I went with 2 of my girlfriends. We were seated at a table that was not my favorite but the host gladly moved us and gave us a fun booth in the bar. We had the best waiter, Hector, he was awesome! The food was great....the ceviche was delicious and the truffle quesadillas were too. The guacamole needed more zip but good. The tequila Hector recommended was amazing. We couldn't have been more pleased. The wine, the food, the service and the decor were all fantastic. Make sure you try the cod; it's to die for. Sometimes hard to reserve at the last minute, but it is a small space. This place is packed, packed, all the time, and with good reason. This gourmet Mexican has you talking the next morning about how fabulous the food was. This is no "mess of rice and beans" place. This is the home of perfectly cooked and seasoned skirt steak, the best brussels sprouts I've ever had, and a gorgeous melt-in-your-mouth cod that I can't wait to have again. I had first found Toloache in the West 50s, near my office. Was thrilled when the tired Le Refuge closed and Toloache "Upper East" opened in its place on E. 82nd.
