A word from TOCA - Ritz Carlton Toronto
TOCA is an homage to the City we call home. Though not all of us were born here; we help make this diverse metropolitan area the most culturally rich destination in North America. TOCA is a culinary journey through the neighborhoods of our city with a “back to basics” approach. A celebration of the mélange of ethnicities from around the globe using their flavors and influences to take you back in time when food was simple; and the binding of family and friends to reconnect, unwind and enjoy each others company.

TOCA is an experience; casual, yet refined with small plates meant for sharing, delivered with the warmth and hospitality that Canadians are renowned for. Come and re-discover TOCA for the first time, and fall in love with the familiar warmth of The Authentic Culinary Trade that was perfected by the families that migrated to the City we now refer to as Toronto Canada.

Diner Reviews
  • "Can you believe a restaurant in city like Toronto without vegetarian option? Means, not a single one!! And then, we were suggested to go with the starters... The food was ok. I ordered fish which came with yoghurt based sauce. Not great. The only good thing is ambience but otherwise, wonder why this is listed in Opentable."

  • "The brunch was excellent. Food was beautifully presented and great quality. Staff was helpful and accommodating. Overall great experience and I would highly recommend it!"

  • "Enjoyed the Sunday brunch and overall felt that it was reasonably good value given the inclusion of mimosa/bellini/caesars. However, there should definitely be an alternate price point for non-drinkers as it definitely lacks value for those."

  • "Spent $300+ for 4 before wine. Service was friendly but extremely slow. Not impressed by the food at all where we ordered tasting menus and a la carte items. Decor was meh. You are better off spending this kind of money elesewhere."

  • "Good - entrees quite good ; (appetizers (slow cooked shrimp, lemon risotto) bland). Bad - waiter and somelier pleasant but little useful knowedge ('the cod is good"); room lacks atmosphere ; combined with average food ,suggest try elsewhere unless desperate to eat in a hotel"

  • "Great food, excellent service, perfect ambience and fantastic view! Couldn't be better! I have been a food critic before for a well known chain restaurant and I know how to critique. This is a perfect 10."

  • "One of the only restaraunts in the neighborhood that genuinley celebrates food and the dining experience. I've been several time, and always look forward to going back."

  • "There is a good variety of food to choose from at brunch. The quality of food is good too. We particularly liked the assortment of fresh seafood."

  • "Toca has exceptional, creative Italian food. I had been there before on business, and wanted to share it with my family. Tonight, our charming waiter - F - was far too busy to give us the attention that is expected from a restaurant of this caliber. He frequently apologized, but still seemed more engaged with the big private party in one of the nearby rooms. One free glass of wine was appreciated, but didn't compensate for a slow night with gaps in attention. NOTE: the cheese expert lady was outstanding; you must let her show you the Toca cheese room."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at TOCA and I'm so glad we did. It was truly the most special night in every way. The service was excellent and the food was spectacular. We requested a romantic table and we loved the spot they chose for us. Everything exceeded our expectations (which were already very high from our last visit). Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Enjoyed a pre-Roy Thompson Hall performance by David Curry and the TSO with GOLFSTR investors. Plenty of room to swing a golf club in there. Definitely not sitting on top of each other. A little on the pricey side. Our server was one of the artists who crafted the display plates decorating each table. Nice touch."

  • "Great service and spectacular food with a twist. The Maitre'd gave great advice and knew his stuff."

  • "Brunch - service and atmosphere was great. Food quality was poor overall especially considering it is the Ritz-Carlton and the price tag is $75 per person. There is plenty of food but it is exactly what you would get at other lesser quality establishments albeit presented in a better room and in better serving dishes. Lots of pre-frozen items - rubbery lobster tails, the smoked trout was almost inedible and overdressed salads. Dessert quality was much better than any of the savoury options it must be noted. Unlimited Mimosas, friendly, engaged staff elevated the otherwise bland food experience."

