Diner Reviews
  • "We had lunch at Toast as part of our Dream Cruise experience. This was our third visit to Toast for lunch. This time I had a salad, rather than an omelette. My salad was generous with an excellent, homemade balsamic vinaigrette and special croutons. The chicken added was superbly grilled and quite moist. My husband's vegetarian wrap was impeccable. What is most noticeable is the eclectic, unusual, artistic environment. Every place I looked, I saw an objet d'art that caught my attention. Thus an excellent ambience. Service was adequate. I also have to comment on the fact is everything is made from scratch from the Bloody Mary mix to the home fries to the cole slaw."

  • "The food is great, the server was very attentive and on the ball, and the decor is very charming and comfortable. There were a couple issues like very strange frantic music that did not fit the atmosphere, they had to refire my dish because they put the gravy for the chicken and waffles ( awesome btw) on the dish instead of on the side. I would have gladly taken as is rather than wait the additional 35 minutes for my food. All and all the food was just delicious and artfully crafted, the prices were reasonable and the staff were very nice and accommodating. I will go back and would recommend."

  • "Love it for breakfast and lunch. Usually like it for dinner. Dinner food is getting a bit too extreme and odd. U have to b willing to try unusual dishes."

  • "Hostess cheerfully moved me to a large booth (before the rest of the party arrived) to accommodate the fact that this was a working lunch. Service was good and not intrusive. Everyone seemed satisfied with the food and the location was central."

  • "Ok food... ok service. Bizarre rule has every patron carded to order a drink. Think I will not return."

  • "Had a great dinner. Nice atmosphere. enjoyed thoroughly."

  • "One of my favorite things about Toast is that you can eat on one side with your kids and it is TOTALLY kid friendly, or you can eat on the quieter side with candles and sofas and it is a romantic restaurant. Both offer the same incredible menu. This time we had our two children and the servers were so nice to them. Toast never disappoints for dinner!!!!"

  • "We went to Toast for a nice dinner our before a concert and were thrilled with the experience. The food was fabulous and the waiter's recommendations were spot on. We did the mushroom and toast appetizer and it was delightful and I had the fish special for dinner while my fiance had the roasted chicken both were moth watering and full of flavor. The drinks were great and dessert was a sweet treat. We would certainly head back next time we are up that way!"

  • "We've had dinner at Toast twice and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Service was exemplary. Especially enjoyed the artichoke appetizer."

  • "I don't see why anyone would want to go here, it's very expensive for what you get. You never see your server. The coffee mug was filthy and I found out they are "known" for always having dirty coffee mugs. I won't eat here again. Seriously. George's Coney Island has much better omelets at about half the price."

  • "We have had brunch and lunch here and it was delicious. Once we found something that we liked on the limited dinner menu, it was also very good. The restaurant was not very full with patrons, unlike the Townsend patio across the street. Perhaps they do need to expand the dinner offerings. Service was excellent and our server knew the menu and preparation well."

  • "Food is always excellent. Wait staff is pleasant & professional, but sometimes overwhelmed. (Have been to Toast many times, only once have they overlooked a meal and graciously took care of it quickly.)"

  • "We came for dinner and didn't find. Lot that we wanted for dinner on the menu. We both ended with with burgers, which were good. I have heard breakfast is amazing and can't wait to come back for breakfast soon."

  • "Love this place-- recipes are original and tasty and the décor is fun & funky! Cool place, but get reservations-- even on a Tuesday!"

  • "Hadn't been here before, and it was an excellent choice to take a fellow foodie to. The choices of toast alone made it impeccable. I can't think of many places that have challa and cinnamon challa as choices for accompanying bread if at all. Extremely generous portions even for a big eater like me. I would return again."

  • "With a mimosa cheer we had a late Mother's Day breakfast celebration. With our open table reservation we received prime seating and walked ahead of the line . We enjoyed the Petoskey omelet and the Greek omelet . The home fries were amazing and the huge wheat toast slices were delicious . This venue is amazing for dates or a huge party in their ' living' room We enjoy so much"

  • "Food is good but limited. Service was mediocre. And, the music - at breakfast - was way too loud. It's the best place on town, largely because it is the only place in town!"

