  • "I hosted a business lunch at Todd English, P.U.B. and was delighted to find such an exceptional restaurant in the newly developed area around the new, downtown entertainment district. Its sister restaurant is located in Las Vegas and its menu did not disappoint. With a raw bar, a wide variety of excellent food choices and several special offerings, Todd English, P.U.B. is a great place to entertain guests, and enjoy the ambiance of a world-class restaurant with a staff of well-trained professionals. I will be back whenever my travels bring me back to Birmingham!"

  • "We had family members visiting from out of town and they are always looking to try teh newest, local places! They were very pleased with the beer selection, but were somewhat disappointed that some of the local beers were out. Food was amazing, and very uniquely presented! They stated they would definitely like to come back. Only negative is that the noise is a little bit loud and hard to hear each other talk somewhat."

  • "Fabulous beer list with good prices! The creative tweaks to basic menu items take the so called pub food to a new, delicious level. Definitely one of the most fun restaurants I've been to located in a hotel."

  • "Food was awesome. Service was slow! Great beer and food selections! Will be back!"

  • "The food was great and the service was excellent. They have a great menu of interesting "southern" foods and lots of beer on tap. The only negative was that they try to sit six at tables that really should be for 4 people. Luckly we only had 4 and we removed 2 of the chairs from the table. However, if there would have been 6 - the meal would have been extremely uncomfortable. The table next to us had some more average sized diners (for the south) and they could not fit at the table and had to be move to a place where two tables could be put together for the 6 of them. If this problem isn't fixed, I suspect it will keep a lot of people from coming back - regardless of how great the food and service are."

  • "We went here for Match Day with a party of 9. They were able to accommodate a big group and service was great. Some dishes were amazing (chicken pot pie, burger, fish and chips). The bloody Mary's we're fabulous! Others were just ok - the carving sandwiches were very tasty but pretty plain without much for sides. Overall it was a good experience and can't wait to go back and dig into the awesome beer list!"

  • "Great food, great service, great bar selections. My only complaint was that it was very hard to carry on a conversation as it was so loud"

  • "We enjoyed our food (lobster rolls, fish & chips, and Bailey's milkshake), but it was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. Everyone in the place was shouting in order to be heard."

  • "there's really no excuse for food and service this exceptionally bad."

  • "Service was good. Food was just ok but beer selection was fantastic. Bar was full for happy hours but then only a few stayed for dinner. I think I know why. Lastly, not a place for a business conversation"

  • "But even so, was a little dissappointed. For a long time, this spot at the base of the Westin was the only game in the new Uptown district. However, with new restaurants opening up there, TE needs to step up its menu. A great beer assortment, yes, but beyond sliders, the menu is lacking. If you're looking for just burger fare as you watch big screen sports, then this might be good for you. Beyond that, I'd pass...let's not even get into my dirty wine glass that I had to send back twice..."

  • "We had a great time there! We were seated right away even though it was crowded and there was a two hour wait! Definetly make a reservation!"

  • "Went there for weekend date night. Pleasant atmosphere but not as "cozy" as we would have liked. Service was awesome;seated right on time. Food was good but a bit over-priced for the area. All in all a good experience."

  • "The service was spectacular and the food was good after I had to send it back. I asked for a medium rare steak closer to rare and was given a well done steak. But the problem was handled immediately and efficiently. Overall my experience this time was 20 times better than the first time I went."

  • "I suggested this restaurant for a group Sunday brunch. Based on the website, and what I've heard of their Vegas location we were all excited to try it out. Unfortunately only one person in our party of six enjoyed their meal. I ordered the chicken & waffles and a side grits - the waffle was rubbery, the chicken was okay, but not well seasoned. The grits were extremely lumpy - how does this happen in any restaurant in the South? The restaurant is decorated quite nicely; it's a great space. But, the food is extremely disappointing. I don't plan on going back."

  • "I think food needs to be better. We got a lobster roll with very little amount of lobster with it. Also chicken and waffles were not hot and crispy. The syrup was already poured onto waffles and they were soggy. Morley frites were cold as well. French fried on top were also a little stale. Ambiance was good and beer was great. Calamari was amazing."

