  • "I booked my best friends Bachelorette party dinner here and the wine list didn't have miscotto, the sodas were 3 bucks, so we all ended up just drinking water. Then when we looked at the very tiny dinner menu we realized the bar menu was different but you had to be at the bar for that one. So after looking at the dinner menu we all ordered the shrimp mac n cheese which was very oily and huge, like it could feed two people. Then the waiter was MIA the whole time and not very informative or friendly he pretty much just took the orders, brought the food, and took the money. All in all I would never go back"

  • "I often need to schedule lunch meetings in NoMa, and get stuck at the same old spots - Au Bon Pain, Roti, etc. Finding a place that's not fast food / fast casual there has always been a challenge... so I was glad to find Todd Gray's. Opentable was the 1st time I'd heard of it, and finding it physically seemed like coming upon a secret, too. There was nothing street level to indicate the restaurant was there, and had I not known it was in the Hilton Garden Inn, I'd have missed it altogether. Menu was limited, and buffet was almost ridiculously sparse. My crabcake sandwich, however, was tasty, and others raved about the fries. The bourbon desert was great. Decor and service was what you'd expect from a hotel lunch spot - meh at best."

  • "Welllllllll. This restaurant is connected to a hotel...and it feels like it. It was like dining in the cheesy hotel bar, decor and all. The food was ok at best. It was late but they didn't serve the food as advertised. The Caramelized Brussel Sprouts were simply boiled (blech) and lightly salted. I can do that at home. The the salmon and celery purée were a little bland. And lastly, the gumbo. Smh. "How does one mess that up?", you ask. By scorching the roux. It was edible...or I should just say I ate it. Sighhhhh."

  • "Wonderful food in rather strange place, a Hilton Garden Inn that is difficult to get to because of construction and torn up and one-way streets. Worth the effort however, We went early for a pre-theatre dinner and were the only customers. Because of that, service could have been a bit more attentive and we should not have had to ask for the bill twice. But food was of the quality one has come to expect from Todd Gray."

  • "As a cardinal rule, if you put your name in the title, then it is fair to assume that it will be same caliber as your other restaurants. This visit was very disappointing. The beans were undercooked, fish was boring, there was nothing about the food that was regional or interesting. On the service front, our server came to our table after 10 minutes and asked if anyone had waited on us and then it was downhill from there. Overall, I was embarrassed that I selected the restaurant for a business dinner."

  • "I have worked in what is now known as the NoMa neighborhood for close to 20 years, and it is only now home to several nicer restaurants. Todd Gray's Watershed is a great addition to the area, and it's one of only a few restaurants of downtown quality. I met a long-time former co-worker there for a "catching up" luncheon, and we both enjoyed our meals. I had the Seafood Club Sandwich. I found that the fried fish was too dry for my taste, and the bacon was over-done, but the fries were hot and delicious. I finished with the mango sorbet, which was quite good. Service was excellent, and the ambience is very pleasant. Even though the restaurant isn't large, when the large center tables fill up, it can get noisy. Overall, very pleasant!"

We have dined all over the country and would place this restaurant at the top of our list for fine dining, great wine selections, excellent service and ambience. We are already discussing making plans to visit this restaurant next New Year's Eve."

  • "There's nothing outstanding about this restaurant that would entice you to come if you weren't staying at the hotel (which we were not but it was close to a venue we were headed to). That said, it was fine as far as a typical hotel restaurant goes. The food was good ; not great. Our waitress was lovely. It was one day after Thanksgiving and they were blasting Christmas music which really changed the mood/vibe of the dining room so you felt like you were in a mall instead. I don't ever see a need to come again and probably won't."

  • "Took a client to lunch here -- chic and pleasing decor and the wait staff was wonderful. My client had previously ordered the Tuna Loin salad but they had been out of tuna so we both decided to give it a try...and they were out of tuna again at 12:30! My client substituted salmon and was very happy with his salad. I decided to go for the Watershed Cobb salad and was a bit disappointed -- only 3 medium sized shrimp and while the greens were very fresh and overall it was tasty, I'm not a big fan of frisee greens. My colleague had Pulled Chicken Sandwich and was happy. I would definately give this restaurant - and the Tuna Loin salad another try though. And I'll ask a few more questions about how a dish is prepared."

