  • "We booked on open table and arrived within 10 minutes. So the opentable system is very fast and we were greeted with traditional Aloha style and waited on by Beth and she was very attentitve, Super nice to my son and wife and we had a great "Linner". We really enjoyed it and will be back. Rick"

  • "We were incredibly disappointed with most meals in Hawaii and we were leaving that night and decided to try Tommy Bahamas. I had made, then canceled a reservation earlier in the week because we didn't have a car, so thought we should get there once we got our rental. We were so impressed and thrilled with the restaurant in every aspect. The food was delicious, the ambience was spectacular and the service was outstanding. We didn't think it was any more expensive than anywhere else in the island. And, it was by far the best value since the food was so good. We HIGHLY recommend you visit Tommy Bahamas on your stay in the Big Island."

  • "There was nothing memorable about this restaurant other than being loud. If you're wanting a quiet dinner, this is not the place. The music was cranked up louder during our dinner which resulted in people talking even louder. No quiet conversation here. The food was only average and the prices were no bargain. No reason to return."

  • "waiter Henry was the best guy there he is right on and gave us room to talk and not pushing and gave us time to think about the menu very helpful explaining what each dish was.... We sat on the lanai table of three 27 March 6pm He is very knowledgeable on the menu .. Along with being good looking he worked hard and the best waiter ever ( very humble )...... I'll go back just to have him wait on us again. He is a asset to Tommy Bahama actually he is Tommy Bahama...... He is the man !!"

  • "Could not have been better. Ahi was the best ever, so was the Mahi, and the Shrimp and Scallops."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "The kitchen must have heeded the Tommy Bahama "relax" slogan because dinner took over 2 hours despite a terrific server. The food isn't good enough to justify the wait."

  • "A last minute decission to go to Mauna Lani, TB and use the 20% off coupon. Easy always to book an available time and table. Much better than calling. Very good service. Good consistant food, and the ease of using the coupon, several times if we want."

  • "Thee crab bisque is excellent - creamy and light with just enough crab chunks to whet your interest. The Nueske's bacon cheeseburger is a fabulous treat with a Wisconsin flair! Well done."

  • "We have dined twice at Tommy Bahamas at Mauna Lani and we have enjoyed each experience. From the moment you are greeted at the check-in podium all the way through to dessert, the service is just great. Everyone very friendly and accommodating. We have had both fish and meat dishes, all prepared and presented very well. One of my favorites is the Bungalow salad....Yum!"

  • "I have a gluten allergy and was very impressed with the menu substitutions they provided. Both our server and anyone that brought food to the table was very knowledgable about the ingredients and made a point every time a dish was brought to me that it was described as "gluten free" before placed down."

  • "Like Ruth's Chris which is in the same development, Tommy's is dependable with good service and food. the Ahi poke and seared Ahi was excellent as was my wife's salad and steak. No problems here. Cost about what you would expect for a nice restaurant on the Big Island and portions were fairly generous."

  • "First time there for lunch and friends enjoyed their meals however my husband and I were splitting a bacon cheese burger. It was cold and the cheese was not even melted. It was as if the meat had been pre-cooked and waiting for assembly. I was quite disappointed for the price. The desert was great however."

  • "We had read many reviews and Tommy's sounded great. The food was fair at best. We had soup and crab cakes for appetizers they were really good. I had the ribs for dinner and had to send them back they were burnt. My husband had the fish and that was ok. We had a resrvation and we arrived right behind party of 30.. So waiter trying to be nice had us order in a hurry so we would not get behind large party orders.. Nice gesture but felt rushed then.. I ordered crab cakes as second dinner they were good but potatoes and asparagus were cold. When asked for dinner off the bill then manager said was aware but forgot to come over and tell us.. Overall good for appetizers and drinks for not dinner.."

  • "We had eaten there many times over the years. The food has always been good and the service attentive . This last time however the service was awful with dirty dishes and glasses left at the end of the table for quite a while Also our server came around rarely. A surprisingly very poor performance for a restaurant that has such a good reputation and has been reliable in the past"

  • "We have gone to this Tommy Bahamas since they opened in the Mauna Lani shops near us. We love the ambiance, food, music and views. When we fly here from the mainland, this is the place we have an EARLY dinner. Love it!"

  • "The friendly manager, Mr Johnny, came by to check on us and he was so nice and cordial. He bought my desert! We love this place and especially the atmosphere. It is hoppin. You will need a reservation. Use open table. Blackened tuna was perfect. Salads were tasty. All fish dinners are good. Musician playing in the background. No negatives"

  • "My family and I went to Tommy Bahamas for a birthday dinner, and I was blown away by how great the service was and how delicious the food tasted! We were sat right away, and the waiter was so friendly and took the time to chat with us as we were visiting from Los Angeles and asked for recommendations on places to visit. Everything was exceptional and I would definitely visit a Tommy Bahamas in my area."