  • "The food at Todds was outstanding, and the drinks were right on also. Service was a little bit overwhelmed but they did a pretty good job. Ambiance was great they had live music. Me, my wife and our dinner guests had a great time for Valentines night there."

  • "Went for dinner and breakfast. Our dinner server decided half way through our meal we didn't need service anymore. We had to search for her twice by walking around. We were a table of 10 (I was entertaining customers) never again. At breakfast the next day (the only food available) they forgot to put one breakfast order in. Breakfast took 25 min but the one they forgot to 45. What a disaster. I will probably just choose a different hotel next trip to Birmingham. I asked the. Anger to call me the afternoon after my breakfast to let him/her know so they could make corrections. I now see why they are so poorly run - the manager didn't even take the time to call me. It shows the lack of care for the restaurant."

  • "I hope this restaurant can get their act together. To my understanding this is his 2nd location in the US. The other one in Las Vegas. I will have to say that we tried to dine the night of the Eagles Concert. Got there at 5:30 and had to leave at 7:40 for the concert without any food :( But in fairness we went back after the concert to grab a bite and the kobe beef sliders hit the spot."

  • "Was in town for business and ate here for lunch, dinner and breakfast. Lunch and dinner service were very good. While they're training some wait staff, it was clear to see that some will make it and others will likely not. Lots of options on the menu, huge beer selection. The odd thing about our dinner is that everyone's food came out at different times. At breakfast, we didn't get the correct food and we got our checks before we got our food. After all that, the waiter hadn't included out hot teas on the bill and they were added on rather than comped. Would try it again but need to work out the kinks for sure. Lots of potential with a pretty cool menu and many things that you wouldn't find elsewhere."

  • "I made a reservation at Todd English P.U.B. two months in advance for an after-party the night of my November wedding. I had eaten at the restaurant once before and enjoyed the food, though the service had been a bit slow. I spoke with the staff several times to go over the guest list and the head count. I even called an hour before my reservation one last time to confirm. I arrived to find that the room I reserved for my 40 guests was unavailable. Our waitress very rudely told me that she was expecting only 15 people and that we all needed to sit and stay in our seats while she pulled cold tables from the patio. My guests were uncomfortable, the food was mediocre, and the service was horrible. It was an awful end to an otherwise happy day."

  • "Been to P.U.B in Las Vegas and it is one of our favorite restaurants. This just didn't cut the mustard. The food was just ok and not the same experience as Las Vegas...but hey its Birmingham. Great beer list and cocktails were expertly mixed. Would I go back? Perhaps...to the bar for a snack and a drink or lunch. Also would be a great bar to watch the game with friends. It appears there is an area where you can have your own private taps! Three years ago this place would have been ground breaking in Birmingham but now there are other players in the game."

  • "After being seated it was probably 10 minutes before a waiter came by. Realizing that things may take a while we went ahead and ordered drinks and entrees. The entrees (Lobster Rolls) came out very quickly in fact that came out so quickly we had not received our drinks yet and had to remind the waiter about them. The Lobster Rolls were quite good and I would recommend them. After eating we asked for our bill and talked to some of the tables next to us (it should be noted the tables are very close) and they had similar complaints about service. With new restaurants opening in the area soon it will be interesting to see if the good food can triumph over poor service and keep them in business."

  • "Very much a Brew pub/sports bar atmosphere. Second visit before BJCC event. Prices are high, food is interesting and good. Kids chocolate milkshake ,nothing special, was $7.00-REALLY? So great to have a place near the convention center, just be prepared to pay the price for the convenience. I don't mind paying ,but the service was not good, thank GOD the food was good.."

  • "The bar was very well set up. It was a bit cold temp wise on a cool night. The beers were cold from draft. The food was excellent. The food was priced accordingly as well. The server was quite attentive, accomodating and intuitive to the customers needs. It was a good experience overall. I will return when I visit Bham again."

  • "We were passing through Birmingham on Christmas night and were lucky to find the restaurant open. We had a full dinner at the bar. Service was ok, food very good - try the tuna tartare and chicken pot pie. The burger was good. Drinks very good, wine list okay."

