A word from Tiny's & the Bar Upstairs
A centuries-old pink townhouse in the heart of TriBeCa is the setting for Tiny’s & The Bar Upstairs, a restaurant from Matt Abramcyk (Smith & Mills, Warren 77). Abramcyk sought to maintain the character of the 200-year-old space by restoring found materials and overlaying them with Americana finishes, creating the look and feel of a dinner club from a bygone era. The second level, known as "The Bar Upstairs," recalls a classic tavern one might stumble upon during their travels, with custom-made banquettes and antique appointments such as English country wallpaper and reclaimed tin ceilings. Chef John Martinez, who joined Abramcyk after 8 years with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, uses the finest local ingredients to prepare modern American dishes. Tiny's features an extensive list of wine, beer and refreshing cocktails. With its warm atmosphere and artistic spirit, Tiny's & The Bar Upstairs is perfect for a leisurely midday meal, a dinner date or catching up over cocktails.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Tiny's has just started serving breakfast and we decided to give it a try--and we were not disappointed--but if you have a big appetite you'll have a problem unless you order the entire menu. We had coffees and scrambled eggs with a piece of toast each. The young waiter did everything he could to please us. We would go again."

  • "Booked a table here because i was told they serve great food at a moderate price. When i returen to NY this is a spot ill revisit! Good drinks to start with and then Main courses for around 30$ each. The porkchop comes with a nice mash and redwine sauce. Takes abaut 30 min. We Also had the steak. Five stars. Small tables and chairs. Cosy."

  • "While planning our NYC trip this restaurant kept coming up on my Pinterest searches. Had a GC from Open Table so we gave it a shot. Long story short...appetizers: meatballs; delicious but not hot. entree: duck; delicious, but too salty. Ambiance: amazing. Service; server seemed a bit overwhelmed yet under enthused. Did not get the same attention as other tables...prob due to GC?"

  • "Did not like the restaurant. Too dark. Limited menu. Staff polite but rushed us."

  • "Dined at Tiny's on the recommendation of a friend, and it couldn't have been more enjoyable - this little gem is firing on all cylinders."

  • "Im sorry to say so, but all 4 of us agreed this is one of the worst overall experiences we have ever had in a restaurant. The food is quite pricey and we had high expectations after looking at the meny. The meatball appetizer was nice but the 4 main courses tasted absolutely nothing and the plates looked really messy. What was worse was the service, all 4 left almost all food on our plates and the waiter did not even ask if everything was alright or if we wanted something more. After trying to get his attention for a while to explain our thoughts we just gave up. And there was only two more couples in the entire place.. The only good thing we have to say is that the atmosphere is cosy and the champagne tasted great!"

  • "great to sit by the fireplace in winter and on the sidewalk in summer. nice servers, great food, fair prices for the high quality. kale salad, burrata, and hake fish are favorites."

  • "Would highly recommend. Great selection of classic and specialty cocktails and our waiter was attentive and assured our glasses were never empty. Food was very good, too. Will be back."

  • "A great place and fantastic food - but it was very cold inside..."

  • "We visited Tiny's for a casual Saturday brunch and loved it - the place is adorable and the food is really, really great."

  • "I've been here three times and absolutely love it. The drinks are great, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is fun and hip. I've had the hake twice and highly recommend it. The mashed potatoes and kale salad are also delicious, and for drinks, we loved The West Twelfth and White Lady."

  • "as many other reviewers have noted, tiny's is tiny, especially the bar upstairs. that's great if being cozy and relaxed with dining companions feels appropriate--as with the dinner date i enjoyed there. lots of candlelight and the fireplace adds to the modern-rustic ambience. service was professional but relaxed and friendly. the menu is well-edited and every dish we had earned high marks: pan-seared hake with brussels sprouts and a savoury potato-onion puree; crispy potatoes; braised red cabbage with dried cherries and pistachios; and the outrageous kale salad. kale salads are so ubiquitous now that it must be hard to make one that stands out still, but tiny's does! i'm still craving another one several days later."

  • "Disappointing! Off hand service, mediocre food and music that was way too loud. we won't be back."

