A word from TOCA - Ritz Carlton Toronto
TOCA is an homage to the City we call home. Though not all of us were born here; we help make this diverse metropolitan area the most culturally rich destination in North America. TOCA is a culinary journey through the neighborhoods of our city with a “back to basics” approach. A celebration of the
mélange of ethnicities from around the globe using their flavors and influences to take you back in time when food was simple; and the binding of family and friends to reconnect, unwind and enjoy each others company.
TOCA is an experience; casual, yet refined with small plates meant for sharing, delivered with the warmth and hospitality that Canadians are renowned for. Come and re-discover TOCA for the first time, and fall in love with the familiar warmth of The Authentic Culinary Trade that was perfected by the families that migrated to the City we now refer to as Toronto Canada.

Amazing server, Wendy treated us
like family. Very relaxed dinner with great food and wine."

We have dined at many Ritz
Restaurants and the Toca does not meet the standards. The menu is limited , the portions are small, the prices are steep & the food lacks creativity. The service was slow and not knowledgeable. I suggest that the management, chef and servers visit the Normans restuarant at the Ritz in Orlando to see what a the best in class looks like."

perfect for special occasion,
great interior, awesome wine selection - fantastic lamb"

these guys really cook food and
every dish is executed perfectly.....the menu is small but really great choices....great wine sommelier as well"

Went here to celebrate a Bday with
my Boyfriend - and it was a great choice - The food was delicious ( he preferred the filet mignon here to Barbarians) and Felix (I hope that's his name :s) was outstanding with his recommendations from wine, drinks to the short ribs. Mains do not come with a side - so be prepared for a moderately higher bill - but everything was delicious :)"

Very good Appetizers. 45 days age
Ribeye was well seasoned and perfectly cooked to medium well."

Great selection, great quality, it
lives up to Ritz Carlton brand!"
Dined on 3/2/2014
Ritz-Carlton is one of my favorite
hotels and Toca is an excellent complement to the property."

I have had Sunday brunch at TOCA
twice now and have been completely blown away by the service both times. The staff bent over backwards to address my food sensitivities and to accommodate some special requests I made, and were very attentive throughout our visit. The food on both occassions was similar but not the same, with a wide selection that would suit any taste, and the quality was fantastic. I am already planning my third visit!"

Had a business lunch at TOCA -
very expensive, but the food was good"
Dined on 2/26/2014
I was disappointed with the food.
For the price, I was expecting better - in addition, the menu was different than what they offer on their website because it was a Sunday. Not knowing this, it added to the disappointment. The menu was shorter and they said it was to accommodate the kitchen! In addition, I personally do not like receiving a plate with only a piece of meat in it. In a high end restaurant, like at Toca, you expect a higher level of dining experience... if the chef doesn't bother to dress the plate, which is in my opinion more than half of the experience, he/she should not be in this business. I love the Ritz for its upscale reputation, but I don't think I will go back to the restaurant."

For $200 dinner for 2 should feel
special and it simply wasn't. Decent service but clearly not the A team on a Sunday night of a long weekend. Asked for romantic table via opentable yet they put is in the middle of the room straddled by two groups on either side. Wine was delicious but entrees were not. Forgot to tell me as I ordered that rack if lamb was unavailable yet it was only one of 6 entrees on the menu. Filet was dry and cooked medium despite ordering medium rare. Butternut squash ravioli looked promising but ultimately dry and bland. Expected more for the money and from a restaurant at a Ritz property"

I had been here for dinner before,
and it was delicious, but I had wanted to try their brunch for a while. Brunch is only on Sundays, and is well worth the price! The food is delicious - tons of seafood, cheese, fruit, pastries, an omelette station, eggs benedict, soup, beef wellington, and delicious desserts! You also get bellinis and mimosas with the cost of your brunch. I would highly recommend Toca for brunch!"

A very romantic and quiet
restaurant attached to Ritz Carlton. The menu is to the point and food is outstanding. This is not my first trip and wont be my last. The wine list is great and there private selection is also great. The word no doesn't exist. I would recommend the filet and the cod when featured. The tartar app is one of the best in the city."
Dined on 2/13/2014
The Staff and Service made this
place stand out. The food was equally outstanding"
Dined on 2/15/2014
The food was horrible, the variety
of food list was exteremly bad, waiters and survisir were rude and everybody give us attitude, i wont come back to this resturant specially in this kind of occasional, why should spend $260 for horrible food"
Dined on 2/14/2014
While everyone was smiling and
friendly, I personally feel that the service must be 100% to justify 50$ for a piece of chicken. The food was fair for the price, but it was nothing special. I would think that all the dishes should have the flair of the calamari which went really well with the squid ink. The service was below average, like I had said, they were polite and friendly but my water was never poured for me, we had asked 2 questions that were never answered, this is hardly the type of service I had expected. The last puzzling thing was the cheese plate I had, water crackers, apples and pecans. All good right ? but smack in the middle, olives? over powering olives with cheese ? did you mean grapes ?"

