozzarella was extremely tasty, with a terrific tomato sauce. The veal marsala had a delicious sauce and fabulous, plentiful mushrooms. The dessert of tiramisu was yummy and just right to split four ways. We were pleasantly full, but not overstuffed. The wait staff was very friendly. The only complaint was that it was quite noisy, even though we were seated in the supposedly quieter area downstairs. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal."

  • "This was our 3rd time eating at Tony DiNapoli's and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and 2 entrees plus a salad easily fed 4 people. The sangria was great too."

  • "Great place to enjoy lunch or dinner before or after theatre. I was going to see" Beautiful"(one of the best play we've seen this year) with my two daughters, we ordered the family platter Shrimp Scampy with lenguini and a bountiful house salad, came with a basket of delicious Italian bread. It was more than enough for the 3 of us. The food was simply delicious, tender jumbo shrimps the pasta cooked just right. We enjoyed the salad immensely, fresh, crispy, delicious house dressing. Enjoyed 3 dessert, Italian cheese cake, Tony's classic Sundae, Tony's brownie Sundae. Fast friendly service. We didn't have drinks or coffee the check came out to $83.00. The theatre across the street and parking next door. Can't ask for more."

  • "The only complaint that my date had was that the linguini alfredo was"salty". I did not try it, so I do not have an opinion. My date also saiid that the crust on the bread was a bit hard, so she scooped out the dough."

  • "We went there with a group of 8 people, before a matinee last weekend. The food is served family-style and each dish easily serves 3 people. The menu had a lot of variety and everything was delicious. The service was great and our waitress was outstanding. We picked the place due to its location (we were splitting up and going to different matinees), but were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the food. We will definitely go back."

  • "Overall the food was good and we had a great waiter but the beginning was a little frustrating. We had reservations at 6 pm and weren't seated until 6:35. I don't know what the problem was the place was very busy but that it a long time to wait with reservations. Very crowded in waiting room. Front of the house looked confused. However once we were seated the evening improved."

  • "This is the second time I have eaten in the restaurant. It was a Friday night and quite busy. The food this time was not as good as last year. However, the customer service was the best and made the visit enjoyable and because of their attention to detail will return again in the future."

  • "My husband and I went to Tony's before seeing Wicked. We had a reservation and when we got there they sat us right away. The waitress was very personable and helpful. The food was exceptionable. There was so much my husband and I couldn't finish it. This place would be wonderful for four or more since you share a dish. I would definitely recommend Tony's! Location is right in the middle of Times Square but when you walk into the restaurant you forget that. We were also in and out in plenty of time to walk to the show. I will definitely return."

  • "I had been ordering out from these guys for years (great shrimp fra diavolo and great sauteed spinach and garlic), but had never been there until Thursday night. Great family style Italian dining. Staff was great. The place is really energetic. And the food was really good and a lot of it. Better than Carmine's (which we also like). Definitely going back; we had an awesome time. And the prices were very reasonable."

  • "The food is large portions - servers 2-3. Had pasta in vodka sauce and chicken parm. Both were delicious. Great spot to ear after a show. Only issue is that noise level is high."

  • "Always great food... It was enjoyed by my out of town guests. I'm not a regular, but it is always on the top of our list and we haven't found a bad item on the menu! Reservations are a must during peak hours. Great for group, but it is family style and not everyone is good at sharing. It can be loud, so if you are looking for a intimate place stop in off peak."

  • "We just returned from a trip to NYC to see The Newsies. We had a reservation at 6pm and we walked in at 5:59pm. The restaurant waiting area was packed with people waiting yet when I checked in they were ready for us and we were seated right away! With 2 adults and 2 kids dining, we ordered the calamari, spaghetti and meatballs and a half order of Caesar salad. The half order of salad fed all 4 of us and the dressing was tossed table side which was fun! The calamari and spaghetti were delicious and we still had some of each leftover. Dinner was so good, fast service and we left feeling very satisfied and confident that we were on time for our show. We would go back to Tony's in a heartbeat! SO SO GOOD!!! We will be back!"

  • "Family-style Italian. Very loud, very fun. Lots of character. Warning: DO NOT go unless you are in a group of four or more, as each platter you order will serve at least 2-3 people. Went with two adults and two teens, ordered a Seafood Fra Diavolo (hearty, and tasty with great big pieces of lobster, calamari, etc.) and a chicken dish, with a small (?) platter of green beans. Could not even come close to finishing, and brought at least half home for later. Our waiter, Emin, was very professional but friendly with the right amount of flair and a bit of cheekiness. Really contributed to the atmosphere for us!"

  • "Went there for a business lunch meeting and I can't imagine having it anywhere else! Food was spectacular! They have family style, which depending on the group can be a good thing or a bad thing, or they have individual plates as well. Their chicken parmesan is seriously the best I've ever had at a restaurant, and the broccoli penne... WOW. Huge portions though, but it was so good I ate almost all of it!"

  • "Food was good with ample portions served family style. Service very good. We were in the downstairs dinning room which was much quieter than the upstairs, which seemed very noisy. Very convenient location for theater district."

  • "This is an excellent Italian restaurant just steps from Times Square. Keep in mind that the food is served family style, so a couple could easily share one dish. Fun for groups. Food is excellent and service is great. Our waiter's name was "Val" and he couldn't have been more attentive or professional. 5 stars all the way"

  • "My wife and I dined there on 8/9 and had a great meal. The place was packed and rightfully so. I suggest you make reservations and listen to the waiters on portion size. Each plate easily fills 2 adults. If you have teenager boys, maybe order more. Service, food and Sangeria were great. I would return in a heartbeat. Italian Cheescake is also a great way to top off the meal."

  • "Service and food were very good. The downstairs was very noisy but vibrant with many birthday parties and large groups. There was a strong unknown odor that was difficult to get past and the air conditioning made the room rather chilly. Overall, it was a good experience and a return visit wouldn't be out of the question."

  • "We don't mind some noise as we have two children, but there were some families who sat their 7-8 children all together and did not monitor their behavior. The restaurant did nothing. We were right next to the children and the parents were away. The food was good and easy with out two boys. It was not a foodie type of Italian, more basic, however there are so many selections that everyone can find something. The staff was terrific and the restaurant was clean. Other than the children who were not spoken to, the restaurant itself is nice and food is good."

  • "We were looking for a place relatively close to the Ambassador Theatre, where we were seeing Chicago. I booked the appointment days in advance, knowing how difficult it is to find a decent place in the middle of Broadway and Times Square madness. Good decision. The place was REALLY packed. We have a strong dislike for places that are overly busy, but we knew there was no way to back out and still find a decent meal before our show. We waited for our table to materialize. Again, good decision. Our server was friendly, attentive, and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal without being overbearing. The seafood linguini special was absolutely amazing. Our server was sensitive to our need to be on time. We highly recommend Tony's."

  • "Our waitress was very competent but did not agree with ny characterization of a wine I ordered previously. It was a slightly contentious conversation and there was no reason for it"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Tony's. Both the food and the service were excellent; I think a great value as well. My only criticism of this restaurant would be the acoustic – the voices really bounce off the walls/ceiling, and are not suppressed. That being said, I would definitely go back and still (highly) recommend."
