Diner Reviews
  • "Not the type of resturant I would classifi as an unscale dinning experience. Resturant called out for dressy casual and most all the patrons were in shorts. Food very average, presentation very lacking in fine dinning presentation, most all food was over cooked. I would not recommend this resturant for someone visiting Washington DC for an excetional dinner house. This resturant and it's location is geared mainly for the younger collage typoe of a crowd. Exicitng bar sence and out door patio dinning and bar type stuff."

  • "Food was fine but we had to flag down our waiter multiple times for service."

  • "The location will make you go, but the food is just okay. The service was terrible. We never knew who our waiter or waitress was, the kept changing."

  • "My family was in town for the 4th of July and wanted Seafood. Tony and Joe's Seafood Place had wonderful food - the view of the river was relaxing. Would highly recommend this restaurant"

  • "A group of seven of us had 8:15 dinner reservations on July 4th and were absolutely thrilled with out dining experience. We began the meal with the drink special (some sort of Lemon Fizz) and the calamari and crab dip appetizers--all exceeded expectations. Each of our entrees was 100 percent satisfying and delicious. What really made our evening so great, however, was when our waitress made sure we didn't miss the fireworks which began a few minutes after we'd received our main course. She ran over, called our names (we were all impressed she actually remembered them) and then told us to go outside and watch--she'd make sure our food remained untouched until we returned. Great experience overall--I will definitely return."

  • "Timely seating. Great server withan excellent sense of humor. We had four for dinner on the 4th of July. We all ordered a different fish entree an were all very pleased with the results. The restaurant was very busy, especially on the deck....no hurry. Thank you... We'll definitely return."

  • "Oh how I wish this could have been a better experience. Manager didn't seem bothered by our poor service, never even apologized. The brunch buffet was delicious and food was great. Overall, good value for $35 with all of the seafood and hot action stations, but I sincerely don't think I would go back based on our service and management. And this is coming from someone who currently works in the industry!"

  • "Was able to get a reservation for a large number over a holiday weekend, so that was appreciated. Food and service is always good."

  • "The restaurant was nice, the food was very good and the service was also very good. We went early as we had a harbor cruise to go on and they were quick and helpful. The server was very nice and helpful. We would go there again. Nice restaurant."

  • "We got seated really quickly even on a busy Friday night. We got an outdoor table right by the water. Food was good, service was good, I give it a thumbs up."

  • "We were seated right away but no one came to get our drink order and had to find a hostess to get someone to come over. She sent over Miss. J. who was not our waiter but saved the day. She took care of us for the whole meal and was a joy. The food was good and her recommendations were perfect but over all probably will not return. This was not the first visit but the last!!!!!!"

  • "We enjoyed the view and the wait staff. We were greeted pleasantly and professionally. Our table right on the water was nice. We ate inside with the AC. The food was good, and the server very knowledgeable. We had good time, and make a point of visiting the place when we visit."

  • "We were surprised by the breadth of the seafood buffet, the food was fresh and tasty and the service was very good. The Jazz trio was also a welcome surprise, not too loud and quite talented."

  • "After a day of walking in Downtown DC, a colleague and I stopped here for a quick dinner. The reservation was made through Open Table literally 20 minutes before we walked in. We received a friendly greeting and promptly seated. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a large party which had a second table of kids. The kids were rather unsupervised with one running about creating a bit of a disruption. The food was good, not spectacular, just good."

  • "Started off great, sitting outside enjoying the weather. The food was pretty good. The waitress was just absolutely horrible and slow. Started off with the crab dip which I've had before...contained GINORMOUS lumps (not crabmeant) of unmixed mayonaise. Asked for a re-do waitress asks me, "Well that's just how it is. What happens if its the same. So, I'm not going bring you another one." Um really. Then I order crabcakes. She actually says 1 or 2. I say 1 with fries. The one crabcake was $34 (or something like that) for 1 crabcake! She says its because I asked for fries instead of the veggie. Um really? Just a bad day. Had to work with the head waiter to resolve all of the issues and he even tried to blame me for the crabcake."

  • "We came for our 45th wedding anniversary, and it was a good choice. The seafood was excellent, and the service was great. Our waitress was very attentive, made a big fuss over us about our anniversary, even showing some neighboring tables a picture from our wedding day. She was humorous without being overbearing. The only complaint I had was that it was very noisy, perhaps because we were near highly reflective windows. It was Saturday night, and there were several tables nearby that seated a large number of diners, and that always produces a lot of shouting. I had difficulty hearing my wife, who was sitting next to me, not even across the table. We will come back again, however."

