Toasted Oak Grill & MarketTHIS WAS ANOTHER TERRIFICTHIS WAS ANOTHER TERRIFIC MEAL. OUR SERVER, KATIE, WAS OUTSTANDING. SHE WAS THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGABLE AND ATTENTIVE. THE MARGARITA AND DUCK CONFIT PIZZAS WERE DELICIOUS, AS WERE THE RIGATONI, FILLET AND SWORDFISH SPECIAL. WE ALSO LOVED THE CAESAR SALAD. WE REQUESTED A QUIET TABLE AND OUR REQUEST WAS ACCOMODATED, EVEN THOUGH IT'S HARD TO FIND QUIET IN THIS ENERGETIC PLACE. THE WINE LIST IS AFFORDABLE AND THE CHOICES ARE WONDERFUL. WE LOVE COMING BACK OVER AND OVER AGAIN.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were sat at a nice tableWe were sat at a nice table by the fireplace when we arrived. Jon, our server, was very polite and attentive. He took time to explain the menu as some of us had not dined there before and answered any questions we had. Sausage sampler is a must as an appetizer! The new farm salad that is on the menu is fantastic and I always enjoy the steak frites. The irish car bomb sundae is delicious, be careful on this one people....21 and over only!!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food PrepEverything worked together for a brilliant experience. We will be back....!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely go again...The service was impeccable, the food was great and what a COOL place to take out of town clients to experience a bit of Michigan!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways yummy!Enjoyed our Mother's Day brunch - the mimosas didn't hurt! Amazingly tasty food that is beautifully presented and menu choices work for those with hearty, healthy or picky appetites. I have never had a less than delicious meal at Toasted Oak. Keep up the great work.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat suggestionsCool restaurant with great priced wine list and interesting drink menu. I will return next time i am in Michigan!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Delicious Brunch, TooWe enjoyed our brunch at Toasted Oak this past Sunday. We tried four different dishes, and a delicious starter. The bruschetta was delicious, slathered with goat cheese, lemon honey, and topped with blueberries. Entrees were also very good, from my lemon ricotta pancakes, with a side of housemade sausage (awesome), to the waffles stacked with strawberries and fresh whipped cream, to the savory breakfast potatoes. We'll be back!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreatLoved everything except for the music. All the workers were very pleasant and the food is great.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the menu additionsWe love the menu additions and always love the Margarita pizza, trout, pork chop, and burger and the asparagus with poached egg is wonderful. Our server was competent and friendly and the atmosphere was great. We are looking forward to our next visit.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood wonderful, service mediocreThe food was excellent, beginning to end. However the service needed some work. My father requested light dressing on the salad, which was heavy on dressing when it came. When he wanted to send it back, my husband said that he would eat it and they could bring my father another. They charged us for the xtra salad, which of course they had the right to do, but probably shouldn't have since they would have had to throw it away anyway. Also, they did not clear salad plates before bringing the entrees. My mom actually handed them my dad's salad plate so that they could put down his entree. The waitress brought 2 corn bread rolls for us to share. Should have brought 4, based on the size. Had told restaurant about husbands bday but nothing done4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale food, casual atmosphereMy husband and I absolutely enjoyed our dining experience at Toasted Oak Grill&Market. We savored every morsel of our appetizer, salad, and entreé. We ordered the calamari, toasted oak caesar, toasted oak porchetta, and filet mignon. Everything was so flavorful and melted in your mouth. We both liked the upscale food with the casual atmosphere so we felt comfortable throughout our visit. The service could use some improvement though, but the food pretty much spoke for itself.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the menu and serviceWe love the menu and service is always great. Interesting cocktails, fun bar.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile I am normally hesitantWhile I am normally hesitant to dine in a hotel restaurant, Toasted Oak is a restaurant that happens to be in a hotel. The food is locally produced, the dishes are wonderful, and the service is excellent. 4.5 out of 5 stars.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu has wide range of smallMenu has wide range of small meals, large meals, and prices. Responsive service. Popular. And of course convenient for guests at the Baronette.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here because I had alwaysWent here because I had always wondered about the hotel and the restaurant inside but had been told prior that it was obscenely expensive. However, I decided to give it a try. From start to finish our meal and service was wonderful. The portions were very generous, and everything was cooked superbly. Wine list was pretty impressive as well.