  • "Ate here with my girlfriend and brother. It is truly a small place, and the table felt a little cramped, but the ambience in the fireplace room, the food and the service more than made up for it. Burrata and Meatball appetizers were divine; the pork and duck entrees were favorites of the table. Our drinks were well made, and the restaurant as a whole was very reasonably priced, especially for the neighborhood. Would recommend this place to anyone, and we will be back!"

  • "The menu is interesting. It's worth ordering through it. They have a waiter there who can take a six-top's order without pen and paper and without any trouble. Cozy space. Sometimes the fireplace is going."

  • "I've been to Tiny's a couple of times. It is indeed a tiny place, but the food, drinks, service and ambience are all great. Swanky hipster spot."

  • "First off it was freezing, I could not take my coat off. I was disappointed to get a table in back. It is dark and no windows. The service was deplorable. I had to get up and get a straw for my niece's drink. They served it without a straw. We were given no salt or catsup. We were not offered a desert menu. We still left a 20% tip even though the service was awful. The eggs Benedict had pulled pork instead of ham (YUK). The bloody Mary's were so-so. I will never go back."

  • "It is the cutest small restaurant dimly lit with candles and hosted by the nicest people. They also have some of the best meatballs I've ever tasted. When I'm back I'm town I'll definitely be visiting again."

  • "My husband and I had dinner there this past Friday night and loved it. The dining room was warm, cozy, and inviting and the food was delicious. My husband got the chicken and it was the most tender and juiciest chicken I've ever had. I couldn't stop eating off his plate. I had the hake over Brussels sprouts which was also delicious but it was a small portion so I was still a little hungry afterwards. Next time I'll order an appetiser or a side too. Overall, it was a lovely start to the weekend and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy night out."

  • "Terrible and slow service. We had to chase down a waiter to ask (sometimes multiple times) for everything (water, drinks, children's menus, the bill...). Given that we were on the 2nd floor this involved going up and down stairs. It was really frustrating."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Tiny's & the Bar Upstairs. My father-in-law was actually gushing about how good it was! The dining room in the back with the fireplace is delightfully cozy. The burrata appetizer was really good and the hake over brussel sprouts was delicious. Wish there had been a few more dessert choices... but everything tasted great and the service was excellent."

  • "I love the atmosphere. However, it's rather expensive. I know it's in TriBeCa and most places around there are pricey, but we ordered mussels and only got a few! The dessert was amazing!"

  • "This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots in TriBeCa. Just recently started going for brunch and literally everything on the menu is amazing! Have to get the French Toast with Burrata. Insane!"

  • "Tiny's feels a world away from the financial district but is a short walk. Good spot for lunch when you want to catch up with a friend. Menu is not extensive but the bistro dishes are well executed. Tables are close, but the overall feel is cozy and noise level moderate."

  • "Went on a date and was able to sit in the back by the fireplace on cold winter night. It was perfect. The food was great, the atmosphere was great and the service was very good. The one problem was the waiter-- low energy and not too engaged. The rest of the wait team was excellent."

  • "Every course of our New Year's Eve prefix was uninspired, bland, and disappointing especially for the $95 per person price. We will go back for drinks bc of the atmosphere but never for food."

  • "My wife and I were visiting the city from out of town without our kids and stumbled across this wonderful restaurant in TriBeCa. We were seated in the back room by the fireplace and had a wonderful time. The ambiance, food and service were absolutely perfect for a date night. The fireplace can tend to be a bit warm, but my wife absolutely loved the heat and it really enhanced the whole experience. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I came here with my boyfriend around 5:30 on a Saturday night. I ordered the mussels that were on special, traditional mussels in white wine with onions and garlic, and they were bland. My boyfriend had the scallops and pork belly. My portion was fine for me and had yummy crostini on the side with gruyere baked on top; but he had 5 of the smallest scallops on his plat. He ended up having to get a pizza afterward-and he is a skinny man. We often dine out in this neighborhood and are used to smaller than average portions but this was just not satisfying. We also never received bread that we saw several other diners receive. Our waiter came over only once to take our order and someone else gave us our check. I will not be returning."

  • "Wonderful, intimate place with historic charm. We went there for Thanksgiving and had a terrific time. The food was excellent, and would have gotten a five star rating, but for the whole grape stuffing (which was just a little off). We will be back!"
