Tom's Urban 24exceeded expectationsWe were very impressed with the delicious food at Tom's, as well as the fast, friendly and upbeat service-Matt was very attentive, and the manager even came over for a chat.The spinach saled and Cobb(24) were excellent, and my friend enjoyed her lobster pot pie with a nice fluffy puffed topping "en croute".
All of the desserts were delicious-blueberry crumble, chocolate flourless cake, cherry pop-tart, and yummy vanilla bean ice-cream. They were very generous with their coffee refills.
We will recommend it highly to our friends, and definitely return in the very near future! The server is doing everything right and then some, so we just relax and enjoy ourselves. We take a few of her menu suggestions and were happy with our choices. The service was great with the exception of very slow on drink orders. Even though there were 3 bartenders behind the bar, it took way to long to get our first drink order, and again for our 2nd drink order. We were nearly done with our meal by the time our 2nd round was delivered. We went for Sunday brunch, thereby minimizing one of its inherent drawbacks--finding parking. The food was good, and Tom's Pop-Tarts are great ... the choices that day were cherry and fig-goat cheese (both were yummy). They do go with the trendy decor that maximizes sound level, which is very common but not optimal for our group. The waitstaff was great. What were you expecting? This place provides a fun venue to have pre- or post-theatre dinner -- or a late night bite. There are some different and delicious menu options (buffalo duck wings and Korean BBQ sandwich come to mind), but it doesn't pretend to be the most exquisite meal in town. The urban Mary and the jade Mary were not nearly the crafted 'bloody mary' I expected. While the taste was on par with others I have had across the country, the drinkability was lacking. The jade Mary uses a tomatilla purée that leaves small seeds in the bottom of the glass that continually were getting stuck in my teeth, straw, etc. Other than that tho The food is fantastic and I will be back to work my way through the menu. I had the angus meat loaf and can't wait to come back for the 'chicken & waffles'.
