Located on a landmark block in west Chelsea, Tipsy Parson is a 70-seat American brasserie, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Tipsy Parson serves refined comfort food, focusing on Regional American favorites, with a nod to Southern classics.

The menu revolves around reinterpretations of classic American home-cooking.

The full-bar features classic American cocktails, a curated selection of small-batch bourbons, and coffee service from Kitten Coffee in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The main dining room looks out over a small, lush garden and is available for private events. The front room has casual seating for 8, seated dining for 22 and accommodates 14 at the bar.

  • "Shared several "southern" dishes accompanied by excellent cocktails & wine. Try the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp and grits. Baked to order peach cobbler was tempting, but we had the sticky sorghum cake instead. Our server was wonderful, pacing our little treats perfectly, and getting us out in time for the theater. A fun place!"

However, our last two vists became unpleasant due to the noise level in the back room. We left because we couldn't hear our guests conversation. Maybe some noise reduction panels are in order"

  • "We were expecting major deliciousness. The fried chicken with waffles was delicious, but that was the only dish that our party of 4 gave unanimous hands up on. The farmstand egg dish billing led us to expect a nice salad with the poached eggs. It was all peas and the stems of some type of green leafy vegetable, perhaps arugula or watercress. It was pretty bland. The mushroom toast had a huge mound of ricotta under the eggs. Would have been better with more mushrooms and less ricotta. The orange juice tasted a little old and slightly fermented. The waitress did a serviceable job but was not overly friendly or solicitous about how we liked our meal."

  • "Had a wonderful pre-show dinner around the corner from the Atlantic Theater at the Tipsy Parson. Was seated opposite the bar, which was not as bustling as I was afraid it would be, at least until a group came in with a couple of babies. They don't have Tanqueray, but they suggested another gin which was ok. The food was wonderful. I wasn't fond of the oats and cereal sprinkled on the beet salad, but the rest of the meal was fantastic. Service was attentive and friendly. Thanks. Hope to be back!"

  • "I had not been in years and was a little disappointed when I went for a business lunch with one other person. The tomato and melon salad was so drenched in vinegar that it was almost I edible. I should have told them and sent back. Shrimp and grits were delicious. I found the menu to be overpriced. The table was rather cramped and it was quite noisy. Not terrible but not good enough for those prices."

  • "The food here is amazing. The service on the other hand is lacking. Our waiter was full of attitude when we explained some food allergy concerns. Be careful about sitting in the back room. If you get a large group of 20-something girls having brunch at the large table, you'll lose your hearing from the high pitched, nasal screeching. But again, the food is truly outstanding!"

  • "The atmosphere is very nice, the food is good south carolinian inspired comfort food. The Chef was on top chef and the prices are "I've been on Top Chef" prices. Hush puppies (which were better than what they used to serve us in public school down south) we very good, but over fried. One person in our group is vegetarian. When we asked the waiter to suggest some vegetarian options, he included corn dogs! It was not a joke. I know that the meat in a hotdog is questionable, but it is still meat. And just because you wrap it in cornbread the hotdog is no less meat. I would have expected a little more professional wait staff."

  • "I found this restaurant when searching for a Chelsea establishment online. I love the southern type of food and my vegetarian friend was happy with the Kale Salad and gluten free options. They were very accommodating to our request to be in a booth like setting, since we were going to be there awhile and probably be a little loud with laughter. The front room with the bar is tight if you sit at a table but the bar is nice. We were in the back room that has great, comfortable ambiance. Our waitress was patient and very helpful. We all said we would return with our husbands for date night!"

It was cute, we were sat in the back which was quiet. The comp corn bread w/pepper jelly was very good and we each ordered a drink Tipsy Palmer and Rhubarb Fizz (decent),Hush Puppies(I liked them, bf -Meh), Fried Green Tomatoes (May have been good but were so covered in avocado that you never really tasted the tomato), Soft Shelled Crab (the crab was too small, greens were good), Mac & Cheese w/Bacon (the best thing we had, excellent), Pork Chop (had to send it back it was so salty, even the 2nd try was too salty but we ate it), Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp (dry, burnt, sour) Will never go back."

The atmosphere was convivial filled with families enjoying their Sunday morning. I ordered the Farmstand - brunch entree which was out of this world and a delicious Peach Bellini. I want to bring up the point of the "no sitting partial parties" policy, that usually annoys me, but Tipsy Parson took it up a notch. We were there for an early brunch with an 8 m.o. baby. The other couple was running late, and the restaurant was pretty empty. Our table was set up already but the m' d would not sit us down. I tried to explain that I need to feed my daughter asap, but he refused to let us have a sit and pointed me to the bar area. So I sat my daughter ON the bar, and her diaper bag On the bar, and was about to feed her when the m'd ran over and said "you know what, we can show you to your table". Couldn't they just let me sit down to begin with? "

  • "Tipsy Parson was recommended to me by a friend as a great first date location, and I completely agree. The restaurant is intimate but not too stuffy, and I would posit excellent for any occasion; a coffee-shop-by-day, bar-by-night, restaurant-all-the-time. Natural sunlight poured in through the front windows as we were dining, creating a romantic and peaceful ambience. The food was also superior—we opted to share several sides rather than having our own meals, and we were not disappointed! The food was filling and tasty, full of flavor and vibrance! The service was also top-notch; a water bottle was placed on the table, but I found that I was never the one pouring; our server and runner were ALL over it. This is a marvelous place."

  • "Tipsy Parson was a delightful spot for meeting friends on a chilly and wet April night. It was a relief to be able to make a reservation only the day before and know that our group of four would have a table in such foul weather. Note that Tipsy Parsons won't seat a reserved table until everyone is there--this strikes me as a bit odd if you've made a reservation. Service was sufficiently attentive but not particularly warm, and the food was good. I just wish wine and entrees were $5 cheaper or so. My friends said they would go back. I myself don't have a burning desire to, but it is a gem of a local spot where it is easy to make a reservation."

  • "This was my second time dining here. First time was on Halloween, and understandably the noise level was beyond normal due to the heavily intoxicated crowd. Gave it another shot on a Saturday, but there is something acoustically wrong with this place - it's so loud that people are literally yelling at each other (as compared to talking). It simply was impossible to have a normal conversation with my woman. Either the noise level or the so-so engagement of the waiter consequently led to a few misunderstandings, and him forgetting to tell us about the specials, which we only discovered once the desert menu was handed to us (the specials were printed on the back). The food turned out to be OK, but way overpriced."

I've told a few friends about this place, and once they go they keep going back every time they visit! The vibe is great, a cute, cozy little place and the staff is always very friendly and attentive! If you're having brunch on the island of Manhattan, just do yourself a favor and eat here. Reservations recommended for weekend brunch (easy to do online)."

  • "We tried a kale salad, their signature mac and cheese, and pan fried organic chicken. The kale salad was tasty and we liked it. The others, especially pan fried organic chicken from Entree does not have any flavor and too dry. We were so disappointed and also mac and cheese is nothing surprise. Less than average.... my co-worked could make it better... The worst thing is to loud. You can hardly hear what your company is talking... Their music is super bad taste and loud too.. When we left the place, we had a relief from the noise..."
