Tommy Bahama - New YorkAmazing food and ambiance! The restarant is the best kept secret....the decor is amazing and beautiful, The service/staff are so friendly and welcoming. The menu has a great selection and the food is wonderful!!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMa pleasant surprise!!i booked this restaurant for mother's day because it was the few onces that i could get a reservation. we didn't expect much because we knew it was a "clothing store's" restaurant....but we were pleasantly surprised!! the food was good, the ambience was nice and the service was outstanding!! the only reason why i gave the food 4 stars is that the calamari was very oily but the rest of the appetizers, entrees and desserts that we ordered were excellent. our mom was really happy....and she ain't easy to please!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mothers Day dinnerI found this spot because it had something for everyone, my mom wanted seafood, my grandma loves tropics & drinks, and I love ambiance & great service. We ordered coconut shrimp, crab cakes, snapper, surf & turf, crab stuffed shrimp, Pina Colada cake, peach Sangria was weak, margarita was light but the coconut martini was strong! All the food was fresh, fulfilling and presented very well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLight menu, tasty and freshLight menu, tasty and fresh choices- extensive wine and drink list, nice atmosphere, very pleasant servers.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTropical Escape in midtwn ManhattaA group of us went for brunch on a sunny Saturday at noon. With the sunlight and the decor it does almost feel like a tropical getaway in the Bahamas.
We started off with cocktails mixed so well that even though the alcohol was super strong, there was no offensive taste to it.
The fried calamari is seasoned and done very well. The new brunch offerings were also amazing. Most of the group had and loved the lobster omelette. I had the lobster BLT which I thought was even better.
Our waitress was super energetic and friendly. She gave us great recommendations and made sure we had a great time. We'll definitely go back again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMKayeI particularily enjoy the atmosphere the ambience is great. While I was there for the 2nd time, I had the idea of creating a mild Ganga scented room fragrance to top off the caribbean team. The food is excellent and I like the fact that the drinks are not watered down. I love the flavor of the entire restaurant. The employes are all vibrant and upbeat. Great job!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service and decorThe food and service and decor were great and the desserts were amazing. The only issue was there waitress gave us a list of available beer. They were out of the first 2 beers we ordered. Overall, it was a great experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent drinks service foodExcellent drinks service food dessert.
Top shelf all the way!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyableA great dining experience - fun environment, great food, perfect service. If you like sangria, they have a great one !5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFlorida in Mid-TownTommy Bahama is a great addition to the NY Mid-Town restaurant scene. My wife and I have been to the original in Naples, FL and always thought the whole concept would do well in NY. Great food and drinks, hip but professional young servers, crowded vibrant bar and convenient to the theater district. Throw in the adjacent Tommy Bahama store for chic tropical clothing and TB looks like a winner.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNice FindA client recommended this place for lunch and I am glad she did. The ambiance was one of tropical paradise, the bar tender was sweet and attentive and the food was delish. I would definitely go back!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant. We had theGreat restaurant. We had the short rib sliders and they were amazing. The meat was tender and juicy and flavorful. Accompanied by a coleslaw that just left me speechless. The fried onions on top were kind of cold and a little oily but it didn't matter once i bit into that slider. This was on the appetizer list and came with 2 so hubby and I shared and it was still substantial. Our main entrees were the blackened fish tacos and the chicken & mango salad both dishes were fantastic. The tacos come with a side of sweet plantains sitting in a tropical yogurt with pineapple and coconut that I could have just eaten a tub of. Great experience and service.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMService was very good, theService was very good, the server was outstanding. The food was prepared to order and served with class.overall a restaurant to visit and eat.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Like many other people, I didn't have the idea to go in a restaurant with a clothes store name! But I read the reviews and I decided to try. And I did well! The place is nice and well decorated, "contemporary-ocean" style. There was a singer who was playing the guitar but we were not too close from him so it was not too loud (I hat noisy places!). The waitress was lovable; the service was pretty fast; we barely had the time to drink our cocktail when our entrées came. The food is really good : no fat or stodgy sauce. Just a delicious marinated and grilled fish with some delicious and healthy sides. But keep some space for dessert that will be displayed in a tray so you can choose easily. Excellent experience; I will definitely go back!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening!Food, service, ambience - all great!!!
Anthony, our waiter was wonderful &
Paul, the manager was as well.