  • "Can't beat the location, but the food was just a notch above bar fare. The server was friendly and attentive, but we were stuck in a cramped corner even though we were in well before the dinner rush."

  • "Everything was mediocre. Expensive and disappointing."

  • "The food was delicious and the right size. We got an unexpected double serving of bread, that was warm and soft. The alarm going off was very well ignored due to the good company and food we had. I would definitely go back, but this time for dinner."

  • "This was the first time I been to this restaurant in many years and won't return. I thought for the price the food was mediocre the service was okay. Ordered the seafood tower and had to ask for cocktail sauce several times and thought the 1 lb lobster was tasteless."

  • "the food was quite good and the service very good. the outdoor seating is wonderful for people watching. the location right alongside the river is fabulous. fun spot."

  • "We"ve been to Tony and Joes many times over the years. We recently went for Father's Day brunch. The jazz band must've thought they were playing for the night crowd. They were so loud! We requested them to lower the music three times and our requests were ignored. It's ok, we will gladly go to Sequioa for brunch in the future. They may treat us as if we are valued customers."

  • "the crab cakes are very good and the blackened mahi mahi is outstanding went two nights, the first with two people and the second with a group of seven."

  • "My wife and I go to tony n joes atleast 5 to 6 times a year and we spend every fathers day there's not another brunch place that you can send me to that's going to match tony n joes there the best"

  • "I rated the noise level as high because we ate at an outside table, which of course was louder than if we had eaten outside."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The food and atmosphere were excellent. Did not like that if you wanted 1 mimosa, cost was $7 but $10 for unlimited mimosas."

  • "Took Dad for Father's Day Brunch and he thoroughly enjoyed it!! From the waiters to the gentlemen clearing out our place settings, Everyone who stopped at our table was courteous and professional! Food was delish!!! Crab dip was a little too salty for.me. Jazz was nice too!"

  • "Really strange place. Mediocre food in a fabulous location. We were seated next to a VERY large group (comprised of many tables) of some type of family gathering so it was really loud and the waiters were primarily busy with them."

  • "My first te visiting this Reataurant was awesome! The customer service was right on time and a friendly atmosphere. Iust say especially thank you to Jay our waitress she was excellent! Food was great as well and I will be returning soon!"

  • "The food was good but the service was horrible! The resturant was not that crowded yet our food took forever to come. Even our appetizers took long to come. And, our server never introduced himself. It did help, however, that the food was good and the portion sizes of our meals were nice. However, if you were there for lunch and had to go back to work, most likely, you would be late."

  • "A great choice for a casual dinner on the Georgetown waterfront. Both the food and the service were excellent. Seafood was especially fresh. Great pre theatre dinner spot for shows at the Kennedy Center."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "This was a very nice place to eat. The only issue is that a friends ordered the special 'rockfish', but the waiter did not make it clear that it was a whole fish. When it arrived it was very unappetizing and did not have much fish on the bones. It was went back. But the other food ordered, especially the crab cakes, was very good."

  • "We have been to brunch at Tony & Joe's several times over the past 20 years and went this year for our anniversary. Many years ago, I would have called Tony & Joe's one of the best brunches in Washington. Not so any more. Clearly, they're not looking to make money at brunch. The food was mediocre at best in quality and selection. The $35 that you pay for the brunch can only be justified by the view of the Potomac River and Kennedy Center. We also enjoyed the jazz band but that went downhill quickly when the band took a break and the restaurant piped-in Led Zeppelin in their absence (yikes!) I would go back, but I would most certainly look to order something more casual off their menu and enjoy their outdoor seating on a nice day."
    Dined on 6/1/2014
  • "If you are going to Tony and Joe's to dine outside, I would suggest eating elsewhere and then going there for drinks. They have tons of outdoor seating space, which makes their first-come first-serve for outside seats bearable, as you can usually get a table (depending on your group size and the time and date you go). We were able to get a table for 6 at 7:45PM on a Saturday, and it was already busy! It is great to sit out there on the waterfront, enjoy the weather, and people watch. Unfortunately, the food was incredibly underwhelming - my scallops were not cooked evenly, and the sides resembled canned vegetables heated up in a pot on the stove. They charge WAY too much for such uninspired, and quite frankly not very delicious, meals."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "Food was great! Service was prompt and responsive. The clam chowder and crab cakes were some of the best we have had. "
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "The restaurant is spacious and open enough that when you're with a large group you don't feel as if you're in anyone's way. The food was delicious, but I do wish they used less butter on the veggies. Service was great, overall it was a thumbs up."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "Everyone loves the waterfront, but you would attract many more customers if you lowered prices...$30 for a small entre is bad business. Great place otherwise!"
