  • "I was impressed with the service - especially for South Beach - but the food was also outstanding. Would definitely return!"

  • "Visiting south beach and wanted a place for good food without the hype. Location on Washington is very convenient if you are staying south of 5th. Great happy hour. Able to carry a half price bottle of wine from the bar to the table. Food was great although our waitress was not the warmest. Great quiet place with a reasonable menu. Would recommend highly."

  • "Our food was fantastic, the service was wonderful and all in a very relaxed yet trendy atmosphere."

  • "We'd heard great things about Tongue & Cheek and it did not disappoint. The cheese and charcuterie were a wonderful starter, followed by beet salads, and then on to the skirt steak and beef cheek burger. Everything was sumptuous and our server was knowledgeable and attentive as well. Plus a neighborhood-y feel in South Beach is nice. Highly recommended!"

  • "Went there on the recommendation of someone at our hotel. It sounded like an interesting menu. But they have just started serving lunch there. It was ok. but not very interesting. The service was slow. We sat outside on the side walk patio. Wouldn't do that again. It is near a very noisy intersection."

  • "When I made a comment about the combination of ingredients in one dish, our waitress explained "well, the name of the restaurant is tongue in cheek." So, they have a sense of humor, and a really inventive way with ingredients. Although pricey, we opted to start with some cleverly named cocktails. I had a cucomfortably numb--vodka, cucumber and dill. Very refreshing. My husband had a donkey punch--tequila, jalapeno, ginger beer, cilantro and yuzu. It had a real kick and was served in a Moscow mule mug. We shared an appetizer of lettuce wraps with pigs ears, oranges and peanuts. A sweet and salty taste explosion. I never thought I would eat pigs ears, but I am glad I did. They make their own pasta, and it is light and wonderful."

  • "I had heard great things about this place, but was quite disappointed. The food was just ok - we had brunch and my eggs were very under-cooked (even the whites were runny), when I asked the waitress if the kitchen could cook them a little longer she responded 'it's sous-vide' which was a weird response to me, I had asked for them to be cooked for longer, I didn't enquire as to the cooking method. The little potato hash things served with our meals had potential but weren't cooked quite right, they were soft on the outside and we both felt they were supposed to be a little crunchy? The service was friendly enough, but it took a long time for our plates to be removed once we were finished eating. The decor was fine, but a little lacking."

  • "I had a skirt steak that was cut up in small pieces. It came with mushrooms and brussel sprouts. The whole dish looked like dog food and was served in a soup plate for $34.00. and it was cold. I do not like my steak to be cut in small pieces like a parent does for a small child. The veggies had the same color as the meat. Very poor presentation and way overpriced. I had the feeling it was some poor left over steak that did not have a good shape so lets just cut it up! My appetizer, roasted beet salad was not freshly prepared. It was ice cold from the fridge and it did not taste that good."

  • "We followed our server Claire's advice, starting with the drinks. When Doves Cry and the Ron Burgundy were phenomenal. Fantastic roasted beet salad as an appetizer and charcuterie with two recommended cheeses and truffle sausage, yummy. Then we shared the salmon dinner special followed by fresh strawberries which were magical. We ate outside, weather was perfect. Our server was super attentive and we had a great time. Food came out quickly but we were not rushed. My friend and I plan to return to try the famous brunch."

  • "Our waiter was very abrupt and seemed annoyed by questions about the menu. Other servers walking around compensated. Otherwise this place is awesome. Def go for brunch! French toast, huevos rancheros and cheek burger are can't miss!"

  • "I went with a group of 7 people to Tongue & Cheek for brunch, and we all had a fabulous time. The food was so delicious, with something to suit everyone's tastes. The sticky bun is so warm and tasty, and everyone loved the potatoes. We will definitely be returning to Tongue & Cheek!"

  • "Visiting Miami this is definitely a must for go-to spots! Had read about the recent awards and they weren't wrong. The food was delicious, server was really nice and the space is very cool. The only thing we didn't like was 1 dessert! Will definitely be going back on my next visit."

  • "I had heard about it but it turned out to be another South Beach over-hyped (and priced) dud. Sub-zero freezing AC, small apps and dessert but huge entree. 45 minutes between courses. I'm getting bored now talking about a restaurant I will never go back to...Bye"

  • "Had a great dinner w/our friends at Tongue & Cheek! Got there at 8pm on Friday -- place really filled up about 8:30 / 9pm. Great, friendly service. Server (tall, blonde lady) was so knowledgable about the menu and so nice! We tried everything from the meat & cheese platters to the Chicharrones, brussel sprouts to mushrooms to poutine...YUM! Will definitely go back!!"

