Diner Reviews
  • "True there isn't a shoreline pounding the surf at your table, but the food and service more than balanced a fine meal. The menu has a great selection of tasty food that isn't just seafood. After a couple weeks dining in Maui some variety is appreciated, but the snapper I had was delicious. The service was very good and right there, but not in your face. The prices reflect fine dining, but you save the cost of hearing the waves so it in some ways is a better value. Not being a hotel people are more dressed for the occasion, which matters to us when we are looking for an overall quality experience."

  • "A beautiful restaurant located in the Shops at Wailea. The menu is quite eclectic as is the cocktail menu. My wife ordered the Seared Ahi Kale Salad which she found to be fresh and delicious. I ordered the Cuban Sandwich with a House Salad and Yucca Plant Fries. It was the perfect Cuban sandwich. Our server was effficient but did not rush us through our meal. All in all it was an enjoyable experience."

  • "I would consider this restraunt comparable in food and service with Roy's around the islands. We had dined the evening before at Gannons, and for scenery, food, and service Tommy Bahama was close, but not up to teh same standard."

  • "Every year when we visit Maui we make sure to dine at TB several times. Lunch and dinner are both fantastic. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. You can't go wrong."

  • "Pleasant outdoor patio. Friendly server. Coconut shrimp and MaiTai delicious. Steak and snapper prepared perfectly. Shared key lime pie was a delightful ending."

  • "How hard is it to not overlook the fish? A beautiful piece of $40 fish, dry as a bone. Surely it can't be that hard to get it on the plate a little bit sooner."

  • "We loved the fun atmosphere and friendly efficient service. We started with the Beet & Arugula Salad, and then had 3 main dishes, that we all shared. I returned to this restaurant just for the Sanibel Chicken, and it was fantastic as usual. The stuffed shrimp and fish special were fantastic as well. Each meal has a very distinct flavour, and seasoned to perfection! The noise level was very high in the main restaurant, so we enjoyed the outside lanai for our group of 3 friends! Can't wait to return."

  • "We had reservations for 7:00 PM. We were seated upon arrival, so that was good. It was very crowded and very noisy. There was background music with a thud, thud from the base. It added to the noise plus because of the base, thuds made it very uncomfortable. I did ask to have it turned down and I believe they lowered it somewhat but still annoying. I had the jerk chicken.... Very dry. Definitely not fine dining, we tried it once but never again."

  • "This food is terrible and it's a shame it's so popular. It's just not worth the money, or the time."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner for 9 of us to celebrate our father's birthday. The food was wonderful, our server was attentive and the birthday cake was delicious! Thank you for a special night!"

  • "Sitting outdoors, on a balmy spring night, at a Tommy Bahama's on Maui (at the Shops at Wailea, right next to their Tommy Bahama's retail clothing store), how could it NOT be great? Besides the built in ambiance, the food was really creative and tasty, and the service was top notch. I especially liked my Crab Bisque (made with local, fresh-caught crab) and jumbo coconut shrimp, with a tropical fruit relish. Highly recommended to complement the Maui experience!"

  • "We had an excellent experience in this location. Food was as advertised, service was great and the server had a very good working knowledge of the whole menu!"

  • "Excellent meal at this trendy restaurant in Maui. We ordered 4 appys and a Caesar salad and had plenty of delicious food. The crab cakes were moist with lots of real crab. We also had coconut shrimp, ahi tuna tacos and sear scallop sliders - the later of which was a bit heavy on bread. The place was very busy and very noisy. Service was efficient if not attentive. Price was reasonable in a town that is notorious for being expensive!"

  • "Great food. The Mai Tai was one of the best on the island."

  • "We went for diner. The menu is very varied, food was delicious. The cocktails are very good. So far we haven't been disappointed. Would recommend to everyone, it is a great place for groups, family with kids, romantic dinner (one can seat on the patio). Always on our list of restaurant during our vacation in Maui."

  • "Although this is a chain restaurant in a shopping mall (Which my husband would usually hate), food was absolutely delicious and creative in preparation. Large portions, fantastic cocktails, a lovely Island feel, live music, delicious fish and amazing desserts... we had a great time there!"

  • "Great outdoor atmosphere. Fun bar service and also family dining. Food was very good.mahi mahi to die for! Our friend had Jerk Chicken and found it way too hot! Didn't have it this time but the Tommy's Coconut cake is incredible and big enough to share. Only complaint always too noisy inside."

  • "It has been a regular stop on our yearly tour to Maui - we have dined here many times and find the place really good. I would recommend reservations - I use "Open Table" App which works fine. The notable snacks here are the Coconut Crusted Prawns - they are amazing and the free bread with the cinnamon butter is pretty good also. We usually have the Key Lime pie for dessert - it is really fresh and a nice light treat. Please note, we dine out as a family of 4 - they are very particular eaters and they really enjoy the diverse menu options - they always find something good on the menu. I would highly recommend Tommy Bahamas for a nice dinner outing for two or the family. Aloha to all!!!"

