We are Alberta's largest and most beautiful steak house. Tom Goodchild's Moose Factory stretches over 20,000 square feet with a seating capacity of over 700 dining room, lounge, banquet room, and patio combined.
This location has built its reputation on the Sawmill formula. Serving over half a dozen different cuts and sizes of "AAA" Alberta beef one can't go wrong ordering any one style. The Moose Factory has become known for many unique qualities like it's luncheon buffet Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. which attracts the busy luncheon crowd with dozens of salads and an array of hot items to choose from daily.

  • "I mentioned that the reservation was for a 20th anniversary and this was clearly communicated to the wait staff. We were greeted promptly and seated at a quiet table away from other diners (restaurant was quiet anyway). We were served by a very professional waitress who had all the patience in the world. Unfortunately the food was only so-so. Sinewy beef on the Reuben and rubbery calamari. Not terrible, just not great."

  • "So it turns out if u want to order off the lounge menu and r seated in the restraunt it is a 5 dollar extra fee per person. All I wanted was a beef dip and believe me if we didn't have the baby with us we would have sat in the lounge. Also ridiculous to order a steak and all that comes on your plate is a steak. You pay more for every side you want. On the plus side my taco salad was delish, beef dip delish and cheese plate delish. If your not eating off the lounge menu don't go.... Waste of moo lag folks!"

  • "Usually our experience at the moose factory is amazing and fantastic. I brought a group there on Saturday, most of which had never been there before. Our service was terrible, especially for a large group with a $600 tab. Not sure if the automatic 18% gratuity = I'm getting it anyway so I don't need to raise the bar with my level of service? But our service was less then what I experienced at Earls earlier that day! Usually the service at the MF Is fantastic. As it should be for a pricier establishment. Additionally, we had made a reservation in advance and out table was not ready when we arrived. We had to wait 15 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated."

  • "Took my Girl there for her 50th Birthday, had flowers at the table waiting for us. Table was next to the fire place which just a great touch that the Moose Factory does for their customers. Waitress greeted us with a Happy Birthday as we arrived to the table. Food was simply amazing as we talked about how good the meal was the whole night. Just simply amazing night for her. Thank you Moose Factory you made the evening for her on her special night."

  • "The food was average for a steakhouse, waiter was far to obviously trained to upsell add ons and recommendations mostly focused on the lady of the table. Our food was brought out and placed on a bar 6 feet from us then brought by a waiter 5 minutes later...buffet night and not busy...really? Drinks were kept full by helping attendants, food tasted pretty good though."

  • "I can't say they didn't try. We came back after a year of not being there and left with the same feeling as last time, my wife summed it up best " we keep coming back hoping it gets better than the last time..... But not to be" . Steaks showed up cold, tasteless and not cooked correct, ( they did replace it but came back undercooked and who want to be the guy eating when everyone else is done) and the server tried her best to make it right but the overall night fell short of our expectations. Tommy Goodchild's was once a go to standard for a good steak and higher standard of a night out but that status has slipped away over the past while sooooo....... Maybe see you next year."

  • "Requested a table near the door as elderly Mum on O2. Led all the way through to the back door by which time Mum was gasping. Took a while for her to recover which is always unpleasant. Side dishes come for 2 people....not 1!!!! Bizarre!! One person at our table didn't have a steak because of this. We were there at 5:30 and waited an hour for our meal. I ordered a gin and tonic tall and it came short with a lime in it!!! G&T ALWAYS come with lemon!! This will be our last visit."

  • "This visit things were much better than last time. We did have some interaction with the Night Manager and were put straight about a few things that we were misled about in the past by staff regarding their oil and gluten free french fries. Apparently their oil is not dedicated which is what we were told in the past. That could explain why I (Barb) have become ill after eating their. However all is great now that we know better. When you know better you do better. :)"

  • "We have been to the Moose Factory many times and have always had excellent service and food. This time, the service was still excellent, but the food left something to be desired. We both had the sirloin steak. My wife's steak was between rare and medium rare; she had ordered medium. Both our steaks were quite tough. I realize that sirloin is not the most tender steak, but we have had it a number of times before and it has always been very good."

  • "This was the first and last I will ever go to Tom Goodchilds Moose Factory. The atmosphere was very noisy not a great place for a date night or special occasion for a couple. I wish I had known it was buffet night I would never have booked my reservation. My steak had no taste and had a very charcoal taste. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a steak. Maybe to families looking to save a buck on buffet but for fine dining this is a big no. I had to order my sides which came in the form of for two. A lot of food wasted. I will stay away."

  • "Had family in from out of town, we decided to go to the moose factory. We had reserved our table, which was ready when we arrived. All 4 of us decided on the special buffet, the food was ok. I was expecting something more for the price. Service was terrible, took forever to get water refills, the drinks tasted water down and they charged for pop refills. For a $130+ price tag for 4 people it was not worth it."