We will be back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!!! Definitely ourLove it!!! Definitely our new Favorite spot in NYC. We travel from Oregon every couple of months. Flo is our favorite server ....she makes an already fun experience even better.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe found this as a last-minuteWe found this as a last-minute and went for this based on previous reviews for a group of 5. It was reasonably quiet upstairs but great ambiance and nice decor. Our waitress was FAB, super friendly and helpful, and spot on with recommendations! We ordered three starters between us to share, a main each (the cod was fantastic, as was the seared tuna)with two sides to share - which was plenty - and then 2 desserts to share as well. Really lovely food and great service at a very reasonable price. Definite recommend!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIt feels like you went awayIt feels like you went away to the Carribean. Love the atmosphere..didn't love the winding staircase up there..felt a little dizzy by the time you get to the top. I had the coconut shrimp which was very tasty. The seared tuna was excellent. Highly recommend it. And it was a good size portion. Very friendly service.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMbiz lunch midtownI come to Tommy for business lunches and happy hours. Everyone loves the food and the festive cocktails, however the service is on 'island time'. It's a great spot but only if you have 2 hours to spare.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere and theme,Great atmosphere and theme, live music, friendly staff and great food.
Make sure to ask for the vegetarian menu as it has a lot of good options on there (most are cheaper than the main menu).4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Chan is Amazing - heChef Chan is Amazing - he surprises us with his own creation/signature dish, and explains the ingredients in details. Love our waitress, Rosary (? sorry but I might have spelled it wrong), who introduces popular cocktails to the group and are so upbeat & enthusiastic while interacting with us. We easily spent almost 4 hours at the comfortable corner sofa for relaxing lunch; ended up shopping at Tommy Bahama (happily buzzed) and went home with yummy food in the bally and fantastic items (signature candle, coasters, scarf & boxer) in hand. I will certainly return with friends and colleagues!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMore to Tommy Bahama than clothes!Caught up with a long-long-time friend after work and decided to give Tommy Bahama a try. The bar downstairs is on the narrow side but intimate enough for drinks and winding down. A spiral staircase leads you to the restaurant with its clean and simple decor. Booths and tables are spaced far enough to engage in conversation and some overlook Fifth Avenue. Felipe, our server, was great in taking care of us: attentive and eyeful of our needs. There was a guitarist playing which added to the ambiance along with adequate lighting and comfortable seating. But the food--some of the best yet! Fresh and tasty, particularly with the seafood entrees we ordered. Fresh veggies, delicious appetizers and desserts to die for...what a find! A must try!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFun and reasonable on 5thIt was a welcome change. Fun and reasonable on 5th4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed our dinner.Really enjoyed our dinner. One small criticism is that you were out of Sancerre which was still listed on the menu and the glass of Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) that I did order was not served at the proper temperature. While I understand that it shouldn't be ice cold, it should also not be on its way to warm. Otherwise, I had a very good experience.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWow food!!!The best food I have eaten in NYC in the past
Year! Is $$$ for prices.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTry it, you will like it!Try it, you will like it! I think NY will be surprised by the quality of the food here. A great, diverse menu. The kids menu is fabulous. My 2 little foodies swear this is the best mac & cheese they have ever had- and Mom and Dad have to agree. It's rare to find a place where kids and parents can both really enjoy the food. Drink menu is fab also.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectly tropical in NYC!What a pleasure to find a little bit of the tropics on 5th Avenue! I'm a huge Tommy Bahama fan and make a point to visit the restaurant in Naples, Florida when I visit there, so I was really happy about it arriving close to home! And I was not disappointed! The decor is tropically lovely and the place smells so wonderful! The food was excellent from appetizer to dessert and the drinks were fantastic! It was hard to leave and head back out into the chilly NY night! I will definitely be back. Oh, and our server, Ronald, was so fun and never rushed us.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place. A nice menu -Fun place. A nice menu - with separate sections for vegetarian and gluten sensitive. Our waiter was great, the food was very good, and the setting is tropical and fun. Of course, the mojitos were excellent. If you are looking for something different, give this place a try. A tropica oasis in the center of Manhattan.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOUtstanding find.....After watching a broadway play, my friends and I decided to try Tommy Bahama and we weren't disappointed. The atmosphere made you feel like you were on vacation. Our waiter, Ephraim, was exceptional. He gave excellent drink and menu recommendations. We enjoyed our meal from the appetizers to the dessert. Would definitely go again. Highly recommend it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA really fun place with excellentA really fun place with excellent food and service. Very accomadating as our group started out as 5 and soon grew to 8!