The service is excellent. Their
birthday surprise is always good and unpredictable but the food needs to be improved. I"

We went to Toca for our 4th year
anniversary. I mentioned to our server that it was our anniversary. She promptly moved us to a cozy booth and brought a glass of bubbly for each of us. The service was fantastic, the food was very good and it wasn't too loud or cramped. They they also surprised us with a complimentary dessert with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. So impressed - so thoughtful. We will be back!"
Dined on 2/1/2014
Great atmosphere. Perfect for
after work dinner, drinks or meeting up with friends. The service was excellent and the wine list is impressive, with lots to choose from. Very impressed with the menu starting with the apps through to the mains. Will definitely be going back for date night or girl's night out! Pleasant environment and not too loud so you can actually have a conversation."

Very good for a hotel restaurant.
Creative menu, perfectly cooked. Biggish room but comfortable. Great pre show find."

My girlfriend and I are budding
foodies, and I decided to take her to TOCA for her birthday dinner given the rave reviews I was seeing around the web. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, from start to finish we were waited on with the perfect balance of attentiveness and space which allowed us to share a special dinner. To make matters even more special, they carried a unique brand of Australian wine whose winery we had visited the year before and cannot be found elsewhere in Toronto. The food was incredible, especially the in house cheese cave, which made an excellent finish to our already outstanding meal. Highly recommended."

We chose Toca at the
recommendation of my sister who has been several times. She is a local politician so there was some concern that she might be receiving service beyond the norm as can sometimes happen. I am happy to say that could not be farther from the truth. We were very happy with all parts of the experience. Our food was excellent and perfectly timed. Our only regret was that we were due at the theatre and so could not partake of the cheese list. Something we intend to rectify soon. Our only minor complaint might have been that the number of service staff we were dealing with became somewhat confusing to my 86 yr old father. Certainly not cause to avoid another truly marvelous experience."
Dined on 12/19/2013
Expected more from the experience.
Have dined there before and found the food and service at a much better level in the past. Service was polite, but with long stretches between courses, despite the restaurant being half full. Not sure we will return again."
Dined on 12/30/2013
...except had to wait multiple
times to be seated even though we had reservations. We were asked multiple times if we'd been helped which was a little annoying. They attempted to make it up with mediocre amuse bouche; the effort was appreciated. Food was decent - average/above average; The octopus appetizer was especially nice. Wine selection was unexpected - a positive surprise."
Dined on 12/25/2013
The food was as really good; as
would be expected from a Ritz-Carlton based restaurant. The wine cellar selection is good, but not spectacular. The service is top notch! Total cost was almost 4K for a party of eleven - lots of wine ;) Here are a few recommendations: 1) If you go with the shared Canapés, realize that the portions are small. Being European, I was expecting the sharing 'Charcuterie Board' to consist of much more. 2) Try the Foie Gras as an appetizer. Not many restaurants continue to serve this pâté, and Toca does a really nice job of it. 3) If you enjoy beef, go for the Filet Mignon. It is, spectacular! 4) For a light desert, try the Panna Cotta. All in All, a definite "Must Try" restaurant. Ejoy!"

The hostess, the waitress, and the
manager went extra miles to make sure our night at Toca is unforgettable. it was our first Anniversary and we are very happy with the efforts they put to make us happy."

We have been to TOCA on many
occasions, often before a TSO performance. It has always been one of our favorites and seems to be getting even better. The food is imaginative and the service is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended."
Dined on 11/27/2013
The food was not at all,
definitely not recommend for foodies...I was told the chef left. The service that night was very good though."
Dined on 11/25/2013
The food was incredible, took too
long, the service was so bad that I will not go back again!!! Shame because the place is nice I was looking for a new place for my lunch meetings...."
Dined on 11/8/2013
The service is 5 star and then
some. It is upscale, yet also kid friendly. My favourite restaurant in the city because of the stunning decor, impeccable service and delicious food."
Dined on 11/9/2013
My wife and I went to Toca for our
first night out after our son was born and it was excellent. We let Taylor, their excellent Sommelier, take care of the wine selection and enjoyed truly phenomenal food. We ordered one item off-menu which they handled easily. The lobster pasta is excellent. I look forward to returning and sampling their wine selection (we had a concert to make which kept dinner shorter than we'd otherwise have liked). Toca is strongly recommended and is clearly better than most hotel restaurants, deserving to be a destination itself regardless of if you are at the ritz."
Dined on 11/8/2013
We has a wonderful dinner and
exceptional service! The beef tartar and the cheese selection was a definite hit. Would love to come back again."
Dined on 11/2/2013
Food was excellent including
choices from the cheese menu. Server went out of his way to provide for shared dishes and a fabulous chocolate dessert."
Dined on 10/31/2013
While TOCA is far from the biggest
brunch buffet in Toronto and while the space is limited it is exactly that (exclusive) and the quality of the food that makes this by far the BEST brunch in town. If you are OK with the price (it’s expensive) and want perfect service, great food and great atmosphere – this is the place to go. The emphasis on quality and not quantity is evident in every dish, the presentation, and in the service."
Dined on 10/27/2013
Celebrated with friends for a glam
breakfast (on a midweek) morning my birthday. We did the breakfast buffet and the options were plentiful and ranged from fruit to pastries to bacon...all delicious. The Chef brought me a sweet birthday."
Dined on 10/23/2013
I have dined in a lot of
restaurants, but I must say that the quality of service at the Ritz was exeptional. Wendy and her assistants were there at the right time to remove the plates. The wait for the food was perfect. The service was provided with a real smile, rich or poor are treated the same. I received a good service the minute I stepped into the front door. Thank you."
