If our waitress had looked us in the eye once, I would've given it 4 stars. The fried calamari with banana peppers was delicious! I'm a big calamari fan, but never had anything mixed in with it - nor had I ever eaten banana peppers. I was pleasantly surprised what a nice combination the two flavors made. Ordered the Sea Scallops for dinner, and they were wonderfully cooked, but the beet risotto they were served with, while flavorful, was also somewhat crunchy. On the plus side, the food and drinks were all served very quickly, and our water glasses were kept filled (without having to ask). The place is also very loud, so wouldn't be great for a romantic dinner, but was fine for two friends catching up over a meal. I'll probably be back.

Food is always very good, variety offered is wonderful, daily specials delicious, the Trinity - soup, salad and sandwich is perfect amount of food and delicious. Service is always good, the staff very polite and anxious to help make your visit here a good one . They give you plenty of time to consider your options, enjoy your meal and even linger a bit. Eating here is always a good experience.

Tir Na Nog is our go-to place to dine when we are attending events at Madison Square Garden. It's usually a noisy and bustling NYC scene, nd the food is delicious. I recommend the potato soup (YUM!) and the tuna tartare (love it!). Really enjoyable meal!

Unfortunately, we were seated too near the bar. The noise level was much more than "energetic", it was awful. We couldn't have a conversation acrooss the table. Food was OK, service was great - but the noise would probably keep me from going back.

My wife had a train into Penn Station arriving about 9pm and I was looking for a good restaurant that was close. Trip Advisor had a good review of this pub and since it was right across the street, we went here. We had the fish special and it was delicious. The beer was great, too (a must for an Irish pub!). I think this will be my go-to place to go before getting on the train or after getting off. The wait staff was prompt and helpful, but not obtrusive.

Chose Tir na nOg on a friend's recommendation and wow, were we glad we did! Convenient to MSG (across from back entrance to MSG). Arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation, no problem, seated right away. Hostess politely explained we had 1 1/2 hour time limit, which was fine with us as we were going to see a show. Drink orders were taken and served promptly, dinner order taken right away. After we ordered dinner we found out my brother and his wife were joining us....no problem, they couldn't move us to a bigger table but brought over chairs and we squeezed in. Food came out so quickly I thought "how could this be good?" but my salmon was perfect, others had burgers that were awesome and my pop has sheperds pie, not a bite left!

Calamari came out under-cooked, but that was quickly and happily corrected. Wife loved the scallops and risotto (swapped beets for mushrooms). Strip steak was fine, as was potato tart and veggies. Caught it just before dinner crowd, so it was mostly empty. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Convenient spot across from train. Easily accommodated two gluten-free diners. Would recommend, will likely return.

The dry vodka martini didn't taste like the Grey Goose I ordered straight up; it was weak and lacked the consistency of Grey Goose. The tomato salad was awesome, and the scallops/risotto were very good, but bread wasn't offered, and there was not vegetable. Considering the price of the entree, we thought that was a tad chintzy. That having been said, Tir na nOg is a friendly and convenient spot that"s for brunch and/or lunch. I've dined there and had drinks there on many occasions when in New York and am certain to return. Our server was wonderful.

My friend and I arrived around 4:30 p.m. on a Wednesday for an early dinner (w/in a block of Penn Station for ease in catching an evening train). We were amongst the first few tables to be seated, but soon all tables were full and the bar area was overflowing with a standing-room-only crowd. By then, the volume in the restaurant was so loud that my friend and I were no longer able to converse. This could have been frustrating except that the food was so delicious and the service so appropriate that we made the most of this exceptionally good meal. Go for the food and the party atmosphere but be prepared for cacophony.

We were looking for a place to eat near Madison Square Garden, and found this pub. It could not be more convenient to our concert at the Garden, so we gave it a try, and boy, were we glad. This will be my new go-to whenever attending a Garden event! The drinks were amazing - not watered down at all - the food was great as was the service. I highly recommend!

We had a frustrating experience. We had to hunt down a server after no one came to our table at all. Then when we mentioned that we had a concert so were on tight time constraint, nothing changed. We ordered drinks and food together - but then once the food was delivered no one came to check up on us. We had to hunt someone down for our check as well.

We took my mother-in-law here to eat before a concert at MSG. Our reservations were at 6pm. We enjoyed dinner, our server was very nice and at 7pm on the dot the host/manager ( an Irish older man) came over and asked us to wrap it up because we booked our reservations on OPEN TABLE and that only allotted us an hour to eat. I was appalled. We had already asked for the check at that point but to have someone come over and basically tell you that you needed to leave was something that in all the years of living in NYC has never happened to me or my husband. I will never eat there again before a show at MSG.

We had been here a few times before and it was good. This time was just pretty awful. First, we got a phone call to confirm our reservation. The woman stated that we would have to eat quickly because our reservation was for one hour only. They stated that they were very busy and needed the table. This was before we even got there. The waitress was bland, the food was boring, the service? what service? It's a shame, used to be a fun place to grab a bite before a concert or before catching a train home. Too many other good places to go, dont waste your time with this one.

Had dinner at this Irish Pub after a Broadway show and on the way home. The restaurant is across the street from Penn Station (Madison Square Garden) so a perfect stop before getting on the train for the ride home. I and my companion ordered the Shepherd's Pie -- the real thing made with lamb. It was great. Service was very attentive. The place was very busy with an energetic bar crowd. Lots of draft and bottled beers on the menu. No sports events were scheduled for the Garden this evening -- I can't imagine how busy this place must get before a Nicks or Rangers game.