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best Tommy B's yet!We have made it a mission to visit as many Tommy Bahama's as we can and were delighted on a recent trip to discover one in NYC! As always the food was great, but the ambiance at this restaurant was especially good, whilst still remaining child friendly. We would definitely recommend a visit for those of you that want something a little bit special.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom PA, we spent the dayFrom PA, we spent the day in NYC to celebrate my husband's birthday and then lunch at TB. From Beverly in the Marlin bar to Gabbi our server, everyone was congenial, place was impeccable and the food was delicious. Didn't disappoint and everyone had a great time.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian friendlyReally appreciate the separate vegetarian menu. This is a rarity among restaurants. The dishes we selected were tasty although the service was a little spotty.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNice "island feel" restaurantIt's a new restaurant that opened around December 2012. The place even has a clothing store on the bottom level which made it a but confusing to find the entrance to the restaurant, but once we found it I was amazed at how beautiful the restaurant is. The staff were excellent and very friendly, food was great, great ambiance, and decent prices too.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place makes you feelThis place makes you feel like you are in Hawaii! Beautiful tropical atmosphere and great food.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMChill atmsphere, well decoratedChill atmsphere, well decorated - tasteful. Creative bar drinks that were nicely done. Food was quite good. A range of options for most palates. Kitchen team exhibited creativity and produced high quality dishes. Was impressed. Value was good - though prices were high, portions were not bad. Very much enjoyed the experience and would return.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMour waiter i believe his nameour waiter i believe his name was phillipe was awesome. there were 5 of us women and he was attentive and very personable.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleasantly surprisedWe were pleasantly surprised about the exhuberance of the staff. You could tell they were happy working in this environment. The menu has good variety, preparation & presentation very individualistic so did not appear at all like a typical chain. Also a nice variey of unique drinks. My grapefruit & basil martini was excellent. I usually frequent smaller boutique restaurants but Tommy Bahama is on my "return to" list.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVaried menu, something for everyoneGood varied menu, fish, steal, pork, chicken, this place has it all so it's great for a group of varied palettes. Most dishes have a Caribbean twist with touches of mango, lime etc. we all very much enjoyed our meals. Clean plates all around and that was impressive as the portions are large.
There was a very loud (obnoxious) group on the bar area. Not sure if there was a happy hour going on or just early drunkards? The host was quick to get us seated at our table and away from them, which we appreciated. Our server started off a bit caustic, but warmed up as the meal went on.
Overall this was great! I'd return. The varied menu was the winning ticket for a group of people getting to know one another, there was something for everyone3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI took clients out to lunchI took clients out to lunch and they were very impressed by the staff and variety on the menu. the staff were very helpful. they are looking forward to having lunch their again.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed everything from theEnjoyed everything from the drinks to dessert. The waitress made recommendations that were dead on. The selection was broad and the food was loaded with flavor. The kids menu was filled with many entrees to choose from. Atmosphere was comfortable and quiet because there was plenty of space between tables.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI dined with a party of 4,I dined with a party of 4, and we had a very good time. Food and waiter were excellent. Only thing that detracted from our experience was slow service with our appetizers and entrees. The Manager was very accommodating and paid for our appetizers. Classy gesture. We will definitely return.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat table spacing - senseGreat table spacing - sense of privacy even in open space because tables weren't so crowded.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch at Tommy BahamaWe had lunch at Tommy Bahama on Saturday. The decor is refreshing, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We'd eaten in other Tommy Bahama restaurants and we were pleased with our experience in New York.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI got a gift certificate fromI got a gift certificate from my work, so I took my mom out to dinner here. The prices were surprising reasonable, our waitress was amazing, the food was great and my Dark & Stormy was awesome! Highly recommended! There was live music playing, which both my mom and I enjoyed.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a GemAbsolutely lovely dinner. Not going to lie, we went here because we had gotten a gift certificate from when a friend went to their opening. We were completely taken by surprise. If you are not into themes, this place would not be for you, it's like being transformed from 5th avenue to a tropical beach and everything from the bar to the menu to the servers is themed as such. However, the food was simple but outstanding. I would recommend the sangria (they put brandy in it which to me is a must!), coconut shrimp and fish tacos. The short ribs was also phenomenal and cooked perfectly. I am not usually into chain-y, theme type restaurants but if you're looking for something different in the city, I would check it out!1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