  • "Went to Moose Factory for the 1st time ever for Valentine's Day with my wife. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was more than happy with my experience there. The restaurant is quite large from what I could gather, and for people celebrating Valentine's Day, we were all in the same area. Our waiter was decent, but I also think new to the job. The drink menu was exceptional. Lots of varieties there, and the prices weren't outrageous. I'm not a wine person, but the wine selection was one of the larger ones I've seen in a restaurant. The food was incredible. Made as requested and my wife and I left feeling very full, and we didn't even get dessert. I will be attending again!"

  • "My wife and I were confused about the steaks and the side choices. It said "serves two" so that meant we had to choose the same sides. We have different tastes. We settled on baked potato (she wanted mashed) and she took the double order of beans. I could handle choosing my own sides for my own meal but trying to choose the same as my wife??? And what if you are by yourself or had an odd number in your group? This is stupid. In my opinion whoever thought this idea up deserves the "Idiot Idea" award. We will not be back until they change this. Would rather get a good meal at the Keg; they let you choose what you want."

It was nice to be able to carry on a conversation without yelling. The food took a rather long time to arrive considering we were the only table in the place when our order was taken. The service was good and the food tasted fine. Neither horribly bad nor exquisitely good. It was just right."

  • "Server was extremely slow (took 20 mins to bring buns after drink order, very long to check back, long to clear table, long wait for bill), Sirloin steak was cooked med. but extremely tough- took long to chew, veiny), chrged for 9 oz wine, did not ask for 9 oz nor was it an option on the menu, overall ok for the Monday value but, food quality and service a fail. Would not return or recommend"

  • "Went for dinner on Saturday night and made reservations. It took approximately 15 to 20 min for a waiter to come and take our drink order. My fiance and I thought we were forgotten. When he did he seemed like he could barely speak English so we placed our dinner and drink order at one time. The calamari was rubbery. I had steak with scallops/ shrimp and the seafood was all tough to chew. The steaks we had were ok as was the garlic mashed potatoes and the veggies. But just ok. The Keg for this same meal is much better. For the price the food and service was disappointing. The breakfast buffet is definitely the way to go and I do not think we would come back for dinner."

  • "We used to love this restaurant but have not eaten there for a couple of years. It appears the menu has changed since then, if you order the 'Prime Cuts ' they do not come with any sides - just the meat. Unfortunately all of the sides are for two people so you have to find someone at the table that would like to share the same side. The most disappointing part was the presentation of the meal, our steaks came on a plate - JUST THE MEAT - no garnish or anything. The sides then came on separate plates, so I received a plain baked potato in a dish that looked extremely unappetizing. Service was great."

  • "This occasion I happened to order the surf and turf meal. The steak was cooked correctly and was very tender but was also very bland but hey that's what steak sauce is for, even though I never use it anywhere else. My biggest disappointment was the lobster and prawns as this was supposed to be the nice adder. However my lobster was cold, dry and stale on the edges like it sat under a heat lamp all day and then the light burnt out. The prawns were bland, cold and were like a jerky. Again not what I was looking for when I decided to put on the nice adder. I think my wife and I will be exploring other venues for awhile. The cake and service however were top notch"

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant there was no one at the front. I waited at least 5-10 minutes wondering if there was a bell I could ring. The food was good, the special for the night was surf and turf, the steak better than the seafood. It was the service that was disappointing. When I booked on open table I mentioned we were celebrating my mother's 80th birthday and the put us beside a young group of 16-20 people that were celebrating as well. Unfortunately it was really loud! We had two waiters so service was a bit disjointed. They were happy to move us but once moved they totally forgot about us. Service was very poor. We have been there before and had a wonderful time."

My lobster tail was boot leather tough. My steak was meh. Nothing special. King crab was still slightly frozen. Most meals ordered were left unfinished . Never going back. This place is not what it used to be."

  • "We made our reservations for an early dinner. I found the restaurant to quiet but with the table set up I found it very crowded. The waitress always seemed to be side stepping the chairs to get to our table. The menu selection was ok but the steaks were not really cooked to our request but we ate them anyway. If someone asks how it is and would I recommend the restaurant I will be honest and give them my opinion and let them make the choice. I cannot openly recommend it."

  • "I have visited The Moose Factory on a number of occasions, but not recently, and have always been satisfied with the food and service. On my last visit this week, the food was again, very good. The service though was less than desirable. The food for our party of three did not all come out together, and one of the side orders did arrive until we were almost done the main course. It seems that there was a large presence of New Canadians and Immigrant servers now working at the Moose Factory, and they struggled with the English Language."
