  • "Hostess friendly, efficient and smiling. Initially overlooked but quickly had a great gentleman along with a trainee. Apologized for not being attended to immediately. Excellent service the rest of the night. Food on 1-10 scale, 8.5. Sat. night and very busy. Beautiful view of SD skyline and bay. Even though the noise level was more than anticipated, it did not interfere with our own quiet conversation and quickly became just background voices that was of no consequence. One of our favorite San Diego restaurants, easy to get to and large parking lot plus ample parking on the street. A great place to bring friends, family and business associates. Wonderful martinis.. Have been dining at Tom Ham's for decades. Returning very soon."

  • "The view is fantastic, of course. Since the renovation, the outdoor dining is a big plus for lunch on the weekend. The wait staff is always very good. Our ceviche had zero avocado in it, even though the menu includes it. It was delicious anyway, but we missed the fresh avocado. The raw bar menu is too pricey, and our waiter said things were steamed that were actually all raw - the menu should not say "seafood," it should say "raw bar." The lunch menu is still a bit of a disappointment, Some better fresh seafood choices would be great. It's an odd menu. Still, I love this place, and the renovation is great. The bar area is really nice and gorgeous for drinks while watching the sun set behind the city."

  • "Gave us a very nice table with a gorgeous view. The service was fast and friendly, with perfect balance between checking up on the table and giving you time to enjoy/talk. The food was fresh and well-prepared, especially the fish. Seemed just grilled with olive oil, salt and lemon, which we prefer over thicker, strong-flavored sauces. Shared salad and fried calamari as appetizers and chose red snapper and swordfish (catch of the day) for entrees. In the range of $75 per person with a bottle of white wine. Good place to catch up with an old friend. Really enjoyed it."

The views of the downtown skyline are spectacular and we were celebrating three birthdays and a 48th Wedding Anniversary and I wanted to thank our server Ricardo providing excellent customer service and we look forward to dining at Tom Hams Lighthouse soon."

  • "We were completely disappointed at the ambience of the restaurant. There was none. Only a cold room.with a few tables and chairs and booths with no candles or any other form of making the room inviting. Terrible waiter who said "what" about 10 times whenever we attempted to order something. Our dinner arrived an hour and a half after we arrived and it only arrived at that time after numerous requests for our dinner from the manager who expressed his apologies and gave us a desert on the house. Two of the meals were great and two were terrible. 4 scalllops with a bit of pasta for $34.00 and the salad with salmon was not edible. I would not recommend this restarant to anyone."

  • "Sunday brunch is extremely popular at Tom Hams so be sure to reserve weeks ahead of time. We got there slightly ahead of our reservation time and immediately were shown to an outdoor table overlooking the water, even though we hadn't specifically reserved a water-view table. Even though it's outside there are great heaters that made it very comfortable on an overcast day. The seafood variety is excellent, and the made-to-order omelets are very nice as well. The other breakfast items, such as sausage, potatoes, and waffles are good but not special. Finally, the little desserts are very nice. The waiter was quite attentive about bringing drinks and clearing away various seafood shells. Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable experience."

  • "We try to go to this brunch every 4-5 weeks. It is consistently excellent! Fabulous cold seafood bar. Best beef rib roast. Wait staff is friendly and prompt with dish removal and drink refills. Plan ahead and make a reservation. They fill up fast."

  • "Start with the Persimmion and Burrata salad. It is big enough to share but you may just want to eat the whole thing yourself. I had the chicken for dinner and it was very good. My husband had a lamb special for the evening which he also enjoyed. Will try for brunch next time since it's highly recommended."

  • "The newly renovated Tom Ham's Lighthouse is the perfect place to bring people to give them the 'wow' factor of the San Diego skyline, especially at night. The food is good but two of our three meat entrees were overcooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. Our server Ramona is the type of server that every place would love to have working for them. She was on top of everything and right away she saw that our meat entrees were not of the desired wellness. She quickly took care of the situation and was a pleasure to have as a server all evening long. The view is stunning and the facility is open but not overly loud. The harbor theme is well evident but not over-the-top. Lovely place to take a date or business associates from out of town."

  • "This was my second time dining here and I was even more impressed this time. There were 4 of us having dinner at Tom Hams for a celebration and everyone loved it. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, starting with making the reservation and even ensuring we were at a window table with a magnificent view of downtown SD and the harbor. The food was well-prepared, fresh, and delicious. It's definitely pricey but well worth every penny - highly recommend!"

  • "Lovely views of the city skyline over the water. Food was wonderful. Great ambience. The only downside of our experience was the server. She could not have been less interested in being there. Before you wonder if we were difficult or demanding customers, let me assure you we weren't. Between her lack of eye contact, inappropriate facial expressions, and lack of personality, it actually became amusing to us to see how she would outdo herself with each visit to the table. I would go back for all of the wonderful aspects of this restaurant but I wouldn't hesitate to ask for a different server if this young lady was again put upon to have to service our table."

  • "Service, wine and food were excellent. I had yellowtail and my husband had scallops - both were great. We sat outside with heaters on - very comfortable and the view was beautiful. Music from the wedding downstairs was extremely annoying. Our server mentioned it to the manager who talked to the dj; they rearranged speakers and everything improved drastically. We hope to return this evening with guests!"

They were not at all busy - Our waitress was extremely friendly, informative and we went with some of her suggestions. The swordfish was delicious, the scallops were quite good and the seabass was excellent as well. All told it was a great evening."

  • "The added outdoor dining, service & panoramic view of the city across the bay at sunset is magnificent. Our party (5) overall review - very good. Positive: the cheese plate and provided bread were excellent, the spiced pear salad was tasty and the scallops delicious.. Mixed feelings:surf and turf - prawns were perfectly prepared but the accompanying steak was tough. The Lobster Bisque uneventful (too spicy - need to mellow the flavor and add actual lobster pieces). On a less favorable note; my wife and I had the aged New York steak and it was very tough (Donovans, Albies, Butcher Shop or Hunters serve a much better aged steak). I would not go back for their steaks, but would bring out-of-town family for a sunset seafood dining experience."

  • "Tom Hams Lighthouse really impressed me and my wife. We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary with them and they certainly made it a meal and night to remember. Our waiter was incredible! He knew the menu inside and out and helped to guide us towards the dishes he thought would satisfy our tastes. We started our meal with their delicious Cracker Bread. For appetizers we had lobster bisque and calamari which came with an amazing honey lime chili dipping sauce. For the main course I had the Lobster Bouillabaisse and my wife had the Sea Scallops with a side of asparagus. Our portions were really generous and the staff even topped off our meal with a complimentary Italian berry dessert which was delicious."

  • "Service was best we have had in a while. Usually feel like I forget the waitperson if they have done a good job. In this case, we felt like she was part of our experience and we liked her. Duck and the Scallops were phenomenal. And of course, the view is always the best. Did I mention that I love the facelift they have done?"
