Diner Reviews
  • "While the ambience is certainly Spartan and more country and western than Italian, the food was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. Good experience."

  • "It never seems to amaze me, the service, food and pleasant staff. I have eaten here many, many times and have never experienced any issue. Exceptional. A must visit while in Phoenix. A true Italian restaurant with true Italian food and staff. I visit Italy 3-4.times a year and will put this food up against any meal I have even had in my home land."

  • "My husband ordered the lasagna and he says it was the 'best ever'. My meal was equally as good. Would make it one of our regular dining spots, but we are from out of town."

  • "Went to Tomasos for a business dinner. The food was fine. Good variety and tasty. Problem was the waiter. He really didn't respond to his customers. Half of our table were French but he talked fast, made strange "jokes" and made it hard for them - asked for a drivers licence when one diner asked for Iced tea and so confused the guy he changed his order to a beer. Then the wiater brought me an iced tea. . He aslo disappeared for long periods"

  • "Great as always. They made a special dish for my wife as they do every year, the clopino a la diavolo extra spicy. They found out it was our anniversary and brought out a great tira misu desert for us to celebrate. Great service, great food, very romantic we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic spot!"

  • "We truly enjoyed our dinner Friday night at Tomaso's. We are "regulars" these days, as the food is so good and so varied that one can always find a new and delicious dish on the extensive menu. Service was excellent, as always, and we still consider Tomaso's to be our favorite restaurant in the Valley of the Sun."

  • "If not, this must be really close. Caprese with fresh mozza to start then choose between great pasta or great fish/meat - eggplant torte with butternut squash ravioli - outstanding. Had bomb for dessert - pistachio added great taste - reasonably priced wines - outstanding evening - if in Phoenix head for here."

  • "The food achieves the highest excellence. We appreciated the Italian speaking, qualified service. There was activity, but the noise was kept low, which made the experience comfortable. It is nice the place has been around, yet still maintains such a high level. The atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately I was highly disappointed by some of the crude and inappropriate intimate art pieces. That should not be necessary."

  • "We are staying nearby and wanted a family friendly authentic Italian restaurant. This was perfect. My kids were able to split an entree. The service was fabulous."

  • "Tomaso's was the perfect spot for a last minute romantic dinner. The ambience was great, the food was amazing, and the waitstaff was on top of everything. It was busy, but the service was still on par with higher-class eateries. Even with a party of about 20 sitting next to us, our server was attentive and we did not have to look around for him, except for my coffee at the end of the meal. I definitely recommend Tomaso's to anyone who was a stellar Italian dinner with that special someone where you can get in and out with 3 glasses of wine for $100+tip. :)"

  • "Had a great Valentines Diner with my wife! Food was great! Waited over 30 minutes for our reservation, and bar was slow and ran out of glasses so we were seated before our drink order arrived. Waiter also brought me the wrong entree for my meal. But attended to the mix up fast and efficiently! Overall food was great service was OK. Would go back because food and overall experience was great!"

  • "The menu and wine list were outstanding. The servers were hard to understand. They were also very slow to touch base with out table and smelled very very strongly of cigarette smoke."

  • "I took 4 couples here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our server, Oscar, was excellent. The food was very good, we had everything from pasta to seafood to steak, everything was notable. Bill for 10 people which included 3 bottles of wine and a couple of whiskeys was $750.00 so prices are very reasonable. The place was quite busy and got a little warm, understandable as we are having an unseasonably warm winter, but they turned the air conditioning on and it cooled off in minutes. Overall great time."

  • "This was a special night out after a parent child dance and I wanted to have a special dinner with my son. The staff was attentive from when we entered until we left. The veal, seafood and pasta were perfection. The lobster bisque was better than any we have eaten in San Diego."

  • "The food is always superb and the service is even better. Staffed by professional waiters who know their craft, not a random collection of young people in transition. This place has stood the test of time because they do what all great restaurants do - serve fantastic food with impeccable service. Bravo, Tomaso's!"

  • "We experienced one of Phoenix's gems, Tomaso's, Friday night for my husband's bday. It was so delicious! Our lovely server, Joe delivered up a wonderful dining experience for us. From the antipasti to the lamb and seafood, the meal was superb. It was a great choice and we'd go back again in a minute. Highly recommended for an authentic Italian treat."

  • "We dined at Tomaso's on the evening of January 1. Many restaurants are weary on this date, after the holiday rush. Not so with Tomaso's. The staff was attentive, and the food inspired. The sea bass brodetto was wonderful. It included grouper filled ravioli. The tagliatelle with bolognese was also a star entree. We read that this restaurant has been around for many years. For us Californians, it was a wonderful find!!"

  • "our meal was very good, service was terrific, I highly recommend it."

  • "The food was good, but the service left alot to be desired. The food is not good enough to offset that also. I would expect slow and bad service at a chain place, but not here. Nothing else to say about this place. I skpped dessert just to get out of there."

  • "We had New Years Eve dinner at Tomaso's. The restaurant is a staple in metro Phoenix and if you haven't been there yet it is worth the trip. Authentic Italian plates, great wine list, solid service, all in a great location."

  • "More outstanding meals; Tomaso's never disappoints us. Enjoy introducing friends to this neighborhood treasure."

  • "We visited the restaurant for the first time on Sunday. The service was excellent. The waiter was knowledgeable and very friendly. We enjoyed talking to him. He recommended a wine and the wine was outstanding and the atmosphere was romantic. We thought the food was good. My food had a little to much salt for my tasting, but good. The presentation was good also. Here again, I would say not outstanding but good. Will we go back probably not. It was good but not one of our favorites."

  • "Very dissapointing. Hadn't been to Tomaso's in about a year and was looking forward to it. Soups were good but the entrees lacked flavor. The veal medallions were way overcooked and the bolognese was incredibly dry. Too many other good choices at $150 so we won't be back."

  • "My Canadian parents spend their winters in Phoenix. I was there on business and took advantage of the opportunity to take them out for dinner. The place was recommended by the concierge at the Biltmore Hotel where I was staying and they could not have been more accurate. The service and food were top notch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and in fact I already have to many."

  • "I had the New York strip steak which was excellent. The Caesar salad was very tasty. the cocktails and wine were very good as well. We plan to return frequently!"

  • "Had high hopes for this place. Server was a bit cold and very absent. Took him almost 45 minutes to bring the check, even after being asked. Food is ok. They say seafood is fresh but it does not taste like it. Pasta was over cooked and over salted. Ehh I would skip it."
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "Service was first class. Food excellent. Had the sea bass. They did not rush us to try and turn the table. Perfect place for a business lunch."

  • "Delicious food throughout the courses. Beautifully presented and extremely tasty."

  • "The Thanksgiving dinner was very well done. We had the traditional meal, cooked with a bit of flair. We didn't try any of the typical Italian dishes on the menu, except for the salmon carpaccio starter--excellent!. The restaurant staff was warm, welcoming and very accommodating. We would recommend the restaurant for the service alone, and the food was also very good."

  • "We come to Phoenix often for business and while this restaurant is less than a mile from where we stay this was our first visit. The pasta is homemade, the sauces rich but light, the wine list enticing, the veal tender and the service attentive but not intrusive. Tomaso chatted with us and over all, I felt like I was back in Palermo which is where Tomaso is from. A gem and we will return!"
