Diner Reviews
  • "We went to walk around and try Todd English at the Plaza during restaurant week and it was awesome. The food was so delicious - we had the lobster hush puppies, popcorn shrimp cobb taco, eggplant flatbread and the goat cheese stuffed ravioli. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes."

  • "Was fighting the crowds at the Apple store while my daughter was buying a phone and having it setup when we decided at the last minute to go for dinner and searched on Tripadvisor. The Food Plaza did not disappoint."

  • "Plenty of varieties to choose. We had cuisine from the seafood section, halibut and salmon... quite nicely done. Enjoyable causal atmosphere with fine food. Dessert a little lacking, better choices from the concession outside the dining food hall."

  • "The maitre de could not have been more accomodating honoring my seating request of table for two and he told me menus had just been changed and I might not find my favorites. Sadly my salmon burger was one of the casualties. I opted for the veggie burger...It was very bland and disappointing. Instead of a yummy multigrain roll--the portobello mushrooms sandwiched in the red pepper and squash. If you are on a diet this is the perfect option. My prawn cocktail was delcious and my husband raved about the duck and sushi. Our walnut apple pie was decadently delicious. There is a wide variety to choose from. I would just not highly recommend the veggie burger which needs some imaginative retooling."

  • "This is a tourist trap not worthy of Manhattan-overly expensive, poor service and the food is passable at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone"

  • "Service was slow but cordial very noisy but kind of adds to the ambiance but you need to be prepared for that noise. The food Asian Salad was not special just average the steamed duck buns were very tasty."

  • "With a restaurant associated with Todd English I was fully expecting an excellent, what my party and I got was far from that. To start the restaurant must have issues with their central air. The ambience was killed by how hot and humid the restaurant was. Service was awful... Everyone in a party of four received their meals (appetizers included) at different times. When they messed the dessert order up though, they were kind enough to bring a new dessert, which after how awful everything else went, it was quite shocking. The food.... probably one of the worst meals I have ever had. The pasta "sauce" was more like pasta soup. To add to how awful it was it had zero flavor. Chicken was dry and pizza soggy."

  • "The place is fine--great for a quick simple lunch. I wish the people manning the registers (or monitors or whatever they're intently punching all the time and never look up from) at the front would lose their attitude. Each time I've been there, they act so haughty--as if. Really? Too busy and important to smile at your customers? Also, the last time I was there, I was told the restaurant wasn't open and to stand waiting--even though I had arrived 2 minutes late for my reservation. That's okay--I'm patient--but not a single pleasant "sorry"? Why so curt lady? Are these people mean because nobody ever tips them?"

  • "TE expanded so rapidly or the initial staff he hired is no longer there because the food and the service have suffered horribly. Servers are slow, forgetful, not knowledgeable about the menu. The food used to be amazing but now it's quite bad; expensive, awful tourist-fare. The ingredients are no longer fresh and top of the line and it shows - however, the prices remain the same. I've given this place so many chances and it keeps getting worse so shame on me. Never again. Please note that this is for the restaurant portion of the Food Hall - I am not commenting on the individual food kiosks."

  • "I chose this restaurant is that I had a very large Fairmont gift card. This restaurant is located at the Plaza Hotel, a Fairmont operated hotel. I called the restaurant weeks in advance to ensure that i could use the gift card and was told that it was no problem. Upon receiving the check, i was told i could not use the card. I asked for a manager and then was told he was to busy to meet with me as it was Saturday night. I was furious. Notwithstanding, the ambiance was neat. The food was also good. The problem here is the organization. Since the server is obtaining food from different food stations, it is extremely chaotic and unorganized. Our food was misdelivered to the table next to us on 3 occasions. Overall - UNHAPPY!"

  • "A friend recommended this to us. We had a great morning in Central Park and came here for lunch. We were a bit disappointed. Food was very average. We had to ask waitress for refills on drinks. Expected more from a restaurant in Plaza Hotel."

  • "I have visited The Todd Engkish 5 times and the last two times the quality of the food and service have been disappointed. I asked for tacos and they were insipid, the fish was acceptable but not for the price. The service was slow, and the waiter didn't listen to me at all. I won't come back anymore."

  • "I've been here before with my two- year old and have always had a wonderful time, unfortunately this wasn't one- two adults and a toddler were seated at a cocktail table for dinner. At any one time we could have only one platter in front of us and that made eating cumbersome, we ultimately resorted to combining the ordered items into one plate so as not to wait for the servers to come around a second time. Either the place was overbooked (which is odd since one side of the dining space was shut) and/or under-staffed but we were left feeling like we were waiting forever"

  • "Takes the food court concept at you local mall to a new level. Clever idea with outstanding food. I was able to get sushi and my wife had tacos at the same restaurant."

  • "While I love TE because there is something for every appetite and palate on the menu...I have been increasingly disappointed that certain stations, particularly the cheese and charcuterie are not always available. On a busy Thursday night when it appeared that they were using every section of the dining room, the cheese station was not available. You would think that would be the easiest station to staff. We shared a few things including the filet salad, and all were yummy, but I was still disappointed because I went planning on getting the cheese plate."

  • "Made a mistake coming here. Seating was on barstools; noise level ferocious. Service appallingly slow. Food was just so-so, and not worth the misery we had to endure to eat it. So much for eating at the Plaza! Ugh."