  • "We have been to Todd English twice on the past month after shows at the BJCC. Excellent food and a great beer selection, including cask beer (before they run out) which I have not seen since I visited the UK a couple of years ago. I recommend the ribs, very meaty and the sauce was great."

  • "Service was okay in terms of efficiency, but underwhelming in terms of preparedness and professionalism. We dined from a pre fixe menu in order to get to a show at the nearby civic center on time. Food was meerly ok, though that have been due solely to the quick nature of our choices. The beer list was extensive and the bar scene was rocking. Overall, ok if you're in a pinch or staying at Westin but otherwise disappointing and not worth the money."

  • "The food was great .... unbelievably loud. The set up and the food was so good that you would have enjoyed staying. However, because of the band ... you could not carry on a conversation. I really would have liked to have stayed. I was in a hurry to get our check."

  • "My husband and I decided at the last minute to go out for dinner on Black Friday. We heard about Todd English, and decided to give it a try! We found a great wine list, and the tuna appetizer was wonderful! I chose the lobster cobb salad, it's the only place in Birmingham I have ever seen this on the menu, and it was delicious! My husband got the salmon, and also loved it! I plan on taking friends there for dinner next weekend! I can't wait to dive into the lobster cobb salad again!!"

  • "I made a reservation prior to the recent Alabama concert through Open Table. Upon arrival, they could not find my reservation even though they called to confirm it at 2:30 that afternoon! We were however seated immediately as they were not extremely busy. Be aware, this place is loud. So don't go if that bothers you. Food was mediocre but they have a great beer list. We complained to the manager about the Chef (maybe not the Chef but the guy in the kitchen dressed in white trying to get the orders out). He was yelling, screaming, slamming doors and really acting like a child. So this place is recommended on convenience and beer only. Eat before you go, have a beer or two with your friends, then walk across the street to your concert."

  • "Went there WITH reservations before concert. The place was an absolute ZOO/CHAOS; staff was out of control of the situation. Overbooked and too many people allowed in facility. After standing in line at bar for 20 minutes ordered a double vodka( did not want to wait again), cosmo and a Sam Adams and was handed a bill for $50. Got seated 45 minutes after reservation and asked what on the menu we could get in 30 minutes; waitress( politely and honestly) said no way; not even an order of fries and there were 40 tickets ahead of us. We ate popcorn and left. Will not return"

  • "The night we dined at Todd English PUB was the night the Eagles were in town and the establishment was very under staffed. They did the best they could but were noticeably overwhelmed. It took forever to order drinks and unless we physically got up and tracked our waiter down we wouldn't have even been able to order our dinner or drinks."

  • "Had 530 reservation waited 30 min for seats. Only got 1 round of drinks and told at 6:15 the wait at bar was over an hour so we probably shouldn't order second round. Waitress never came back after that to check on us. Food took an hour to arrive and one member of our party never received her order. We finally had to get up and leave so we did not miss the concert. This consistently seems to be a problem with this restaurant on concert nights. The restaurant does not seem well prepared to handle large crowds and understaffs every time there is an event at the BJCC Every time we've eaten here the service has been terrible. Food was decent when it finally showed up but we will not be coming back here due to service issues."

  • "about the noise level and the quality of food and the overall service, then Todd English P.U.B. Birmingham is for you. Rather than being something unique and different in downtown Birmingham, it turns out that the second installment of this restaurant was just another bar with loud music, middling food, and poor service. A small example, but one that speaks volumes in general about our experience: my standard cocktail order is a Ketel One martini straight up with two olives. The first came, albeit after a long wait, with NO olives. After asking, I received another glass with four olives. My second order for the same came quicker, but WAS NOT Ketel One. It wasn't even vodka. I could go on, but what we will not do is go back."

  • "This is a great place to meet friends and enjoy the ambiance. The food is good to very good. The timeliness of service is not so much when the are smoking busy, but perhaps that is to be expected. The wait staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. The prices are up there for an easy dinner for two, and if the atmosphere was not what it was, I would not recommend this restaurant. For beer and munchies, this place is too expensive. But it is a great physical location and there are lots of things that you might enjoy. The crowd noise made it difficult to hear the person across the table, but that may just be me"
