A word from Tir Na Nog - Philadelphia
Tír na nÓg Irish Bar & Grill incorporates the warmth of an Irish pub with New American cuisine and all the while maintains a famous charm and hospitality. This extremely popular establishment opened in 2002 in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, after the runaway success of the original in
…
Manhattan. A design team from Ireland created this small piece of Ireland by salvaging architectural pieces, furniture and bric-a-brac from churches and castles in Ireland and shipping them to the USA. These pieces, combined with rich textiles, Celtic script adorning the walls, and rich, dark wood have shaped an elegant yet inviting atmosphere which caters to the sophisticated and casual diner. Tír na nÓg was just what Philly needed, a beautiful, yet unpretentious bar and restaurant that has something for everyone. The combination of an attractive menu and a professional, yet friendly, team of bartenders and servers has made Tír na nÓg a major success with clientele of all ages.

Great place if you like noisy bars. Of course the bar was noisy, but there was no escape in the dining room. The food was OK, not outstanding. And a couple seated near us was making out to the point where we nearly asked them to get a room. Service was adequate, not fast--but that meant no one rushed us out, either. Before the rest of the party arrived I asked to be given the bar tab. The waitress brought us 4 separate checks, one (not mine) with the bar tab included. Not what we asked for, but we made it work rather than wait to have her put all the food on one tab and all the alcohol on another.

We went for brunch with a party of 6 (2 children under 9) on the day of the St. Patrick's day parade. With tip and 6 drinks the bill came to $180. A bit expensive for what we got. I understand it was a special day and the parade menu was the only one offered, I just wish that info was passed along when I made the reservation. The service was good and friendly. I would return for drinks but not food on this particular day, too expensive.

The place was jumping on a Friday night. Almost had to yell to be heard. Food was fine pub grub.
Service was swift and courteous.

The food was fair and delivered to the table in parts. Two in our group had to wait five minutes for dinner while the others ate. The table reservation was the wrong size. The waitress was very slow, often forgetting items we asked for at the table. Drinks prices were way to high for a pub atmosphere. Even the coffee was not hot. This was the first open table establishment that receives a poor score from our group.By the way we could not hear ourselves talk!

"
We went to Tir Na Nog for dinner during Restaurant week and we were very pleased. The restaurant atmosphere is fun and energetic. The service was fantastic -- every need was anticipated and at the right pace. We enjoyed our appetizer/first course. The salad accented by nuts and dried cranberries was fresh and had a perfect vinegrette dressing. The mussels were delicious, with a nice sauce that went well with the bread basket. Our main course food was delicious and served hot and fresh. We had the filet mignon, cooked perfectly, served with carrots and fluffy mashed potatoes the way "momma should make." We also had the salmon special with risotto and asparagus. Although the risotto a bit salty, everything was great, including dessert.

Our group of 6 was able to score the back room, which was away from the bar area and allowed our business dinner to be productive. It was Restaurant Week, too. Burgers are excellent (Big, too).

The noise level was a bit TOO emnrgetic for our taste--and while we only rated the service GOOD, I have to say that the waitpersons were really dashing around. Apparently Tir Na Nog didn't add any extra servers for the New Year's Even crowd . . .