  • "Jamie de rosa is a great chef who finally has his own restaurant, and it is a gem. Outstanding decor and food and good vibe. Service is good and the menu has interesting offerings. Very welcoming hot spot."

  • "This restaurant has high quality food. The waitress was incredibly helpful and made real recommendations (did not just direct us to the more expensive of the options we were considering). The portions were smaller than normal restaurants, but enough to fill you up. What they did not possess in quantity they made up for in quality. My only real complaint is that I had no warning that the "key lime pie" would be a small smudge of pie filling on a plate. It was very "artsy" but not what I was expecting or would have paid full price for. It was more of a "taste" of what pie could be. Other than that, an excellent place."

  • "Great Saturday brunch. Bottomless Mimosas and live music. The prices were high but not outrageous."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We really enjoyed the food and wine here. Service was really great - when the restaurant was out of the wine we chose, the server offered us the more expensive bottle of the same wine for the cheaper price which was really generous. The food was delicious - fried chicken excellent. The sea bass was a nice piece of fish really perfectly cooked. The only downside was the noise level which even early on in the evening was way too loud. Perfect if you're in a big gang of ten and don't care, but maybe not the best place to bring Mom or someone you want to have a chat with."

  • "We had an early reservation on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was not even half full, but the music was playing full blast, making conversation near impossible."

  • "I went to T&C when you guys first opened for dinner. It was ok.. it didn't blow my mind. Coming back for brunch the other day i tasted the love, the key ingredient missing from my dinner months back. The only issue i had was the food came out all at once. It wasn't that busy so i would have loved gradual "courses". Enough of me being critical, the food was really delicious and i'll absolutely be coming back!"

  • "Simply amazing!! From the moment we walked in the hotness made us feel welcome. Our server was friendly , my girlfriend ordered the fried chicken and waffles and I didn't know what to order so I asked out waiter to pick for me. Our food was on the table quickly and simply delicious. We decided to go half and half with our plates... The fried chicken and waffles was tender, full of flavor, and just the right amount of spicy. We do not like Mexican food but our Huevos Rancheros made out taste buds happy (I have never had such a good plate in my life). As a hotelier it's hard to impress me, but this place won a little piece of my heart. I will definitely come back soon and I have told my entire staff about this place!"

  • "You know how Chef's get very creative to provide interesting variations? Tongue & Cheek's menu shows a lot of creativity, and if better executed, could be a stand-out restaurant. Service isn't nearly as attentive as Miami Beach's best restaurants, but is tolerable with plenty of servers to get your order and ensure your water and wine glasses are filled. As the name implies, their forte is serious meat, and seafood entrees are OK, but by no means excellent."

  • "Great meal, excellent service--attentive without being cloying. Could have benefitted from one more appetizer choice--it seemed to offer choices only between very unusual items (chicken skins, pig ears) and the usual (bruschetta. But overall a great experience. Fair prices too."

  • "The food was pretty good here, and the cocktails were nice as well, which we drank because there weren't many good wine options. This is a convenient spot to eat for SoFi locals, but it's not really a place I'm dying to go back to. The service was a little slow, and it was a little hard to hear since the music (albeit good and diverse) was loud."

  • "A group of 6 of us had brunch at Tongue and Cheek. The service was excellent but we were quite dismayed at the food quality. We sent back a fruit plate that was topped by two rotting raspberries and contained what the waiter described as "compressed" melon. It was barely edible. Egg dishes were also sent back as they came out significantly under cooked. Staff did their best to make up for a lack of concern and quality in the kitchen."

  • "Another place with buzz in the media and wanted to try. Had an evening dinner and shared the poutine, rigatoni and fish & chips. Washed all that down with a couple of pomegranate manhattans. Pluses: The interior design. Oddly enough, the low pop music. Nice location near but not on Ocean Drive. Minuses: Our server was not on his A Game. Some of the food was not on it's A game. Space: That typical rustic farm-to-table motif, but it is done well here. Service: Cheers to the hostess and busboy. Boo to the server. Food & Drink: Poutine was divine. Fish & chips and pasta were good but not wow. Loved the cocktail. Value: Not bad except for the entrees. Would I go back? Yes (with the Bulgarian busboy as a server and different entrees)."

  • "Good was great, restaurant was loud, service was fast. Parking is horrible in that neighborhood so get there early to look for a street spot. The valet is $20, not worth it if you aren't going to stay at the beach all day"

  • "I so wanted to give this place 5 stars. Fantastic service, spectacular appetizers, great wine and then....worst steak ever. You could lick the plates the sides and sauces were so good but meat could not even be cut with a knife for a $50 steak. Would go again, but next time get the gourmet or non-steak item as main course."