Only downside was that the music they play is really loud. Somewhere between putting your ear directly over a speaker of a radio, and being in a club. It threw of the vibe just slightly.
Worth a try, and very underrated4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice treat for girls night! It was pricey, but a great treat! Wonderful food and wonderful service! I LOVE their cornbread!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service.Outstanding food and service. Will definitely return.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe smoked Trout Hash wasThe smoked Trout Hash was tasty--I will order it again. That is, after I try several other interesting dishes!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, great service,Great atmosphere, great service, great wine, great cheese, GREAT house cornbread. Ordered small plates and didn't love what we ordered, but definetly would return and try an entree or salad etc. Cheese board was lovely and wine selection was great.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Sunday brunch...not aGood Sunday brunch...not a buffet, so if that is your thing, be advised. Food was very good, with emphasis on local and house-prepared. Atmosphere was good, with maybe not quite a "come as you are" feeling, but certainly not pretentious. Everything from families with kids to couples to the after church crowd. Our service (party of 6) was very good and prices, in my mind, reasonable given the quality. I've eaten dinner here a number of times (always enjoy, especially in summer when you can sit outside), but this was my first time for Sunday brunch. I'll go back.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal overall - hasExcellent meal overall - has a french bistro feel with a great wine selection.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu, delicious food,Great menu, delicious food, warm comforting atmosphere-we loved this restaurant!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my third time to ToastedThis is my third time to Toasted Oak and each trip has been consistently good. The food was again excellent. Flavorful and unique dishes but not overly adorned. We had the mixed sausage which was wonderful, then the pork chop, the roasted chicken and the trout. All three dishes were very well done. Very good presentation, cooked just right, and simple. The service was also very good. Attentive without being pushy. This is now one of my three or four favorite restaurants in the Detroit area.
My only complaint is that the room itself a little noisy when it's crowded, and the music is often loud as well. This tends to drive people's voices up even more and it gets irritating and hard to hear. A wider range of wine would also be good.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a group meet here forHad a group meet here for the first time for Sunday brunch. Food was great and there were numerous selections. Group decided to meet there next month as well.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful example of freshWonderful example of fresh menu choices that reflect dining trends in Chicago and New York. Wish the bar stayed open later!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat we enjoyed most was theWhat we enjoyed most was the atmosphere. We were seated in the fireplace room in a large booth and found it to be a very comfortable place to visit with our guests. We shared the trout appetizer and broccolini which were both delicious. My guests enjoyed the steaks (2 filets and 1 NY strip). The trout was served with brussel sprouts and I was disappointed that they were a served like a cold salad. Everyone enjoyed the cornbread. The service was perfectly paced, we did not feel rushed.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Toasted Oak on a randomWent to Toasted Oak on a random Thursday night, not really sure what to expect. We were greeted with an unexpected surprise in the relaxed atmosphere of the front market area followed by a slightly more formal and quaint back dinning area. Our server Dani was extrodinarily enthusiastic and well versed in the nuances of the many offerings on the menu. Speaking of the menu, it is what makes this place unique- there are so many interesting options to choose from we found ourselves wishing to order small plates and entrees, decisions decisions!
The food when presented was both visually appealing and tasty - definitely will be back to try more of the charcuterie offerings
The last item worth noting is the wine list - very reasonable pricing.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic menu and food.Fantastic menu and food. Service was a little bit slower than what I had expected at lunch, but having been to Toasted Oak previously I know their service is always impeccable, and won't hold this against them.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)The menu is imaginative and well-executed. We loved the Margarita Pizza & the cedar planked trout which was succulent with Brussels sprouts & cracked wheat with dried cranberries. The mussels were very small but the flavor was great and the fries were yummy. The wine list is wonderful and very affordable and the energy of the place is great.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
