Located on a landmark block in west Chelsea, Tipsy Parson is a 70-seat American brasserie, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Tipsy Parson serves refined comfort food, focusing on Regional American favorites, with a nod to Southern classics.

The menu revolves around reinterpretations of classic American home-cooking.

The full-bar features classic American cocktails, traditional punches, seasonally-changing frozen juleps and coffee service from Stumptown Roasters.

The main dining room looks out over a small, lush garden and is available for private events. The front room has casual seating for 14, seated dining for 22 and accommodates 14 at the bar.

  • "This was my second time dining here. First time was on Halloween, and understandably the noise level was beyond normal due to the heavily intoxicated crowd. Gave it another shot on a Saturday, but there is something acoustically wrong with this place - it's so loud that people are literally yelling at each other (as compared to talking). It simply was impossible to have a normal conversation with my woman. Either the noise level or the so-so engagement of the waiter consequently led to a few misunderstandings, and him forgetting to tell us about the specials, which we only discovered once the desert menu was handed to us (the specials were printed on the back). The food turned out to be OK, but way overpriced."

I've told a few friends about this place, and once they go they keep going back every time they visit! The vibe is great, a cute, cozy little place and the staff is always very friendly and attentive! If you're having brunch on the island of Manhattan, just do yourself a favor and eat here. Reservations recommended for weekend brunch (easy to do online)."

  • "We tried a kale salad, their signature mac and cheese, and pan fried organic chicken. The kale salad was tasty and we liked it. The others, especially pan fried organic chicken from Entree does not have any flavor and too dry. We were so disappointed and also mac and cheese is nothing surprise. Less than average.... my co-worked could make it better... The worst thing is to loud. You can hardly hear what your company is talking... Their music is super bad taste and loud too.. When we left the place, we had a relief from the noise..."

  • "Had high expectations for the Tipsy Parson after reading favorable reviews. Both diners chose the blackened catfish tacos which turned up cold. The fish was slimy and the tacos were like cardboard. We shared a portion of fries with aioli which were also cold. The deviled eggs were the best part of the meal, very tasty indeed. The rhubarb fizz cocktail was okay but have tasted much nicer cocktails. Not once were we asked by any of the servers whether we were enjoying or had enjoyed our meal, nor were we asked if we would like to order dessert or coffee. This made for a very poor experience. The restaurant was also uncomfortably cold, all in all a pretty unpleasant experience neither diner intends to repeat,"

  • "The restaurant is small so have reservations in advance and it can get a bit loud when the place is filled. However the food is amazing. I love the cornmeal pancakes and the biscuit bomb! It is definitely worth it to try the bomb because it is unique and delicious! I have also tried the waffles and pig in the poke and can say that those are amazing as well. Their original cocktails are also delicious. Another aspect that makes the Tipsy Paraon so amazing is the staff. I have had one waiter two out of the three times I've been there and he is fabulous! He is not only amazing at his job but he is fun to simply chat with as well. Overall I love this place and will continue to come back here for brunch every time is visit the city!"

  • "This is the first restaurant review that I have ever written. Actually this is the first place that actually deserved my time. The place was simply amazing. We were seated on time for our reservation and promptly attended to. Our server Jimmy was not only professional but a whole lot of fun. Thank you Jimmy for making our evening perfect. The rest of the staff was also kind and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and we can't wait to go back."

  • "We were seated immediately upon our arrival(back room)..reservations a must, place fills up rather quickly. The menu alone makes your mouth water..our server Eric was charming and very helpful..we couldn't decide what to order. We started with spicey bloody Mary's , ordered the farmstand...omg! Delicious ( arrugula,poached eggs,brussel sprouts,almonds".each bite more savory than the next..their "create a biscuit", fried pickles(the best I've had) all devoured by us. Never had breakfast like this before, not your typical.The portions are perfect. We are planning on returning for dinner."

  • "I dine here fairly often and am never disappointed. Great service, great ambiance, great cocktail list! Enjoyed a great pork chop this past weekend! Random side note: If you're a fan of the hush puppies (as I am!) it seems they may have changed the recipe every so slightly? (still tasty but they didn't feel as heavy and cake-y as I generally like them). We also heard they are updating their chef--hopeful s/he doesn't change too much!"

  • "Took a couple of friends here on a Saturday night, and had an early seating for dinner. No wait for our table, even though the front part of the restaurance was hopping... Great staff experience from the start - loved our waitress: very friendly, knowlegable about the menu, made good suggestions. Sat in the back room with the great ambiance, and even though at a group table, we felt like we were our own special group...Food was good - Shrimp and Grits were EXCELLENT! Pork Chop too. Although you might think a large portion of the menu seems fried and possibly heavy, it's not the case - all tasty and not over-breaded or over-greasy. WORD OF ADVICE: pre-order the Apple Cobbler dessert - we did and it was worth it!!! Go! Enjoy!"