  • "My partner was attending a gala in the Ritz Carlton so I decided to treat myself. And what a treat it was! The food was superb and the service was perfect. The chef provided an amuse-bouche before the meal and a little complimentary dessert at the end of the meal. It was all delicious. Yes, you will pay more for your meal here, but part of that is for the excellence of the meal and part of it is, well, it is the Ritz Carlton. ;-) The chef even came out to chat for a few minutes. Unfortunately, I have forgotten his name but he was very charming. "

  • "We always enjoy dining in TOCA. This was our 9th time in the past year. It is also the first time that we have had a disappointing moment. Our waiter failed to take the correct order for the main course for one out the five of us. How he miscued an order for beef cheeks and served up lemon risotto with sweat breads instead was quite unbelievable. Yes, the mistake was rectified but it meant that one of my party ate their main course as the rest of us were completing our own. Far from ideal and certainly not the standard that we expect from TOCA. "

  • "Your food level seems to be falling off. The constant change in staff suggests there is something off. Not sure what is going on but something is off with your SUNDAY BRUNCH. "

  • "We have dined at many Ritz Restaurants and the Toca does not meet the standards. The menu is limited , the portions are small, the prices are steep & the food lacks creativity. The service was slow and not knowledgeable. I suggest that the management, chef and servers visit the Normans restuarant at the Ritz in Orlando to see what a the best in class looks like."

  • "Went here to celebrate a Bday with my Boyfriend - and it was a great choice - The food was delicious ( he preferred the filet mignon here to Barbarians) and Felix (I hope that's his name :s) was outstanding with his recommendations from wine, drinks to the short ribs. Mains do not come with a side - so be prepared for a moderately higher bill - but everything was delicious :)"

  • "I have had Sunday brunch at TOCA twice now and have been completely blown away by the service both times. The staff bent over backwards to address my food sensitivities and to accommodate some special requests I made, and were very attentive throughout our visit. The food on both occassions was similar but not the same, with a wide selection that would suit any taste, and the quality was fantastic. I am already planning my third visit!"

  • "Had a business lunch at TOCA - very expensive, but the food was good"
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "I was disappointed with the food. For the price, I was expecting better - in addition, the menu was different than what they offer on their website because it was a Sunday. Not knowing this, it added to the disappointment. The menu was shorter and they said it was to accommodate the kitchen! In addition, I personally do not like receiving a plate with only a piece of meat in it. In a high end restaurant, like at Toca, you expect a higher level of dining experience... if the chef doesn't bother to dress the plate, which is in my opinion more than half of the experience, he/she should not be in this business. I love the Ritz for its upscale reputation, but I don't think I will go back to the restaurant."

  • "For $200 dinner for 2 should feel special and it simply wasn't. Decent service but clearly not the A team on a Sunday night of a long weekend. Asked for romantic table via opentable yet they put is in the middle of the room straddled by two groups on either side. Wine was delicious but entrees were not. Forgot to tell me as I ordered that rack if lamb was unavailable yet it was only one of 6 entrees on the menu. Filet was dry and cooked medium despite ordering medium rare. Butternut squash ravioli looked promising but ultimately dry and bland. Expected more for the money and from a restaurant at a Ritz property"

  • "I had been here for dinner before, and it was delicious, but I had wanted to try their brunch for a while. Brunch is only on Sundays, and is well worth the price! The food is delicious - tons of seafood, cheese, fruit, pastries, an omelette station, eggs benedict, soup, beef wellington, and delicious desserts! You also get bellinis and mimosas with the cost of your brunch. I would highly recommend Toca for brunch!"

  • "A very romantic and quiet restaurant attached to Ritz Carlton. The menu is to the point and food is outstanding. This is not my first trip and wont be my last. The wine list is great and there private selection is also great. The word no doesn't exist. I would recommend the filet and the cod when featured. The tartar app is one of the best in the city."

  • "The Staff and Service made this place stand out. The food was equally outstanding"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "The food was horrible, the variety of food list was exteremly bad, waiters and survisir were rude and everybody give us attitude, i wont come back to this resturant specially in this kind of occasional, why should spend $260 for horrible food"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "While everyone was smiling and friendly, I personally feel that the service must be 100% to justify 50$ for a piece of chicken. The food was fair for the price, but it was nothing special. I would think that all the dishes should have the flair of the calamari which went really well with the squid ink. The service was below average, like I had said, they were polite and friendly but my water was never poured for me, we had asked 2 questions that were never answered, this is hardly the type of service I had expected. The last puzzling thing was the cheese plate I had, water crackers, apples and pecans. All good right ? but smack in the middle, olives? over powering olives with cheese ? did you mean grapes ?"