  • "Place was packed and the kitchen must have been slammed based on quality and timing of food delivery. I now better understand the mixed reviews. The have a formula they are following and some of it works, but some things feel out of alignment. Mixed drinks were outstanding and they had an extensive wine by the glass list. Apps and salad were good - price a bit high but not ridiculous. Entrees were very pricy for size and quality. We had the crab stuffed shrimp - $26 for four medium sized shrimp with rice and sautéed spinach...nice margin on that dish. Buns on our kids sliders came out burnt and they sent the wrongs side items. Overall the price does not justify the quality and the rush to push out dishes leads to mistakes."

  • "My wife and I have always enjoyed Tommy Bahamas and this was no exception. The food was excellent, the environment was wonderful, and our server (David) was fantastic. He was bright, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. His recommendations were excellent and he had an impeccable sense of timing. Another great experience at Tommy Bahamas."

  • "This was not our first trip to Tommy Bahamas, but it was for our friends, which thought the experience was fantastic. Our meals were presented well, hot and very very tasty! The chocolate cake was fabulous treat, and large enough to share. Love the online reservation feature of your web site."

  • "My wife and I went to dinner with mellow expectations. Our waiter, Michael was excellent and made the dinner much better than we expected. My lava flow and my wife's blood orange marguerite started us of in the right mood. My crab soup was excellent starter. I had a Thai curry with shrimp and scallops, superb!. Finishing up with expresso and key lime pie. Superb! So what went wrong? When we were being seated the hostess tried us in a booth, which we did not like. We asked for a table on the deck. She brought us to a table at the door to the deck and said that the open table on the deck was reserved. We accepted and then set throughout our dinner looking at the unoccupied table. Just as we were leaving people were going to be seated."

  • "The outside dining area was unavailable because of rain the previous night! Difficult to see why this problem could not have been resolved with some towels, mops and hard work. Restricted to the inside area it was crowded, warm and humid . The food was very good and well priced .The server was very sociable and efficient . I will certainly go again but only if the outside area is available."

  • "After having several fabulous dinners around Wailea we had a disappointing experience. We had reservation for 530 pm. When we arrived the hostess asked us to be seated while a table was cleared. She had a bit of a snobby attitude.this continued with our servers service. Honestly, the food was just ok. We had the scallops and shrimp Thai style with coconut rice. No veggies with the dish as the sides were extra. The flavor was nice for the sauce that existed - definitely would have been better with a tiny bit more sauce. Partner had Mac nut crusted snapper. Presented with no flair, entire plate was tan, including the asparagus that was over cooked. For 35-40.00 per entree we kind of expected a little more creative presentation."

  • "Our family of 5 didn't enjoy our meals. My husband and I had the crab stuffed shrimp that was totally overwhelmed by the thai chili sauce, my son had the chicken and my daughter the snapper both were barely average. The kids macaroni was okay. I realize this is a shopping mall chain, but I expected more for the price."

  • "We enjoyed a little diversity from simple local joints. By no means it is a fancy place, but has a nice selection of meats and seafood. The cocktails are fresh but very very sweat. The fish was good, but the crab cakes were not."

  • "On this trip we've eaten at TB's three times, two dinners and a lunch with friends. From the Kona coffee rubbed ribeye to the fish tacos, everything was excellent. Beyond the great food, the atmosphere and staff just make us feel like we're at home with friends. We never miss TB's on our tripstoMaui!"

  • "We love Tommy Bahamas and try to go whenever there is one in the area we are traveling in. The food was delicious and they have a great variety of fresh seafood. My wife recommends the Plantation cocktail! The service is usually excellent however our waitress seemed a little distracted and disappeared for long periods, my wife needed some extra sauce but finished her meal by the time she reappeared, but we understand that can happen anywhere and other wait staff seemed very attentive to their tables."

  • "Had an enjoyable experience dining at Tommy Bahama's for Valentine's Day. We ordered several pupus to start. We really enjoyed the seafood dynamite special they had for the evening. The lobster bisque and entrees were equally as excellent. I have been here several times but it was my first time trying the macadamia nut crusted snapper which is now my favorite dish on the menu. The service was great. We had a late dinner but the staff was kind and we never felt rushed even though we were the last diners to leave."

  • "We were first seated at a table where the noise level was so high that my wife and I could not talk to each other. Chad, the manager came and moved us to an outside table where the noise level was much lower than inside. He was very polite and wanted to do what was needed to make us comfortable. My wife had the stuffed shrimp which she said was just ok. I had the macadamia crusted snapper, which I did not enjoy. The restaurant was packed, so evidently we were just not a place that was to our taste. We have never gone here before, but some friends said they thought the food was great. We do not agree and will not return."
