We were from out of town and found Tombo through our Open Table app. We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food and excellent service. We enjoyed Scottish Salmon, trout, and meatloaf all prepared in unique and delicious ways. We liked it so much that we ate two of our three dinners in Columbia here. Highly recommend for people wanting a quiet, delicious dinner prepared with locally grown foods.

Service was great. Food was not good. Tasteless dish, to much vinegar in the salad dressing. Daughter ordered a meatloaf that was dry. Ordered a "special of the night" maybe I should have ordered dish from your regular menu. Appetizer was good. Nice art on the walls. Drunk and loud people at the bar. Waiter told us all the vegetables were local and fresh, which I found very appealing. Presentation of the food was very attractive. However, the food was not flavorful. Ordinary...just okay. Did not finish our food. Was not worth what we spent by.... no means.

Our first visit. We were on our way to a concert, so I had made reservations. We were seated immediately, good spot out of traffic. Our food was good, 3 ordered beef brisket and 1 trout. They were a little slow coming, especially since the brisket was a "special" that night. They were "out" of my original selection (6:00 on a Wed. evening?). Patrons were older, 50 and up, mainly at the bar - it seems like a nice neighborhood place to kick back. $22.00/plate, no salad or vegetable included.

Tombo used to be great, but our dinner was "off." We were excited because the short rib appetizer and bread were fantastic. After that, though, we were served warm wine, and my entree (brisket) was tough and poorly presented. My husband's pork chop was perfect, but his sides were nothing special. I used to be able go to go Tombo and get a great meal every time, but this was not one of them. We both felt like it was a mediocre experience, so we skipped trying out the dessert

The specials at Tombo focus on local in-season ingredients. Some of the specials last week were duck confit, heirloom tomato caprese, Brunswick stew, and a grilled trout special served with black beans and tomatoes. Our party enjoyed all. The duck was slightly crispy served with a mushroom sauce...very good. The heirloom caprese was very flavorful and grilled shrimp was added to make that an entrée. There is an ample selection of wines. The prices are very good, especially when compared to Charleston...where we live now. Service is always excellent...Jake was our server. Tombo is definitely one of the best in Columbia.

Tombo Grille is one of the top five restaurants in the city. Few can match it's light yet somewhat romantic ambiance. From Crabcakes to steak whoever does the 'cooking' here knows how to cook and present. Too bad I live on the opposite side of town. A well kept secret from the city at large but well worth the visit. Oh, best Stoli martini's in this city.

We had a great time recently celebrating a friend's retirement with great food and wine and the music of George Fulton and the Flat Out Strangers. The Tombo crew, as always, made the occasion very special. The food is consistently good, no matter how big the crowd. The salmon and filets are favorites, along with local fish and shellfish. Vegetables and sauces are a treat unto themselves. Of course, dessert is tops, if you save room. or they will box up your leftovers, if you are fortunate enough to have any.

Tombo Grill falls beautifully between the very upscale offerings and the good, but average, restaurants in our community. The food is quite good. The regular menu is limited, but there are always excellent specials you can try. In addition, the regular items cover a range of tastes to suit almost everyone. We also like the size of the restaurant, not too big. We always see people we know there. It has a good neighborly feel to it.

We are so fortunate to have Tombo Grille right around the corner. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere are ALWAYS excellent. Tombo Grille is a happening place for folks from throughout the Midlands. The owners and staff have become dear friends who welcome us and our friends at least once a week. They host some great musicians, and their live music nights are always packed. Food favorites: softshell crab (in season), duck confit, S.C. shrimp and Atlantic salmon. Plus local greens, interesting vegetables, featured wines and more.