  • "The dining spaces — in and out — were beautifully appointed. However, the service left much to be desired. It took the server forever to take our orders and we couldn't understand why seeing as the dining space was pretty empty — only two other tables were occupied. The server was nice, but it just took too long for everything — and I do mean everything to get done. The wait for the food was slightly longer than typical, but we were having so much fun laughing, talking, catching up that we barely noticed. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS — though it was A LOT of grits for one person to tackle. The salmon was good. If you like bourbon, get the bourbon pecan pie because it is loaded with it. They accommodated dietary restrictions, too."

  • "We had high hopes based on other folks reviews of this establishment. It was new(ish) and in an area of DC we don't get into much so we took a flyer on something new. Hoping for good seafood dishes we ordered the halibut and crab cake entrees along with a starter called skipjack chips. The crabcakes were the highlight of the meal. Two good, if slightly small, crabcackes with a creative side were the highlight of the evening. The halibut came out cooked to perfection. However, they applied so much pepper to the halibut (just too much black pepper) you couldn't taste the fish. This wasn't a "blackened" or "spicy" preparation it was simply poached halibut. We had to send it back because it was inedible."

  • "The restaurant had a nice setting with a hotel inspired contemporary decor. After being seated and looking over the menu, the server took our orders. I would guess it wasnt about a half hour later until our food was served. Some of the plates were cold and the food was underwhelming. Sadly, after everyone at my table was served, the server asked me if I had placed an order. (Yes I did) They forgot to put in my order and I had to wait another fifteen minutes until my lunch was served. I am not sure if this was because there was another large party next to us but our drinks were not refilled frequently unless we asked and it was just an unimpressive experience."

  • "We met friends who just were displaced by a fire in their home in DC. They needed a break. We enjoyed everything about the Watershed. The deviled eggs were delicious as well as the gumbo. The food overall was well done and seasoned well. Our server, Patrick, was particularly attentive and professional. I have already recommended this place to my friends and hope to return very soon."

  • "We took a friend here on Mother's Day at her request because she had heard good things about it. For the first 1/2 hour we were absolutely the only people in the restaurant but still could not get a waiter to come take a drink order. We had the deviled eggs and cornmeal oysters for an appetizer. Both were fine, just not great. When I asked for a glass of champagne to celebrate, it came in a regular white wine glass. Not the kind of presentation I expected at all. The lamb chops were overcooked as well. I guess this place depends on the fact it resides in a hotel for its regular customer base."

Tood has great menus and a nicely priced wine list. They need to work on the delivery and coordination of kitchen and staff. I think it is a real good value with terrific choices and reliable staples on the menu."

  • "This was recommended by friends and I like the style and feel of the place but it came off to me as not quote ready. The server was helpful but flustered. The shrimp and grits were oily from the andouille sausage and in an overly sweetened BBQ sauce. On the other hand, the mixed greens salad was excellent with a nice goat cheese filled roll. M friends mussels were good and she liked the broth and black eyed peas. I will try it again next time in DC to see if these items are ironed out."

  • "The food certainly was not bad--I had a good gumbo, and the shrimp and grits were tasty as well. My wife had a fried oysters appetizer that was heavy on the breading and low on flavor. Her shrimp mac & cheese was good. The service was pretty mediocre--the restaurant was not even half full when we went, but our waiter would disappear for long stretches, even after taking an order. The ambiance is also mediocre--the restaurant is inside a Hilton Garden Inn and it feels exactly how you would expect a restaurant in a Hilton Garden Inn to feel. I probably would not make an effort to return, but if you're in NoMA or staying at the hotel, you could do far worse."

The mushroom "bisque" was puree of mushroom, not a delicate bisque, reasonably good taste but unpleasant to look at. The burger was dry. And it took 4 reminders for them to bring me my iced tea. That said, the staff were nice. Not much of a consolation. Open Table reviewers in DC really need to have higher standards."

  • "This restaurant should be Todd Gray's "watershed" moment to stop expanding restaurants which he does not have personal control over the kitchen. The ambiance of Watershed was befitting of the Hilton Garden Inn lobby from which the restaurant is perched above. The food. I ordered the gumbo for a starter and the cobb salad for an entree. I had high expectations for a menu specializing in low country when I ordered my choices. The gumbo was so bland that I had to douse it with hot sauce,the quality and quantity of rice in the gumbo was poor, but the shrimp were great. The cobb salad was laden with blue cheese and the ranch dressing was below average. Our waiter was never around and we went without iced tea for most of our meal."