  • "Love this place. So many choices, so many decisions. The duck appetizers were to die for ! And, don't forget the Filet Mignon Sliders ! Fun ! Fun ! Fun ! "

  • "From the moment we sat down for our evening reservation, they were cleaning up the place and shutting down. It was a terrible customer experience, and they should stop taking reservations well before the clean up needs to begin. I have also been here for lunch and did not have this same experience which is why I think there may still be hope during that time. Food is delicious but if you feel like you are being rushed and cannot have a cappuccino with your dessert because they already cleaned the machine and shut down, you do not want to come back no matter how good the food tastes."

  • "Our Todd English Food Hall experience was terrific! The menu offers many choices for all and our waiter and server were great! Depending on what you order, items do come out at different times, but this made our dining experience more enjoyable! The various foods that we ordered were delicious and some of the items were perfect for sharing. We would definitely return here in the future!"

  • "After much research, we booked Todd English for our first Mel in NYC. I'm not sure by we even booked as we had the worse table in the house, by the sushi bar where the servers picked up the food. Service and food was lacking. Our server didn't see us for over 15 min and seemed uninterested in our questions. We had the linguine vongole, Parmesan fries and kale salad with plans to eat again elsewhere too. The pasta was underdone with l,ost no flavour. That was promptly returned. The salad over salty. The mos unforgivable part was the incredibly shoddy service we received from the hosts and servers. Will never go to a Todd English restaurant again. "

  • "We went for dinner here as we had just gone to th food plaza tha opening for breakfast and it was great. We sat at the bar for dinner and both had burgers but there was a huge check of different foods. So would definitely go here if everyone wants something different to eat. Great service and different cocktails. "

  • "Went with a group while in the City. Chosen for it's menu-something for everyone. Service was great and very responsive to requests. We would go again just to be able to sample more of the menu."

  • "What would have been a superb time was marred by the surely condescension of our waiter. He also neglected to add the Parmesan cheese to our meal, was slow to come by the table, and lacked the personal welcome and attitude we'd have expected of this delightful food hall. We shall return, hoping that we get a different wait staff person."

  • "The food hall has been a favorite of mine for several years. The menu is always changing, with delicious choices, the wine list is superb and extensive. However the past serval visits the service has been poor. The waiter forgetting to bring drinks or food. Clearing the table prior to asking if we were done. Rushing us out. If the food wasn't so good not sure I'd go back."

  • "This place is amazing. The menu was off the charts, everything from the cocktails to the entree were outstanding. I wanted to go back the next to try something else. The service was exceptional as well. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this place a strong 10."

  • "The great thing about plaza food hall is they have something for everyone. The variety of food is great and the food is delicious. I have eaten here about 10times. The food is consistent and so is the staff. Although it is at the plaza, it is complete non pretentious. It is also very clean- they cook in front of you... which I happen to like."

  • "Lackluster service. So so food and otherwise depressing aura leads one to believe that Food Hall's is a shadow of it's original self. The waitstaff in its depressive & uninterested service reflect the quality & boredom of the menu that has stayed the same for a year. Fit for tourists who don't know any better."

  • "I live near the Plaza and love the food court. It is so great that the large menu offers something for everyone and there are great dishes to share. My only wish would be that the newer part of the food court with the cakes and sweets stays open longer so you could go there afterwards for dessert. One downfall of the Food Court is that depending on where you sit, you will have to get your entire wardrobe dry cleaned due to food smells but that is a small price to pay for this great eatery."

  • "Todd English continues to provide some fun restaurants and good food. I particularly like to go here with groups to get lots of food to taste. Seafood towers are always an excellent starter and fresh made pastas are good to share."

  • "What mood are you in? Home made pasta? Fish? Steak? Sushi? Tacos? Stir fry? Had them all on different occasions and was never disappointed! You can see everything made before your eyes in the open concept kitchen stations. You will not be disappointed!"

  • "The food - okay, but mgmt atrocious. For $22 one gets three skimpy sliders on an empty plate with 4 apple slices. No fries? No garnish?A mgr came over to ask if there was a problem.Since my office is1 block away-I am not a 1 and done customer-and I was on a business lunch. I ordered another dish-equally skimpy&very greasy. Then, the kitchen manager came to the table and asked "Is there a problem?" I explained that that the plate was really too large for the small portion, I asked how difficult it would be to put a handful of fries on the plate since the food cost is probably .75. Well--this kitchen manager gave me a lecture on food costs and how I didn't know anything& would't leave. Never going back. Let's talk real cost of arrogant employees."

  • "I love TE, but it's been under new management. The changes are very frustrating to a regular patron. I like it because it's easy & fun, there is something everybody...when it's available. They have changed the charcuterie offerings to "chef's choice", so if you get something you don't like, you're out of luck. You should be able to pick what you want, or it's one chef's choice and the others you can pick. Also, the charcuterie & cheese station was not even available when we went. Not only were these stations closed and unavailable to order, so where about half of the pastas, and the fried rice and noodles. It caused everybody in our party to change their order. Even our server admitted customers are regularly upset by this."

  • "We received a gift certificate to this restaurant located in the Food Court at the Plaza Hotel, NYC. It is on the lower level. The room is set up with communal tables, and there is something for everyone's taste….from pizza, salads, sushi, entrees…you name it. There was good energy with various parties/families doing their thing and enjoying the environment. As for a dining experience, we prefer private tables and ambiance when we have dinner. Since we had requested table for two, we had an entire communal table all to ourselves. The service was good. The fried oysters were excellent, as was the beet salad. I found the sea bass a bit bland and a pasta dish with ricotta was tasty."