  • "Looking for a decent place to dine on a Friday evening in Birmingham with 3 girls in tow was a challenge but Toast welcomed us with open arms and no wait! The food was delicious and all 3 of my girls enjoyed it."

  • "The server was very knowledgable and friendly and just a nice guy. The food was amazing! I got the fish special and it was so good. My companions got the chicken and waffles, short ribs, and the cod, all of which were so good. The pairings of the sides with the main dish were different but perfect! The short ribs and the butternut squash rissoto were my fav of the night."

  • "Love Toast however they apparently don't monitor online reservations. We waited 40 minutes to be seated with a confirmed lunch reservation. 😞"

  • "Made online reservation for Sat night and it worked great. Restaurant has nice ambiance although a bit louder than I'd like. Our waiter was excellent. He had a good sense of humor and let us set the pace of the meal. The food was excellent. Very flavorful - though quite rich. Definitely recommend this place. Will be back. "

  • "If you want to experience Toast ...go during the week. The weekends are ridiculously crowded and the wait is on average 35-45 minutes. The food is excellent...the french toast and Bellinis are to die for. Loved having an early am meeting there. Only issue was ...I arrived and they didn't see my reservation. Quite embarrassing since I had my other party ask for it....in case they got there first. But we were seated quickly and all was well."

  • "The dishes are always interesting and well made. House special drinks are very good. Service is friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Too bad they took the bone marrow with toast off the menu."

  • "Some options were outstanding. Breaded, fried artichokes were spectacular. Filet mignon of veggies. Beet app was fair. Little taste in beets, unfortunately. Short ribs were very tender. Chicken and waffles......another story. 3 pieces of chicken, one was not fully cooked. That's not good. Cheddar waffles sounded better than they tasted. Sausage and sage gravy was quite tasty. I would have loved some maple syrup, as well. Espresso pudding tasty but waaaaay too heavy. Mousse it up. I think diners would appreciate that. Maybe hazelnut espresso mousse. Also, restaurant was cold. I get it, it's winter, but when I am paying for dinner, I expect you to turn UP the heat. That's the price of doing business. I'd go back 4 lunch/ bfast, skip dinner."

  • "We frequent this restaurant and it is almost always a five-star experience. They have some newer servers that aren't quite as familiar with the drink list, etc, as they probably should be...hopefully they will get the hang of it soon. The servers used to be so personable, and now only a small handful of them are left (and they did make it outstanding - perfect blend of making sure everything was spot on and giving you your space all at the same time). The menu is great. Great vegetarian options - far better than the typical vegetable pasta dish or fancy salad. I am talking mushroom roll in brick paper with ragout; stuffed butternut squash, etc. Wine list is good. Beer list is extensive. Great for any occasion and kid-friendly."

  • "On this frigid winter day , this eatery warmed our hearts. We celebrated my son's birthday with a mimosa breakfast . We enjoyed the Gouda omelette and egg plate as well . Bottomless cups of coffee kept replenishing . The eatery marked the birthday celebration with a scrumptious mocha creme delight ."

  • "We had dinner Friday 2/20. Our server Emma did not know the menu. She was annoyed that we had some food allergy questions and had an attitude. Our food was tasteless and greasy. We ate almost nothing. The music was blasting and the kids next to us were covering their ears. The manager was very nice and knew we had issues with the food yet never offered us a complimentary drink or anything. Toast is an awesome brunch restaurant only! Thank you"

  • "Very good experience at Toast. Friendly wait staff, a good variety of breakfast and lunches offered. We easily got a table with a last minute reservation but when we arrived it was quite busy and well attended. The only problem we experienced was we couldn't offer an espresso as their machine was temporarily in repair. Great location. Highly recommended."

  • "Great place for dinner. Beautiful decor and delicious food. My husband had the pork belly and devoured it. I had the stuffed squash. Good but not amazing. We started with the shrimp and grits, and it was excellent. We paid at the table and took our drinks to the bar to have dessert. The peanut butter pie was great. We will definitely love to go back!"
