Had reservations for 8 and ordered appetizers to be ready when we arrived. No one knew about order so had to go through process again. Asked for a bill to be separate from each meal as I was covering drinks and appetizers prior to dinner. Once again I had to remind server. The food was OK but not up to the reputation that Toast boasts of. The server did not provide the attention to our table I thought he should have. Will not visit again.

After searching for a restaurant that would be open for dinner on Sunday, I finally found Toast in Summerville who would be open according to their website. I was able to make reservations on opentable, and was looking forward to a special evening out. When we arrived at our scheduled reservation, there were no cars in the parking lot and the restaurant was closed. The reservation was meant to be a celebration and instead we had to drive around looking for somewhere else to eat on a Sunday evening. It was a huge disappointment.

The location is nice, the service was friendly, but the food was poor. The crab dip was warm, and seemed like it may have been bought from a local grocery store. The special flat iron New York was not prime or even select. The so called mushroom and pepper sauce was tasteless... If you like spicy food, this is not the place for you... Maybe they had a temp chef, but overall the food was better at the Waffle House, and much much cheaper!

Our party of six women had read mixed reviews about Toast and some reluctant to eat there. Thankfully our server was extremely knowledgeable and patient, our food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere perfect. Save room for their incredible desserts, though not an easy task when they serve THE BEST corn bread I HAVE EVER HAD. At evenings end, all six of us left smiling, satiated, and Toasters for Life!

I took my 6pm reservation and drove to Toast only to find a vacant restaurant, closed for the night. While looking at the front door, where the hours were posted, and my printed reservation I confirmed that they were supposed to be open, but in fact were CLOSED. Another couple in a car pulled up believing they could eat at Toast and were confused and angry that a place with hours posted on the door was actually closed. My wife and I drove to O'Charleys and had an acceptable dining experience. And the restaurant where I held a reservation is now "Toast" to me.

This was our first time at Toast. My husband and I were very pleased with the food, the friendly staff and the comfortable seating/dining area. We plan on visiting them again soon. It was restaurant week and that is really what brought us there to eat supper on a Saturday evening. From the minute we walked in the door of this restaurant the staff was so nice and made us feel really appreciated throughout our entire visit!!!

I had read a bunch of mixed reviews so I was hesitant to try. We ended up going during Charleston Restaurant Week which worked out nicely for a dinner special. I gave 4 stars for the food because my husband's meatloaf was dry, my daughter's steak was well instead of medium & my sweat tea fried chicken didn't have much glaze. The cole slaw is great - pickled. Had peach cobbler for dessert. There was a discrepancy between the bill and a special for my chocolate martini that was on the table stand, but they quickly took care of that. I think $9.50 for a chocolate martini is a little steep for Summerville though. They do need to get the AC fixed because it is leaking on the floor in the restaurant! Also the reason for 4 stars.

Could not get reservations for Toast in Charleston so we decided to go to Summerville location. Mistake! She crab soup - cool. Mussels - lukewarm & when I asked for bread, she told me they only had cornbread for dinner. I pointed out my son had garlic toast on his dish, I asked her if I could get some and she said, sure. She brought me about 3 pieces that were stale. Both my husband and son's dishes were about equal. We all were very very disappointed and I said I was just going to call management.

We have been to toast several times for brunch, which is by far the best in Summerville, and decided to try them out for dinner. The young male host and our waitress were phenomenal and the sweet tea fried chicken was heaven in my mouth. I love this place because everything always tastes incredibly fresh. Definitely a great place for dinner and the best for brunch.

We went there because we had been told about an excellent singer on Friday and Saturday nights. He is no longer there and there was no fun evening enjoying music. We ate anyway and the food was just mediocre. The seafood pasta was noodles in broth, the seafood platter was better at Captain D's. We were hoping for something great to be able to go to in our neighborhood.

A recent arrival in Summerville. The Sweet Tea Glazed Chicken was moist and the glaze a treat. Part of that was hustled away for lunch the next day. My beef over mashed potatoes found the right doneness. Portions are ample, and nicely prepared, couldn't quite negotiate dessert after the main course, will try that on a future visit. Observation of the wait staff is that they are attentive, the manager will follow up on anything that needs her attention. Prices are quite reasonable.

The food and service was more than expected. A very attentive waiter kept our tea glasses full. We made reservations and found it was a good thing we did since it was packed at 5 pm on a Thursday. I understand there was a group meeting happening so that probably explains the full parking area. I would like to see an expanded dinner menu eventually since I expect to dine here often.

Have dined at Toast in Summerville twice in the last week. Have had both lunch and dinner there, and the food was outstanding as well as the service. The menu is extensive and varied and the prices for lunch are great and for dinner, some may find the prices a bit on the high side but it's well worth the price. I hope this new restaurant stays in Summerville. It gives Summerville another fine restaurant, which is something that Summerville desperately needs. B

Menu (dinner) sounded good but the food was not; overpriced. Fried green tomatoes were ok but $7 for 3 pieces, remoulade was bland, relish was good. Fried Fish platter ($22) one piece of flounder, 4 shrimp and 4 oysters, most of the plate was soggy french fries, fish was very mushy (frozen?) breading was tasteless. Grilled Meatloaf ($15) was tough, dry, needed a knife to cut it (took most of it home for the dog). Mushroom gravy was like mushroom soup, also tasteless, few mushrooms; mashed potatoes grainy, dry, came out with no gravy on them, had to ask for some (not that it helped). Asparagus side was good but only 3 spears. Entrees came out so fast that it was probably microwaved. Have had better meals in Perkins. Server was good.

We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning (with a reservation). They weren't busy, around 1/2 the tables were occupied. We sat at our table for 15 minutes without a word from a waiter, though several passed by. While waiting, we noticed one table of four get all the wrong food and another table called the manager over and wasn't happy. Needless to say, we left. We told the hostess that we were leaving and didn't even get an apology. I say, go somewhere that wants your service and does a good job serving their customers.