  • "Not what I expected from a restaurant associated with a clothing brand. The manager Mr. Nguyen runs a very tight ship The staff is well trained and professional; the food arrived hot and beautifully prepared and presented. The waitress was warm and friendly without wanting to be our buddy. It's also a very nice room with large glass doors that open to the tropical night. Try the Baja Margarita....excellent! Our third time here, we are yet to be disappointed."

  • "We were there for lunch had a great outside table and fantastic service! We all had The Cuban sandwich and it was very tasty! Good bread well pressed and grilled gooey cheese and yummy dill pickles! There were other interesting choices on the menu that we will have to go back to try!!"

  • "I have been to TB several times..and consistently the veggies that are on the menu are never served..and the excuse I always the same..."we ran out and our shipment is due tomorrow"..the reality they dont order whats on the menu..nor do they tell their guests in advance what is really going to be on their plate...is is that big of a deal--probably not..but it is unpleasant and certainly deceptive"

  • "Food was just okay and quite expensive given the quality and attention to detail. I asked for my fish with no rice just veg and it came the way they normally prepare it with rice. We asked for dessert with no whipping cream and it came out with whipping cream. My husband's Brussel sprouts were very overdone and the mash potatoes were pathetic."

  • "We had a wonderful evening. All of the staff were friendly and wonderful even though the restaurant was busy. The entertainment was perfect. I always recommend this restaurant."

  • "Had a 7:30 reservation on a Sunday evening, and by this time they managed to run out of 1) sashimi from their daily specials, 2) snapper for a main course from the specials and main menu, and 3) their coconut cake dessert...all in all, poor inventory management. Since the sashimi had already been sold out, we decided to go with the ahi poke, which was 1/5 ahi, 4/5 avocado (wouldn't be shocked if they were running out of ahi as well and trying to stretch their ingredients). Finally, with service, the main courses were served while we were eating our appetizers, which is absolutely uncalled for. All in all, a disappointing experience. There are plenty of other restaurants in S. Kohala/Waikoloa that should be visited before coming here."

  • "Our family of four dined at Tommy Bahama's on Christmas Eve. From the moment we arrived everything was exceptional. We were seated at a beautiful outside table with a nice breeze, my basil grapefruit martini was delicious and our server provided wonderful suggestions. My husband is trying to eat less meat and more veggies. Our server went out of her way to help him find an entree he would feel good about and enjoy. He loved it! We have two teenage girls who also loved the experience. I only wish we had tried Tommy Bahama's sooner! We will be making our reservation for Christmas Eve dinner 2014 at Tommy Bahama's! Looking forward to returning."

  • "My husband and I were on the islands celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and Tommy's staff made sure we had a memorable night. They were very gracious hosts and I was extremely surprised when the next evening we received a call asking us if we enjoyed the night there - to which I say ABSOLUTELY!"

  • "Having visited the Tommy Bahamas in NY, I knew what to expect when I dined in Hawaii and I was not disappointed. The food was great. I had the crab stuffed shrimp. Spicy , but delicious. My husband had the ribs. Fall off the bone tender. Our server was named Faith and she was very pleasant. Attentive to our needs and very personable. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and made very good suggestions. The bread was hot and delicious. After gobbling down the first basket she offered to bring us another, which we happily accepted. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "My husband and I frequented TB the last time we stayed in Kona. We went back again to celebrate and the food and service were just as wonderful as we remembered from 2 years ago! That says a lot about the consistent quality of this restaurant. Recommended it to several people while we were in Kona and I know we will be back!"

  • "Yep, just like the clothes, elegant, sophisticated, great service, beautiful presentation, expensive. But hey, it's Hawaii, and everything is expensive. We had a great dinner and the service was superb. Great waitress, and the manager came by to chat and make sure everything was OK. Very nice. Professional. Some reviewers noted that on the veranda you look out over the parking lot. True, but you really don't notice it as the railing mostly hides it. The car noise is not an issue. If there is a great sunset sky, you will have a great view of it. It is close to the Mauna Lani Hotel, and quite honestly we thought the food at Tommy was much better than the Canoe House. So, yes, highly recommended. Great family place. We will go back."

  • "The staff was very friendly and polite, attentive and quick. The food was quite good, but at their prices, it had better be. I think I got what I paid for, but not more. But with their outstanding service, I was happy to leave a 20% tip."

  • "We had a great time at dinner. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. We had also eaten lunch at this Tommy Bahama restaurant two days before, and are planning to have lunch there again today! It's not the least expensive place to eat, but definitely worth the price!"

  • "The Tommy Bahama restaurant has good food, good service, but is overpriced for what you get. Seems like it's consistent with most things Tommy.... I buy them anyway, and I'll do it again (food included)."