I've been looking for a neighborhood spot for a while and when I tried Tipsy Parson for brunch one day it was love at first bite! My love for this place deepened when it became obvious that Ethan Hawke also loved it. I'm always recommending this place to friends. It can get wicked crowded and hard to get a table at brunch but well worth it in my opinion."

  • "I did expect the rather high prices so that didn't bother me, but I did expect a good dinner and I didn't get it. The ribs I had were very mediocre and much too smokne. The quality was not good, being quite tough and not at all "fall-off-the bone" which the waiter had promised. . Dessert (Tipsy Parson" was not at all good and we took a taste and left almost all of it uneaten. Service was good altho very limited bread which we had to ask for more. All in all a very disappointing dinner ."

  • "We just back from Savannah and were in the mood for some southern food (which is not easy to find in NYC, as the number of restaurants serving this cuisine in NYC is small and a lot of them lump southern, soul, Cajun/creole, and BBQ all together.) This place is legit with fried green tomatoes, grits, lots of seafood and more. Cool bar scene, too. Great food, good wine list and the service was great. Enjoyed speaking with the manager and the waitress. They really love what they do and they took care of us."

  • "This was my second trip to The Tipsy Parson. Being from MS, I first visited the restaurant last year around New Years. The food was fantastic, so I had to come back this year. I was not disappointed! My brother, a NY local, recommended it for brunch and we were so glad he did. The service, food, and drinks are outstanding. I always try something different and everything on the menu is outstanding. Its a great pick for locals and tourists looking for a true NY brunch without the "tourists.""

  • "I live in the neighborhood and eat here now and then. One night over the holidays there were two large groups at the communal table and we four at a small table had to shout to hear each other.The people at a table for two were also shouting to be heard so it was beyond loud around us. I love the menu and the service is always good, but I would be cautious if you are counting on a quiet night. This has not been a problem on other visits so maybe it was too much holiday cheer. This is a great brunch place but you must reserve."

  • "We visited this wonderful restaurant for a holiday brunch. It was fantastic from the peach bellinis and mimosa's to the coffee at the end of our meal. The food was fantastic, the ambiance great and the waiters very friendly. I recommend making reservations. Also, check the updated menu, as they change it seasonally. The mushroom toast was amazing, as were the waffles. My husband got the chicken and waffles which are good for those with a big appetite. The crab cakes were a small portion, however, and my son did not get enough to eat. He quickly understood why the waiter offered toast to go with it. It would have been sufficient for a woman, however. We all enjoyed ourselves here and highly recommend it."

  • "I went for brunch on a Saturday morning. The restaurant is very cute and has a nice atmosphere, however the service is a bit cold and mechanical. No smiles, no warmth, just order taking & food delivery. The food was along the same lines. I had the mushroom toast which was delicious, however the granola and yogurt was just okay. Like the service - fine, but not exceptional. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from coming here, but I probably wouldn't recommend it either. Just a little pep in the food and service would make a huge overall improvement."

Their own style of what I call healthy Charleston SC cooking withe lots of gluten free options available no where else, awesome drinks with home made bitters (eg Down the Hatch, hands down tastiest slightly spicy and sweet margarita), a great atmosphere in a great neighborhood that they helped build, and staff like the family you wish you had."

  • "This is one of my favorite places. Start with the fun apps like Fried Pickles with a tasty cocktail. Definitely have the glazed ribs, Brussels Sprouts and the Shrimp + Grits. Although ask if the latter is their usual buttery sauce, not the red "Chili-esque" sauce they served this night. The chef switched this, but by all accounts, it's going back to that standard delicious way. The staff is fabulous. I always ask for Jimmy, the waiter, as he's not only helpful, courteous + knowledgeable about the food + drinks, but he's delightful, charming and helps to make your dining experience all the more enjoyable."

  • "I usually love this place but this time the hostess was very rude and seemed almost angry. We were late to our reservation and added another member to our party. Of course we know that is an inconvenience and may add time to our wait but there was no reason for the hostess to behave so rudely and dismissively. The food is usually amazing but this night my bass was way over cooked. I didn't feel like waiting some more so I didn't mention it. Our actual waiter was very nice though. Just the hostess needs an attitude adjustment. We saw her be rude to other guests too."

  • "We are often in Chelsea either for theatre or Joyce dance presentations, and have been looking for good pre-theater restaurants. Tipsy Parson fills that niche nicely. Interesting menu, good service, food nicely presented, reasonably priced, and you can hear your table's conversation without hearing talk from nearby tables. We will very likely return."
